Pleasant, needs updates
The pictures on line are older, and do not reflect present conditions. We enjoyed our stay, great location. BUT, the place badly needs to be updated and is not well maintained. Just a lot of little things. The biggest problem was that the host was not truthful when asked about the hot tub. I specifically asked if it was working (because of earlier reviews) and was told it was working, it was not, probably has not worked in awhile, the pump motor is buried in sand. We loved the wildlife, howler monkeys in the morning, a family of raccoons, and the iguanas. Not the cleanest place, the floors were swept but not mopped. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very quaint and we enjoyed our stay, bit a lot of maintenance and updates need to be done, such as the shower head in the master bathroom.

Incredible location, house needs some love
Pros: -location, it's right on the beach and is very private -pool and pool area is very nice and relaxing -neighboring dog would come by and hang out with us at random times -views from master bedroom, living room and rooftop are amazing -wifi worked great Cons: -lots of ants in one of the poolside bedrooms on the bottom floor -house needs some general repairs and replacements, broken light fixture in bathroom, toilet seats stained, broken plastic adirondack chairs on rooftop deck, etc. -no shelves or anything in poolside bedroom bathrooms, no luggage racks -palapa on beach was unusable, looks like it's being demolished -every room in the house has a separate set of keys and alarm, lots to keep up with -sliding glass door in poolside bedroom would not lock, there was an iron bar door that did lock to keep people out. But the bars are wide enough that someone could reach through and grab anything within reach. Overall: The house looks very impressive upon arrival. Once you get in, you can quickly see where it has been neglected. The house is also very segmented. While it's a good place to sleep for a group of 6 like us, there was not really an indoor area for us to hangout comfortably as a group. There is no shade on the rooftop deck, so that was great for early morning and nighttime. The main living area with the kitchen has only a small sofa and one chair, aside from the dining room table. The kitchen is much smaller than expected but was all in working order. We did love the gas stove and laundry room. The onsite caretaker was pleasant but is seemingly always around. It didn't bother us, but some may not like it. He also stressed to us many times to always lock up and use the safes in the rooms. We didn't have anything stolen or suspect anybody attempting to enter the property. This is a cool house, off the beaten path. With some updates and other general repairs, it could be a 5-star accommodation. As is, we probably would not stay here again.

Unique Beach front paradise
This property had everything my family was looking for in a relaxing secluded beach side vacation! We had the most amazing time enjoying the wild life including a pack of monkeys and raccoons that visited through out our stay! We felt safe with Fernando the house keeper staying on the property, as well as a good security system. The pool was beautiful and relaxing and roof top sun sets were magical. If you are looking to unwind on almost private beach this is the spot!

Great get-away
This was our first Costa Rica trip and it didn't disappoint. The house is rustic, but has everything you need and the location is amazing. The top deck in particular is worth every penny. If you're looking for something out of the way, I'd definitely recommend this stay. We loved it.

RENTERS BEWARE!!!
There is a reason why there are SO many locks and keys and a security system(which didn’t work for half of our visit. This part of Costa Rica is remote, and prone to “bandidos”. On our first full day while relaxing by the pool, the next door neighbor starts screaming bandido bandido and chasing a guy out of his house with a machete. I guess the guy was trying to rob them. Then he’s calling for Fernando to come help, but Fernando was gone. The guy tried to run into our yard but I was there and he stopped. Naturally this tainted the rest of our trip and I didn’t go anywhere again without carrying a machete. This is not my idea of a relaxing trip. As for the property, it was nice, but way way overdue for updates. 1. The toilet was turned off, but I turned it on. 2. The washing machine leaked and we couldn’t use it. 3. The jacuzzi tub button didn’t work. So, later, I found out if you want to use it, after you fill it up, you have to crawl into a service access opening to physically plug it in. When you are done, you have to reach in there and unplug it. 4. The master bed is ridiculously loud. Just turning from your back to your side makes so much noise it woke me and my wife up. 5. The air conditioner in the master bedroom works, but is much less cold than the other rooms. 6. Both downstairs rooms smell musty, like mold. 7. The shade covering was ripped to pieces when we got there. Shade is very important to us, so I spent time and repaired it well enough to use. The house in general is really nice, although its really showing age. Needs to be painted. The beach setting is amazing. We had a bonfire which was awesond. We loved having someone come cook for us one night. What a treat. The local restaurants were easy to get to and pretty good, guacamaya was our favorite. The sunsets here are great too. Fernando was very nice and helpful when he could be.

