Authentieke ervaring
Hotel Aurora is een authentieke ervaring, het is een oud palazzo met charmante details Hoge plafonds (5 m) met schildering, kroonluchter en marmer. Het past bij de omgeving, het oude Ortigia. Het comfort is wat teleurstellend, (harde matrassen, douche is wat behelpen) maar als je niet te veel verwacht is het een heel leuk hotel met vriendelijk personeel.

Hotellet lever bestemt ikke op til sine 3 stjerner. Det er nedslidt - balkonen er f.eks. livsfarlig, der er ikke TV eller WiFi på værelset, morgenmad serveres på en café i nærheden, receptionens engelskkundskaber fraværende, rengøringen under al kritik og servicen generelt ringe... Men kan man leve med det, er hotellet meget charmerende og beliggenheden perfekt (undtaget parkeringsforholdene).

This hotel has seen better days
The hotel is placed in what clearly used to be a beautiful building but is now deteriorated. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and there was no one in the hotel, we had to wait in the street for around 20 minutes till the lady in charge arrived. Although she gave us a map and gave us useful tips related to things we could visit, she did it in a hurry, like she had other things to do even though we were the only guests there at the moment. It rained that morning, and some water and dirt entered our room through the windows, no one bothered to clean that up before we arrived. Fortunately, the next day the room was properly cleaned after we came back. Wi fi connection was very poor.

Unsere Buchung war beim Eintreffen nicht auffindbar und wir hatten kein Zimmer. Als ich darauf bestanden habe, wurde dann eine Lösung gefunden. Bei der Abreise sollte ich dann die drei Tage bezahlen, obwohl ich über Expedia schon gezahlt hatte. Erst lange Anrufe bei Expedia konnten die Sitation dann klären. Das 1. Geschoss des Hotels ist sehr schön, aber schon sehr mitgenommen. Unser Zimmer hatte eine fantastische Aussicht, die Ausstattung war eher notbehelfsmässig. Ein SEHR kleines Frühstück gab es in einem 5 Minuten Laufweg entfernten Touristencafe, das sehr saftige Preise hat wenn man mehr möchte als eine Speise + ein Getränk (was nicht sehr schwer ist...). Das Personal ist freundlich spricht aber so gut wie kein Englisch. Es ist uns völlig unverständlich wie man bei so einer schönen Lage und viel Potential ein Hotel so kaputt gehen lassen kann.

Sehr schöne Lage und freundliches Personal
Der Blick vom Zimmer auf das Meer ist wunderbar. Der Stadtstrand ist zu Fuß in gut fünf Minuten zu erreichen, direkt gegenüber liegt die Bushaltestelle (leise Elektrobusse), falls man mal auf das Festland möchte. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und gibt nützliche Tips zu Restaurants abseits der Touristenwege (z.B. das Benvenuti al Sud).

Hôtel à oublier
très déçu... Incroyable que cet hôtel soit classé 3 étoiles... Très vétuste et sale, aucun sens du service client, chambre très chère (env 95€) pour un confort inexistant, c'est à croire que le classement 3 étoiles remonte au 19ème siècle !

Great location and view of the water in this old hotel with poor plumbing (used toilet paper cannot be flushed and is put in a small garbage can beside the toilet). Breakfast (1 croissant and 1 coffee) served in bistro around the corner from the hotel. Staff didn't know name of bistro (Anglo Snack). Reception staff (owner?) sitting in a darkened area behind a high counter in the front area of this first floor walk up was not a welcoming sight.

Poor provincial hotel
Had booked and paid for 3 rooms but reception staff attempted to reduce this to 2 for no valid reason. Car parking for whole of island is restricted to residents for whole of 24 hours. They did have 2 places immediately outside the hotel which were used by members of staff. There were no catering faciliities of any kind. Breakfasts, a croissant and a cup of coffee were available at a cafe half a mile away from the hotel. Orange juice etc were available at extra cost. No drinking glasses were provided. As 3 star hotel facilities were poor to non existant

Could not leave fast enough.
This is the first time I have ever walked out of a room. Not a vacation spot for sure. If you like dark shaddy places this is it.

