We stayed here in December and it definitely had its pros and cons. The pros are clearly stated in many other overwhelmingly positive reviews including the ability to have our children entertain themselves in arcade room and be as loud as they want yet still be able to read peacefully on the other end of the house. Some of the following are things I would have liked to know ahead of time to have better prepared my expectations.The house is much more rustic than the pictures depict. A lot of the features just come across as what I would describe as cheap. The master bedroom is especially in need of a complete update; it has the bare minimum, and the “wardrobe” to store clothes in is laughable. There was no storage space in general across the whole house; even the dressers located in the bunk bed room were mostly full of bedding extras, so barely usable.The layout of the bathrooms is awkward and the lightswitch to the powder room is outside the door, with no vent fan.The adventure shed was a nice touch but it was missing the sleds that were advertised. The dart machine in the arcade did not work.The house smelled faintly of mold.The welcome email made it clear that there would be a Brita pitcher and extra filters in order for us to have access to filtered water, but upon arrival, there was none of that. The owner was responsive, but didn’t drop off a replacement Brita until the evening of our second day.

The game rooms chairs were very uncomfortable, and the dart board game was not working. Aside from that, the rooms were comfortable and cozy.

While my spouse and I were feeling tremendous anxiety about an upcoming medical procedure the waterfront location, fresh air & our dog's company released a great amount of that anxiety and tension. We spent most of our time next to blazing fires at the fire pit watching amazing sunsets which was ideal for relaxing and enjoying our time there.The online pictures show exactly what you get. Emily and her staff were friendly and helpful with everything we needed. They made our stay that much more enjoyable.However, I counted at least 20 places to sleep on this property. A dorm area that can accommodate 16 sleepers, the master bedroom for 2 and a fold out sofa for 2 more. But only 1 bathroom with a shower/tub. In my opinion 6 people would be the max to stay comfortable. Although there is enough entertainment on the property to keep 20 occupied with a massive game room and tons of outdoor activities provided. So don't disappoint your selves by over booking.

Quick weekend stay with family before school got into full gear. We loved the property. It was a great place to stay with teens and the pup. We enjoyed the arcade room and the fire pit. The bunk room was perfect. I enjoyed having coffee by the lake in the mornings and we could see the door county sunsets from the dock. Only downsides- the area is remote. Which is great if you are looking for peace and quiet, but a bit of a drive to do door county things. Because of the remote location, the yard is very buggy. The owners are very strict about the check-in and checkout times and they are late/early, so it cut the trip shorter.Overall, I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to family and friends.

We really loved our stay. The game room was great.A couple things need attention: Window sills inside are pretty dirty.3 out of the 4 light bulbs are burned out in the main bathroom. We couldn't find any.Table in porch room needs the screws tightened.We hope to stay there again next year. It was just wonderful. Thank you so much.!!

Family Vacation 2025

My family had a wonderful time in Door County, and the location of the property was terrific. We were right on the water and took advantage of the kayaks in the adventure shed. The property is also in close proximity to beaches and parks. We only marked the property down a little on cleanliness due to the upkeep of the older part of the house. The bunk room and game room (newer section of house) are in terrific shape and well worth the money spent. The older section of the house, however, with the main bedroom, kitchen, and bonus room could use a little help. Things could definitely be updated a bit to match the price being paid for the house. Also, the description includes "swimming and fishing" from the location (or at least that is how we read it), but honestly the water is so shallow and has such a rocky entrance, it would be difficult to swim at the house. There is a beach 4 minutes down the road, which is awesome, but loading the family in the car to swim is different than being able to swim from your own property. There are also not a lot of large fish that will come up to the property due to the shallow waters, so fishing is best done in other locations, as well.

Great little spot

We all had a wonderful time, it is in a great location. Perfect place to relax! We had two older teen boys with us and even they had a great time! They lived in the kayaks, they fished from them and also from the dock. We all enjoyed the game room and yard games. The coffee bar was a nice little perk, especially on the chilly mornings. My husband and I took a bike ride around the neighborhood and everyone was so friendly. We would absolutely recommend the Lake Haus!