More Rested and Relaxed than Ever!
We are sitting in the Liberia airport, waiting for a flight back to Denver and SO HAPPY that we have missed 2 major snowstorms during our 2 week stay. Casa Alegre was a very nice retreat from our very busy, stressful lives, and as we sit here, we are more relaxed and refreshed than we have been in the past year. The absolute star of this house is the outdoor space. The rooftop deck is INCREDIBLE for morning coffee, cocktails (and dinner) at sunset. We waited until the last night to have Fernando (onsite manager) to ask to fill the jacuzzi tub and wish we would have asked on the first day! Soaking in the tub with a glass of wine, whilst watching the sunset is an incredible memory that we will never forget. The pool is so refreshing to dip into when you come back from hot beach, or if you are like us, to sit by for half of the day. There was always bright sunshine (my fave) and plenty of shade if needed (hubby's fave). The kitchen is well equipped, and Gio will even DO YOUR GROCERY SHOPPING for you before you arrive! Bedrooms - the beds are all a bit hard, but after a day, we slept easily. It was a perfect, restful, relaxing trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Guacamaya Lodge for dinner (HIGHLY) and APV Tours for an adventure tour. Both were beyond great. Pura Vida!

Secluded, quiet, "private beach"
We spent a week with some friends we had not seen in years. Overall we had an enjoyable experience. The property is in a more remote area so very private. The views from anywhere on the property are breath taking. The beach is just a minute walk out the back door. Beach waas clean and sandy, no rocks hidden under the surface. The house was pretty much as described. It was clean. I found the kitchen to be minimalistically stocked wih utensils, and cookware. And for the rental price, with lower end utensils, cookware. The gas grill was in good shape, unfortunately we only could use it once and then the gas ran out. I think having a spare tank on hand would be reasonable, or at least have instructions on hand in regards to replacing it. The jacuzzi tub on the roof is a nice concept, would be nicer if it actually worked. We finally got around to using it the last day, only to find the pump would not turn on. The poolside lounger chains still had the same ugly stains on them that someone else commented on. We just flipped them over so we would not have to look at them. Overall the house needs a little TLC. The house has a lot of potential, but I felt for the money it fell a little short. Fernando was great and responsive, he does not speak any English, but we managed fine. Grounds were well maintained. Area restrauants were all excellent. Near by grocery store well stocked. Manager communication good.

I apologize for the gas tank & jacuzzi mishap - had Fernando or I known, we would have gladly replaced the gas tank as we always keep an extra full on the premises and Fernando would have taken care of the Jacuzzi issue right away. The cookware at the house is all stainless grade pots and pans. Yes, unfortunately, there is a surfboard wax stain on one of the lounger which is becoming difficult to remove - we are working on that. Although the house itself is a bit older we make sure to always have updated sheets, towels, both bath and beach, bedspreads and items in the kitchen. Again thank you for your review and we hope that you will one day return to our little piece of paradise that we call Junquillal.

Dream house
My family and I came with my 86 year old grandmother and this house made our Costa Rica experience! The home was so private , we enjoyed the private black sand beach. The views from the rooftop along with the hot tub were incredible. Although mobility is an issue for my grandmother, the walk upstairs was not too difficult for her. Everything in the home is top quality . We also felt very safe and the grounds keeper was so friendly and respectful. Every time I return to Costa this will be my go to home !

Father son fishing trip
This is a beautiful property and an amazing location. The house is near the end of the beach and a short walk to the estuary where there is great fishing. A true 10 out of 10. The staff was great and every detail was simple and trouble free. We will definitely be back.

Perfect house to chill and recharge
From the outset, communication with property manager Brenda Carlin was extraordinary. She was in daily contact when we needed her and responsive almost immediately. Great info at the beginning and throughout our stay. Fernando couldn't have been better at helping us at times and not bothering us otherwise. Like many locals, his English is very limited so be prepared. The house is very true to the photos and very comfortable for an extended stay. We spent many days just lounging and reading around the gorgeous pool where there's a shady area at all times of day and the water temp was perfect relief from the warmer air. It's clear the owner has been diligent in investing in the house with recent extensive window replacements, updated bathrooms and kitchen, and plenty of what is needed to do meals at home. More comfortable seating and better lighting in the seating area would be nice and in keeping with the other upgrades. Extremely easy access to miles of gray sand beach, which was mostly deserted during our April visit. Turtle nests are evident on the upper beach and we say pelican flocks as large as 60 at a time. It's wonderful to see an area where nature is still triving and humans haven't yet pushed things into decline. All in all, a great restful vacation and kudos to the staff for superb support.