Bra läge!
De hade slarvat bort vår boxning och försökte få oss att betala mer för ett större rum, men till slut löste det sig. Fick ett jättestort rum till samma pris. Frukost äter man på ett café nere vid torget. I övrigt väldigt charmigt på ön Ortyga som är en del av Syrakusa!

la nostra camera vista mare era grande e confortevole pulizia appena sufficiente. con il pass che ci ha dato la direzione abbiamo risolto il problema del parcheggio.Il resto della positività sta nella città di Ortigia che è straordinaria sotto il profilo storico culturale.A pochi km il mare è molto bello.Il mio giudizio complessivo è positivo e non sono d'accordo con alcune recensioni dell'hotel che viene descritto peggio di un mostro anche se riconosco che un po di volontà e disponibilita in più renderebbe il giudizio solo positivo

Gan rechazado mi comentario anterior por ser negativo. Por lo visto solo aceptan comentarios positivos. Reitero que este hotel es un engaño con sus 3 estrellas. Es muy sucio, baños compartidos, cuarto piso sin elevador, sin televisor ni aire acondicionado.

God beliggenhed
Et gammelt og slidt hotel, hvor rengøringen ikke er i centrum. Dog var sengetøj og håndklæder rene og fine, men lidt støv og nullermænd var at finde. Badeværelse tilkalket og nusset at se på, men ikke decideret beskidt. Til gengæld oser hotellet af charme - sådan som jeg kan lide det - ved at være "skævt" og langt fra standard. Med adskillige meter til loftet og en lille balkon med udsigt over Middelhavet så er jeg solgt. Der er meget støj fra gaden, hvis man sover med åben dør. Parkeringsplads svær at finde - vær forberedt på, at det kan tage lidt tid.

Merita al massimo una stella. A parte la veduta panoramica eccellente , il resto è stata una delusione continua. Innanzitutto al 1° piano con 34 gradini da affrontare e senza un aiuto per portare i bagagli ( a 77 anni pesano molto), Camera spaziosa , luminosa , biancheria ottima ma il bagno lasciava a desiderare . Per la notte non esiste personale , Ti consegnano le chiavi e ti arrangi per l' entrata oltre le ore nove. Al mattino per la colazione un tagliando da presentare al bar Centrale, a 200 metri di distanza, nella piazza principale di Ortigia, Prezzo abnorme per i servizi, pochissimi, forniti. Mai più. Ho pernottato con mia moglie , figlia e nipotino il 18 giugno.

Despite booking the night before, when we arrived they told us the hotel was full so were offered a couple of rooms that weren't in use at that point. Picked a large, sea-facing room on the top floor with no en-suite and what turned out to be non-operational air-con. However, the price was consequently reduced from the original booking. The bathroom was in need of some TLC (lots of hot water though) but we survived quite happily without air-con despite the hot weather. The staff were great, didn't try the breakfast at the cafe down the road but the shop on the corner near the front door was great. It is a grand old Palazzo, in need of money spending on it but I thought it was a great place to stay for the price. I'd go back there if I was to stay in Ortigia again but stay in one of the best rooms.

l'unica cosa positiva è la posizione accanto al lungomare di Ortigia, ma l'hotel è fatiscente, con camere squallide, pavimento che vibra, letto scomodo, bagno con un vetro rotto. All'arrivo hanno cercato di appiopparci una camera con una porta a vetri satinati, che io ho rifiutato tassativamente. Colazione (brioche e cappuccino) a 300 metri presso un bar convenzionato. Rapporto qualità prezzo decisamente sfavorevole

Posizione: ottima; immobile: non manutenuto; camera: bella ma da tempo non si investe più nel tenere adeguati ed efficienti gli accessori soprattutto del bagno; Ma, il più grave è la promessa di colazione a buffet che si traduce in pratica in buoni per una consumazione in un bar in piazza Archimede con una bevanda e pasta! Peccato: ci sarebbero tutti gli ingredienti per un'ottima sistemazione che, per mancanza di entusiasmo e di investimenti, la si sta lasciando decadere!

