Jeffrey, I am sorry to hear that in some ways our place fell short of your expectations. I have owned this property for nearly 20 years and out of hundreds of reviews (mostly 5-star) this is one of the very few 3-star reviews we have ever received. We will look into the items that have to do with our unit but feel compelled to mention we have never made a habit of purchasing "cheap" items for our vacation home. Sometimes that may come down to opinion as we received two other 5-star reviews in the last 10 days. Regardless we will look into any worn items and replace them with quality products as part of our annual spring cleaning in the coming weeks. From your emails to me during your stay, I was made aware of your unhappiness about the restaurant and bar temporary closure. As I expressed in my correspondence with you I was sorry you were disappointed but I have no control over that situation. I have heard they are working on a resolution soon. I am happy that despite your 3-star review you felt our vacation home would have been adequate for you to return visit. The reason the rent was higher is that I have not adjusted my rates for next year as you saw the higher default settings. If you had contacted me I could have made the needed adjustment. Regardless, I am happy you found another place that suits you for next year, thanks again for your feedback, and best of luck in your future stays at Ocean Pointe. Gy

Thanks for your review and I am sorry you had trouble with the remotes. I will evaluate them and ensure they work properly for our next guests. It sounds like you were pleased with everything else in our property.

Having received nearly 200 5-star reviews I was shocked to see your recent review of our property. After reading your detailed review, it seems to be more of a review of the location than our actual property. We truly love the upper keys for the beautiful water, diving, fishing, great restaurants, and parks but I understand it isn't your cup of tea. Maybe Key West or Miami would be a better choice if you like a more crowded or commercial place. As far as the beaches go the Florida Keys are not known for their expansive beaches like other parts of Florida. But, there is a very nice private beach on the property that has plenty of beach chairs for guests to use. There is also a public beach a little over a mile away at Harry Harris Park. In Florida, at dusk, there are bugs called "no see ems". Bug spray usually works for them and they are prevalent throughout Florida and not associated with anything that our property did or didn't do. As far as your comments about our condo, I will certainly address any valid concerns you may have. All of the mattresses in the place do in fact have box springs and all of the mattresses are under 5 years old. The dishes and cooking utensils are new within the last year or so but I will make sure our cleaning service evaluates them and the towels to see if they need to be replaced again. I hope you find a location for your next vacation that is better suited to your personal tastes.

Thanks a ton for your 5-star review of our property and your feedback. We are thrilled you had a wonderful stay. We recently visited the property and purchased Amazon's highest-rated memory foam mattress for the fold-out couch. It feels much more comfortable. Also, note that we do not supply fishing poles as keeping them in good order is almost impossible. Any fishing items in the unit were likely left by previous renters and we cannot attest to their condition. Thanks again for your review, Gy

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. There are plenty of nice chairs (regular and beach chairs) at the pool and private beach on the property. I have never had a request for supplying additional beach chairs for renters but we will consider getting some for our place the next time we are in the unit ourselves.

I am sorry that your stay was not ideal. I would have gladly addressed the issue immediately if you had let me know sooner during your stay instead of notifying me after you departed. The air conditioner is the correct size for the unit and was cooling fantastic when we visited the property a few weeks ago. This is the first we have heard of the issue and will get the problem corrected immediately.