Highly recommended
Casa Alegre is the best VRBO experience I’ve ever had! Gorgeous property, fabulous house, incredible views, perfect pool, turtle fun, and - the best part - having Brenda and Fernando to help with any and everything. Stayed with 4 friends and we didn’t want to leave. Our favorite night was having Juan Carlos and Rosa prepare a gourmet meal for us at home. Also enjoyed Guacamaya, Mundo Milo, and Lola’s for dinners out. Don’t hesitate, just book it!

Wonderful house on a wonderful beach! We enjoyed the pool? The beach with warm water, the sun deck!
The only part of the house that I had a hard time understanding prior to our arrival was that the two downstairs bedrooms only have slider access to the outside. The house is a very outdoor space oriented design, and there are no interior stairs or interior hallways. Every room opens to the outside. This was not a problem for us, but was a little unique with children and explaining to them how to get in and out of the security gates, since their rooms opened to the exterior. Overall a wonderful experience and a wonderful house. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for having us!!!

Unforgettable Honeymoon
Location is everything! This beach town is super small, tight-knit, and welcoming. My husband and I aren’t extraverts by nature, but the people in the community strike up conversations - “how do you like Costa Rica?; where are you from?; oh! You have to try this restaurant....” This beach is one of a kind. You can find amazing shells, help release baby turtles with the local conservation effort, explore the rocks, and even cross the mangrove estuary to get to another part of the beach. Brenda, the property manager, was amazing. Before we arrived, she emailed a bunch of helpful information- excursions, restaurants, things to do, travel tips, etc. During our stay, she checked in via What’s Ap several times to make sure we were having the best experience possible. She even booked an in-house massage for us, as well as our kayaking mangrove tour. Fernando and Bracsi, the workers that stay on site, were so sweet. They don’t speak much English, but are easy to understand. It seemed to me like they try to stay out of sight so you can enjoy your stay. The home itself is not super clean. HOWEVER - I think it is as clean as it CAN be, since you’re truly at the beach but in a dry forest. Yes, there are bugs. I think you will find this anywhere you stay in CR. It seems like the ants were nocturnal. They didn’t bother us, though. They don’t bite or anything. We did, however, keep our bread/cereal/etc. in the oven to keep them out of reach. The tub on the rooftop appeared (to me) to be a hot tub. It is actually just a jetted tub that you personally fill. This was kind of a bummer, because it didn’t have a cover to keep bugs out. Fernando was great about cleaning it, but we still decided not to use it. The pool is super refreshing! Even during 95degree days, it feel cool. The pictures (again, to me), made it appear like the house was interconnected. The two bedrooms at the bottom of the house are not accessible from the inside. They are only accessible from the outside pool area. It’s a rule that children can’t stay in the pool-side/downstairs bedrooms, and for good reason! One of the bedroom’s doors only has about an 18” clearance from the pool. Also, drunk adults beware! The master bedroom bed is awful. However, we would be so tired after a day of sun that we slept fine anyways. All and all, we loved our stay. We got to experience so much right in the neighborhood. We plan on returning to Junquillal ASAP!!!

Thank you for the 5 star review. I’m so sorry that the bed was not comfortable for you…I’m glad we spoke and that you clarified that it was just too hard for you. The owner is actually at the house now and although they love the bed, we are going to get a pillow top for the mattress. Sorry for the confusion of the tub on the roof deck…it does says jacuzzi and not hot tub….I’m sure being in the sun the water gets pretty warm and makes the keys that much nicer!! Thank you for your patience and assistance with the gas stove….we now have a brand new beautiful 5 burner gas stove installed. It was a pleasure having you and Mitch stay with us and hopefully we will see you again in the future.!!!

Beautiful Quaint Secluded Beach Rental
Me and my wife stayed at this beautiful secluded beachfront property and everything went so smoothly and wonderfully. Brenda made sure that everything was in order and that everything went smoothly including making sure that we were prepared in this foreign country. The home is absolutely beautiful, clean, and very well kept. Had a relaxing, stress-free stay and enjoyed every second of it!

Amazing House and Management
My wife and I stayed at Casa Alegre for 3 nights and it was absolutely perfect! Brenda, the property manager was highly communicative and helpful throughout. Within one hour of arriving she called to let us know that the sea turtle hatchery was about to release some babies into the ocean. My wife and I went down there immediately (it’s only 1 mile away) and got to see it thanks to Brenda. What a great surprise! Fernando was incredibly kind as well, showed us the property, and lives on the property if you ever need anything. You barely see him, but it’s nice knowing he’s around if needed. The property is also beautiful. You are steps from the beautiful black sand beach, and it’s rare to see more than a few people on the beach. You almost have it all to yourself. Watching sunsets on the rooftop was our favorite part of the stay. We spent the first 3 nights of our trip at the Westin Playa Conchal and then the final 3 nights here. It was great to see multiple places, but enjoyed our stay here more than the Westin. We would definitely go back and thanks to Brenda and Fernando for making it such a great experience.