Unbeschreiblich schmutzige zimmer
Wir kamen in den teilweise gar nicht spaßigen genuß zwei zimmer zu beziehen. Es handelt sich um zi nr 13 und nr15. Wir hatten dreibettzimmer gebucht wurden die erste nacht aber in ein winziges doppelzimmer gequetscht, sowas gibt es selten. Das bett war unterirdisch schlecht. Man hatte mühe nicht vom rand aus zusammen zu rutschen in die mitte, so durchgelegen war es. Noch schlimmer war der zustand v diesem zi 15. Unbeschreiblicher dreck wohin das auge blickte. Am boden kullerten die staubhexen durcs zimmer. Die vorhänge staubten bei der kleinsten berührung und im bad grauste es einem richtig. Die innenwände der dusche waren schmierig von rückständen die ränder der duschkabine schwarzbraun vor dreck. Der handtuchhalter war an unbenutzen stellen an der seite bchstäblich schwarz vor staub. Der schrank im zimmer ist unbenutzbar. Die innere rückwand auf gut 50 cm verschimmelt. Schimmel auch über dem schrank an der wand und in großen teilen an der wand gegenüber, nur optisch kaschiert durch einen scheinbar dicken anstrich. Bei licht sah man allerdings diese schimmligen stellen. Am nächsten tag bekamen wir unser gebuchtes dreibettzimmer. Es ist die nr 13. Dieses ist ein geräumiges eckzimmer, scheinbar ohne schimmel. Auch hier wieder die staubhexen am boden und die verschmierten innenwände der dusche, was uns aber wie im.paradies vorkam im gegensatz zu zi nr 15. Zum frühstück muß man in eine bar im ort gehen u bekommt ein getränk u ein gebäckstück. Thats all, kein gebuchtes buffet

優れた眺望でしたが、それ以外は予想以下でした。支払いを到着日に要求されました。スタッフが来るまで、wi-fiを使える部屋にも入れず、またチェックアウトすることもできませんでした。朝食はかなり離れたバーまで歩いて行かねばならず、駐車場も路上を探すように言われましたが、そう簡単には見つからず一苦労しました。

Better places to go to!
Good location and full of promise but there was no parking, breakfast was not in the hotel but across town in a bar. The bathroom was dirty and poorly maintained. Mould was growing on the wall around the aircon unit and the floor had not been cleaned for some time. A real shame as the building could be so much more with a little effort.

Ortegia is a wonderful place with plenty to see and do. The hotel was disappointing as it really needed some TLC and thought. It had tired charm because of the architecture, however the room had a wall light that fell down on minimum contact. Shower head bracket was broken. Mould on the walls and a deep layer of dust under the bed. There was no where comfortable to sit other than on the bed. The balcony had great views, but the wrought iron balustrade was rusting badly and the outer shutters were in such bad condition that they were starting to collapse. The fridge in the room was not working and guests were obliged to use a communal fridge in the corridor. Should a guest need to store medicines or specialised food it was not ideal.

A 30min walk from train station so no need for expensive taxi and located in a wonderful corner of Ortyga. My top floor room was a glorious high ceilinged classic bedroom with tall double doors to a small balcony with wonderful sea views from the bed. Good bathroom and plenty of hot water. Only criticism would be the noisy Ortyga traffic - absurd 4x4's, growling monster motor bikes, buzzy scooters and stinky diesels. When I was staying the hotel had subcontracted the included continental breakfast to a nice enough bar in Archimedes square. Recommended.

Except for view out the french doors of the sea....it was terrible! It was fithy....the halls were lite by sensors...it entire building was cold...beds were hard and lumpy...etc...etc...etc!!!!

