'Echt een hele unieke, ‘quirky’, kamer (noddy). Leuk voor een verblijf van een nachtje. De locatie is erg prettig. Goed te bereiken, rustig en uniek zo tegenover een kerk, begraafplaats en wat oorlogs/history bezienseaardigheden in de buurt. Uitvalsbasis voor bezoeken van Ashford, Rye, folkstone, dover is echt top. Eten in de pub is goed. Heb beter gegeten voor een goedkopere prijs in andere pubs maar het is goed te doen. Personeel/eigenaren zijn attent. Fijn prive parkeren, wat met een NL...

'This is a nice hotel in a truly spectaculair situation. And what a vieuw! If you’re looking for luxury and large rooms this is not for you. But it is in a building with character and charm. Nice room and bathroom, clean, good bed and pillows and a good breakfast with plenty of choice. Carpets on the floor, not my favorite in any hotel, not hygiënic. For eldery people the roads are steep and slippery (cobblestones). No parking. Rye is truly charming, well worth a visit! '

'Excellente étape d'une nuit au King Charles à Tenterden. La chambre est propre et bien équipée du nécessaire — tout ce qu'il faut pour une nuit confortable. Le personnel est très avenant, ce qui contribue vraiment à la bonne ambiance de l'établissement. Deux atouts appréciables : un parking disponible sur place (pas d'angoisse à l'arrivée !) et un petit jardin bien agréable pour souffler un moment. À recommander sans hésiter pour une halte dans la région du Kent.'

'The staff were all wonderful and helpful . It was 36c+ . The building is an old historic property with newly refurbished bedrooms . A fan was in the room to help with the heat . Small but comfortable with a lovely bathroom. My room faced the front and with the heat I needed my window open . The property is by the traffic lights so if you are traffic averse , ask for a rear room . Breakfast is continental but you can pay extra for a cooked breakfast, but not on Sundays . Room for 3 cars to park...

'What a stunning place steeped in history. From the beautiful exterior to the historical interior, everything was wonderful and authentic. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the service was top notch. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was great, finishing in the fabulous bar area with the enormous fireplace complete with hidden priest-hole. If you're looking for some ancient and typically British surroundings then you couldn't go wrong with The Mermaid in Rye.'

"We stayed for one night. The room was fine, just like on the pictures when booking, and we had a good night sleep. Parking is at the street, but during our stay there was enough space. I think parking, if paid through the hotel, was about 8,50gbp a day. Would definately stay here again next time."

"It is a well-located and welcoming hotel, right by the sea. We heard from other guests that the hotel has recently been renovated. This seems to apply mainly to its appearance, as there are no new modern facilities. For exmample, we were initially a little surprised that there was no air conditioning in our room. That said, the staff and the location still made it a memorable experience. Here are a few useful things to know: * You can park for free behind the hotel, although it can get quite busy. There are also two free Porsche charging spaces. * At breakfast, you can help yourself to the continental options, such as croissants and toast, while everything else needs to be ordered at the table. Try to do this as soon as you are shown to your table, as breakfast can get very busy and you may otherwise have to wait quite a while for your tea or coffee and your ordered food. The food is very good and the staff work very hard and are friendly. * Our room did not have air conditioning or a fridge, so keep this in mind if you are visiting during the summer. * You are given a room key with a large key fob, which can be a little impractical to carry around. * The train station is around the corner and thankfully you can hardly hear the trains * I was unable to take a warm shower in the late evening. It is possible that the tap thermostat was faulty or that the boiler had run out of hot water. I would recommend checking this when you arrive. Still definitely worth a stay!"
