'Don’t understand all of the glowing reviews. Room was tiny, bathroom walls had white stains all over and toilet paper stuck to them, shower floor was level with the rest of the bathroom floor so the water just flowed across the whole bathroom, which was very unsafe. Neighborhood didn’t feel very safe. Really glad this was just a quick stay for us.'

'Room was great. Clean and well maintained. The pool water was very hot and cloudy. The pool is also not oceanfront so the deck area was very hot. Not awful as we came for the beach but it would have been nice to have the option. There were restaurants on either side with bars which made for a variety of evening entertainment options. Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast area is very small but options were adequate. Free parking area was very limited and tight under the building but paid...

'The Shem Creek Inn was a good home base for us in Charleston. The hotel pool was great. The location overlooking the river was really fun for people watching! Hotel parking is really convenient. Walkable to several restaurants right on the water and a quick drive to other restaurants on Sullivan's Island. The hotel breakfast is ok. Not great, but easy. Fridge and microwave in the room were really helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we're back in the area.'

'The breakfast and service was very good! Our room needed a clothing hook repaired and the walk in shower floor was cracked. Other than those things needing some maintenance attention, everything else was just fine. It was a very convenient location for us. I would stay again.'

'Great hotel right on the beach! Walkable area, there was construction going on with the sidewalks so traffic was kinda backed up..probably not the best timing with it being a holiday but they looked like they are moving fast. Other than that we would stay here again.'

'The room was poorly cleaned. In fact, I would not walk barefoot on those floors. I requested to have the room cleaned and they supposedly did. I went back to the room and it was still the same. There was a long piece of hair on the bathroom door from the moment I checked in to the moment I left the hotel. The room was supposedly cleaned three times during my stay, yet the long very visible hair was never removed. Overall dirty, the elevator floors were also very dirty.'