El personal de recepción muy atento y dispuesto. Sin embargo el hotel se cae a pedazos. Nos dieron primero una habitación con humedad. Al reclamar nos dieron otra cuyo baño despedía tal olor a cloaca que no se podía dormir. Una pena porque el hotel està muy bien ubicado y con un poco de inversión y "limpieza" seria mucho mas atractivo

Why is it given a 3 star rating?
Having just finished a stay at a 3 star hotel in Taormina, the Aurora was a bit of a shock. Run down and scruffy, on the first floor ,3 fights of stairs, of a very dilapidated building. The first room we were allocated smelt very odd and the wardrobe was full of old bedding. We changed it. I think we were the only guests and if we hadn't already paid we would have left. There are no eating or drinking facilities, you are issued vouchers for a local cafe, a good 5 minute walk away.

Dirty, old, and lacking but great location!
This hotel hasn't been updated or maintained at all in the past 5-6 years. I stayed here in 2006 and it was charming and quaint, so I decided to stay again... This time it was horribly dirty. Everything was covered in a layer of dust, we looked under the bed and were disgusted: piles of dirt, lint, and dust bunnies. Shower was covered in mold and grime and the water didn't drain. Our room was large and antique and had a great partial sea view, and the fact that it was old and not really kept up didn't bother us really... it was actually kind of fun to be in such an old palazzo with so much character. The location is great, and Ortigia is such a magical place that nothing could have ruined our vacation. But this place is dirty. Honestly, I am much cleaner when I go camping. The dirtiness is what will keep me from staying at this hotel in the future, and what makes me want to tell everyone to run far away from this place!

Our room had a great view across the ocean and the hotel is in a good location, but given the price we felt it was poor value for money. The hotel is quite run down and a bit shabby although the staff were friendly and helpful. If it was less expensive I'd be happy to recommend it as we enjoyed our stay, but I expected more for what we paid.

Situato in Ortigia potrebbe avere tutte le potenzialità per fornire un soggiorno suggestivo e indimenticabile ma le condizioni dell'hotel e la gestione dei proprietari lascia molto a desiderare. La colazione non è disponibile in hotel ma ci si deve recare ad un bar neanche tanto vicino. La qualità della colazione è ottima ma si riduce semplicemente ad un cappuccino e un cornetto.

Terribile sotto ogni aspetto
Zero pulizia e zero assistenza da parte del personale (in particolare della direttrice). Dopo un fortissimo temporale ci siamo risvegliati con la camera completamente allagata a causa della porta del balcone che non si chiude bene. Siamo rimasti 3 ore fermi sul letto in una camera fredda, non pretendevamo che ci cambiassero immediatamente camera, ma che almeno facessero qualcosa almeno per aiutarci ad asciugare il più possibile! Ci hanno dato solamente altri asciugamani da mettere a terra davanti la porta....ma oramai la camera era già piena d'acqua! Non andateci!

Décevant. séjour annulé
Etonnée de recevoir votre demande d'appréciation compte tenu que nous avons annulé notre séjour après une nuit passée à l'Hôtel Aurora en accord avec la Direction de l'Hôtel et les services d'Expédia. Equipement et décoration de l'hôtel très décevant pour un 3* Pas d'ascenseur pour monter au 3ème étage, le jour de l'arrivée avec les babages sans personne pour nous aider. Le matin pas de petit déjeuner possible . Obligés d'aller prendre le petit déjuener en ville. Pas envisageable pour un séjour de 14 jours. Nous avons dû trouver par nous même un autre hötel tres satisfaisant un 3* également dans le même quartier, certes plus cher, mais incomparable sur tous les plans: service, climatisation décoration et propreté de la chambre, solarium,excellent buffet de petit déjeuner. Nous ne recommanderons pas l'hötel Aurora.