Disappointed

Wasn’t exactly what we thought it would be that there would be more shoreline to be able to walk on, but it wasn’t. I know can’t control whether but it was horrible. Nothing but rain every single day actually left out two days early. Had a tree come down due to bad storms thank goodness there were neighbors around to help with a chainsaw. Otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get to the house. The power went out which then caused no water. Shower was a little hard to handle very little water pressure. The master bedroom bed extremely squeaky also ended up having to have a crew come out after power came back on to have the TV at least work in the pouring rain since we couldn’t go outside unable to locate the darts, and the games were a little more for the kids than adults so again just hard and with the water not working was not able to use the bathroom for quite some time which is difficult Just all in all wasn’t really what we expected and like I said hard to determine whether I understand that, but just not for us

Perfect getaway for family with teens

The house with a separate bunk area and game room was perfect for our 16 year son and his friend. When they weren’t hanging out inside, they were kayaking, biking and fishing (all equipment was part of the stay). At night we enjoyed and outdoor fire pit and sitting in front of the fire in the living room watching Netflix.The location, the accommodations, activities, the management company - five stars all around!

Relaxing!

Very relaxing getaway to explore Door County! Even if it was wintertime, there's still so much to see and enjoy. I had to ask Emily a couple questions while we were there and she was very prompt with answering. Very easy check in and out process. The gameroom was awesome! Overall the property was very nice!

Comfortable for our family outing

We were quite comfortable at the The Lake Haus. It was very peaceful looking out at the bay from the firepit area and the sunsets from the dock were gorgeous. The game room was a hit with everyone, especially the golf and Tempest arcade games and the electronic dart board. The bunk room was very well laid out and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen and living room/dining area were a bit small for our group of nine, but we made do without too much trouble. This was a nice place to stay for our 3-night get-away. We took many walks around the neighborhood and encountered many friendly smiles and waves along the way. Our stay was peaceful and we enjoyed the accommodations. I would recommend this rental to others for sure. Also, I have to give a shout out to Emily and Bernice for their wonderful communication over the weeks/months leading up to our stay. They answered any question I had and the check-in/check-out process was so easy. Thank you.

Everything you need is right here!

Kayaks, cornhole, fire pit, game room. Our family had a blast hanging out and enjoying everything this property had to offer. We would absolutely go here again. Host communicated regularly and answered any questions we had.

Lake house

We enjoyed the game room, sun room, fire pit, and all of the activities in the shed especially the kayaks. The house had supplies we didn’t expect like dish soap, shampoo, blankets, laundry detergent, etc. which was a surprise to us. While the home has AC, I think a dehumidifier is needed because there was a smell which irritated some guests allergies and asthma.

Loved this cabin!

We found this cabin to be spotless and well-stocked! We brought more than we needed such as paper products but previous renters may have left the extra napkins, TP, and paper towels. There were plenty of towels and washcloths. Several choices of where to eat including a picnic table, game room table, kitchen table, outdoor table, and a porch table. The game room was fun, especially for when we had a rainy night in. The outdoor storage area was stocked with kayaks and a canoe, fishing poles, bikes and other outdoor accessories. We didn't have young children or a pet, but this would be perfect for them as well. The lake off the dock is shallow, so no fishing there but good for kayaking on. We loved the ample chairs for the fire pit.

Weekend getaway

Our trip was great. The house is small and is probably better for a summer getaway, than a winter one, but we made it work. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and eating. The game room was fun, although some of the things were broken. The mattresses in the bunk bed room were super comfy. My one recommendation would be to pay very close attention to the pictures. I guess I didn't because I didn't realize there wasn't really a couch if you used the second bedroom, just a couple of chairs and there also wasn't a table more that more than 3 or 4 people could sit at. Great location and in the summer, it would be amazing. Thank you to the hosts for being thoughtful in the supplies available in the house.

Off season stop

Not summer. Not winter. Just a quick stop on some cold and cloudy fall days. We can imagine summer days would be perfect for a family or small group. Fall and winter lovely for a couple or maybe two couples, though only one shower inside the master bed/bath so it would be cozy.
