Beds were comfy.. don't book a standard twin room because you will be at the back of the building on the very noisy road..we did and regretted it!.. the hotel wasn't busy from what we could see..so the management could have upgraded us we thought.. not somewhere we would consider going back to unless there was a really good deal to be had..

The property is lovely but in major need of some tlc. The bathroom and water pressure were awful, the shower barely got you wet. Breakfast was cold and of poor quality, also didn’t match the menu, no staff around to ask or clear tables either. We ended up going out for breakfast subsequent mornings. Staff being no where to be found was a regular occurrence, overhead other guests refusing to pay for evening meals as they were inedible. A lot of guests with dogs in the hotel (to the point i felt like the only guest without a dog), didn’t bother me but definitely one to bear in mind.

Stayed one night at the hotel. Hotel very clean but very dated. Staff issues meant they were short staffed anyway and then one waitress had to go home sick which meant the one poor girl on reception doing everything. Reception, bar drinks, restaurant serving. Staff were all very nice and accommodating. Very good place to stay if you have a dog. Dogs allowed in bar area and restaurant. Nice location for Dawlish.

We enjoyed a lovely couple of days at the Cliffden hotel. It is in a great location and surrounded by beautiful gardens. . Our double room was clean and comfortable and all of the members of staff were cheerful and welcoming. They worked really hard to provide everything that we needed for our stay. The chef provided some delicious meals, which were hot and well presented. All in all a great stay and excellent value for money. We will definitely stay again.

Positives and negatives. Excellent position, Teignmouth worth spending some time in and easily walkable. Staff excellent, good value stay, meal in restaurant quite good and breakfast excellent. However, lots of road noise in room all day and night and no double glazing. A breeze coming in around the window blew the blind. Room was next to stairs and lots of noise from other guests going up and down. Ask for room in better position.

Superb location, beautiful gardens great breakfast
Stayed here previously and was much cheaper 2nd time round and better value. Location superb, gardens stunning. Breakfast tasty and plentiful. Staff friendly and helpful. Quirky rooms and hotel, clean. Only downside is its noisy because it has original doors and windows. But wouldn't stop me booking again. I look forward to my next visit.

Okay hotel Positives- room spacious and clean Easy to find, free parking and secure, nice location, friendly staff. Nice coffee at breakfast. Improvements - breakfast was not great, no menu, lots of food run out, sausages and bacon poor quality. One guest handled all the bread and then put it back, no tongs to prevent other people handling food. Room was by the busy main road so difficulty sleeping, also had a street lamp directly opposite the window with no black out curtains, so had a light shining all night. Beds adequate but could be bigger singles with the size of the room, average comfort level. No swimming pool facility. Overall stay was okay, I probably wouldn’t book again , with some improvements it could be much better.

Nice but could do better
Lift is only just operational very very slow, breakfast is OK despite being there as it opened cooked foods are warm at best. Road noise is atrocious People walking around makes the whole room creak so awoke at 430am due to people vacating. Initial room stank of sewers, does no one check them prior to a guest going in?

We had a very spacious family room with our own balcony that looked over the gardens and sea. The room was very clean and comfortable and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Good hotel, big rooms, friendly staff. We were there went the hotel was full and there was parking when we came back late at night. Breakfast was a buffet and this would be the downside it could go on an hour long which would relieve the issues of being too busy between 9 and 9.30 and some of the options were tasteless

This was our third visit to the hotel, very friendly and pleasant staff. Breakfast was amazing except for only supplying skimmed milk all week and no orange juice for two days. The grounds are wonderful and the patio area and view are really stunning.

Lovely hotel with fantastic private gardens with easy access to sea front and lovely town. Train station a gem with cheap fares and picturesque travel to other towns didn't use the car all week.

I stayed here with a colleague on a business trip, so first time and what luck, a most beautiful place, location, service and the rooms were top quality and very clean, the views are wonderful, I will be coming back for sure, thanks to all staff and especially Charlotte on reception

Ideal hotel for both dogs and people!
Fantastic position with grounds and close to a very dog friendly beach and walks. Staff always friendly and helpful. Hotel also accepts dogs at a very reasonable rate.

Ok but very dated and we left tired !
This hotel is best rated as OK. Very dated rooms that were not particularly clean, and rooms facing the road were extremely noisy from early in the morning when the commute starts. For a business trip. I wouldn’t recommend this, but if I was in my latter years enjoying a couple of days in the area maybe it would be okay. It does have a feeling that it caters for a much older clientele, which is absolutely fine of course, but probably not what we were looking for when staying in in the area on a business trip . Perhaps when the pool reopens, although the sign did say, it is closed indefinitely, it will benefit from having a few more facilities.