Great location
The converted palazzo has seen better days, but it still loaded with charm. The service was friendly, though not quite as helpful as some previous reviews had suggested. The room was comfortable, but the bathroom left a bit to be desired. The shower curtain was in desperate need of cleaning or replacement. Any shortcomings, however, are made up for by the amazing location of this hotel: a quiet neighborhood with views of the sea. Ortigia is definitely the place to stay when visiting Syracusa, and this hotel was within easy walking distance of all the sites there. Even the archaeological sites and museum in Syracusa proper, as well as the catacombs of S. Giovanni, are only a 20-30 minute walk. Breakfast was not served at the hotel itself, but at a cafe in the nearby Piazza Aretusa with its beautiful fountain as a backdrop.

Hotelli oli melkein sitä mitä lupasi- merinäkö-ala, parveke, sijainti ja mukava henkilökunta. Hotellin keittiöhenkilökunnan loman johdosta emme saaneet aamupalaa hotelissa mutta saimme siihen loistavan vaihtoehdon upealla aukiolla muutaman korttelin päässä. Luvattu minibaari/jääkaappi ei ollut huoneessa toimivana vaan yhteisjääkaappi oli hotellin käytävällä yhteinen muiden hotellin asukkaiden kanssa- joka kyllä toimi hyvin. Dette B&B ligger i en gammel og meget herskabelig bygning, men det er slidt og ikke helt vedligeholdt. Der er indrettet et lokale til at man kan få serveret morgenmad, men alligevel bliver man sendt ud i byen. Man bliver bedt om at gå ca. 200 m op ad gaden til en bestemt cafe, hvor man har ret til en kop kaffe og et stk brød. Der skulle også være gratis wi-fi, men det virker kun i receptionen, og når receptionisten ikke selv er på internettet. Auroras beliggenhed i centrum af byen opvejer dog en på diverse mangler.

Vi er meget utilfredse med hotellet, som er meget, meget nedslidt og trist. Møblementet er tarveligt, gardinerne hænger og er beskidte. Der er nusset og beskidt på værelserne, og der er afskallet maling mange steder. Badeværelserne er decideret ulækre. Minibarerne har ikke været i brug i årevis og er møgbeskidte. Morgenmaden er på en nærliggende cafe, hvor man kan få én kop kaffe og en cornetto (ikke meget i sammenligning med de andre hoteller, vi har besøgt på Sicilien på samme ferie). Efter kl. 21 om aftenen er der intet personale, så man er overladt til sig selv. Personalet (én person!) møder kl. 8.00. ved indgangen står, at 'hotellet' er et Bed & Breakfast...) Der er ingen faciliteter overhovedet, og vores værelser havde hverken tv eller telefon, som der ellers stod i bekræftelsen.Beliggenheden er derimod vidunderlig, og nogle værelser har skøn havudsigt. Også dejligt, at aircontionen virkede godt. Den høje pris matcher overhovedet ikke den ringe og tarvelige standard.

Beautiful location and great views. However, management not interested in faults reported - air conditioning not working, TV not working, bedside lights not working. Bathroom shower tray very mouldy. Breakfast not served in hotel - given vouchers for cafe - 5 minute walk from hotel. One pastry and one coffee per person. Paid €110 euros per night for this 'hostel' classed as a 3 star hotel. Very disappointed with my first Expedia booking. (Photos available) Moved to the B&B Ares Charme around corner next day which was brilliant at 70 euros per night!

ottimo per giovani ed adulti ma occhio alle scale
ottima posizione, anzi straordinaria ma va migliorata l'assistenza al cliente e rivisti alcuni dettagli del bagno sopratutto.

Grandeur et décadence
Hôtel de caractère avec plafonds peints, grandes et hautes pièces mais mal entretenu. Le pire est la salle de bains: douche sans bac véritable , rideau douteux, toilettes sans vraie chasse d'eau mais sorte de robinet. Il faut aussi préciser que la réception est au 1er étage sans ascenseur et sans personnel pour vous aider, personne à la réception la nuit et le petit déjeuner est à prendre dans un café à 5 mn à pieds. Sinon très belle situation en bord de mer et en plein centre (parking difficile).