10 Days in Paradise!
We had a great time at the house. Secluded, peaceful and relaxing would be our takeaway. This was our first time in Costa Rica and while we did our due diligence, we really weren't prepared for HIGH degree of "off the beaten path" Juanquillal truly is!! That said, the "local" restaurants are great, people are fantastic and the house did exactly what we had hoped: allowed for a ridiculously relaxing 10 days....sleeping with the windows open was priceless!

Beachfront bliss
The house is absolutely amazing and is exactly how it is in the photos if not better. The beach is almost private. We actually didn’t see anyone. We had the luxury of having the 3 bedroom house just for the 2 of us. Jacuzzi on roof top watching sunset was most romantic. Lovely pool. If you keep eyes open you will see a family of 3 big raccoons visit every night. Brenda is the best host - very responsive with everything. Must try the day spa at Los Altos Eros - it is heaven. Ask Brenda to book for you. We hope we’ll be back at this gorgeous house very soon!

Beachungle
If you want to be right on the beach, but also have the inland jungle feel, this is the house for you....hence the name Beachungle. Our goal was to be remote enough so the kids can play without concerns of a crowded beach, but close enough to get to activities. We went with 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 pre-teens. The sunset over the beach was absolutely stunning. There was maybe 3-6 people we saw every day on the beach. Yes, there are ants and small critters, but most houses that we’ve visited right on the beach have them. The house has mangos and coconuts on the property and Fernando, the house manager, cut open a coconut for us to enjoy. We went north to Tamarindo, Brasilito, and even visited the volcano. We were not sure we would enjoy being so remote with our broken Spanish, but we loved every moment and had no issues. Highly recommend, just don’t book the week that I want to visit again!

Second Stay in Paradise!
Our family loves to travel to new places, but we all fell in love with this beach house so much two years ago that we decided to return and spend more time in this rental. It was a perfect pandemic location - lots of space to socially distance on what feels like a private beach! We loved the body surfing, long walks on the beach and shelling. Tamarindo is a short drive for charter fishing and many other tourist activities. The house itself is funky and functional, providing privacy for our young adults but also great gathering places. The roof deck, pool, and dining table with an unbelievable ocean view were all favorites. Walk down to the water on a new moon night and check out the bioluminescence in the ocean water - very cool! We also loved the turtle sanctuary. They released turtles just in front of the beach house this morning as we were taking a last walk on the beach! This is truly a magical place! -The owner and caretaker are both fantastic too!

Best family trip ever (and we travel quite a bit)!
We had the most spectacular time here in Costa Rica. We weren't totally sure how it would all go down with COVID, but everyone of the locals and people that had to come to the house (our internet was down so there were people in and out over a couple of the days and then the chef and helpers) and everyone wore masks. Kind people, very clean property and the surroundings are SPECTACULAR!! We enjoyed early morning coffee on the rooftop deck, watching the stars, the moon set and the sun come up. There were some bugs, but bug spray worked just fine for all of us during the mornings and at night. Property manager checked in often as we were without WiFi the entire trip, but that was not their fault. The phone company did replace while we were there, but still couldn't get it to work. We made the best of the disconnect as we swam in the pool, ran/walked on the beach ever morning (which is stunning, soft, and empty (and not due to COVID, the locals told me it was always empty like that) and enjoyed all the critters that came around for a visit. Sunsets were breathtaking every night and we got to see 2 different times that turtles were released on the beach. Our boys (13 and 15 years old) had a great time body surfing and boogie boarding, but did have a close call with a rip current on our second to last night. It is something to be very aware of and conscious of. They were back in the water the next day, but we were much more diligent in watching over them. Went on excursions to Palo Verde National Park and had very close interactions with crocs, monkeys, bats, iguanas and a ton of different birds. The locals then made traditional pottery and Costa Rican meals for us. It was SOOOOOO tasty! We were shocked at how clean the locals keep their communities as we had to drive 2 hours to get to the excursions. There is a lot of pride within this area to take care of what they have. Then we did the all day Adventure Tour in Ricon de la Veja (think I am spelling wrong), just outside of Liberia. It was worth the 2 hour drive (which is beautiful and interesting, our kids didn't mind one bit or complain) as we got to inner tube down rapids, horseback ride, zipline through the most stunning canyons and waterfalls and then end the day soaking in the hot springs after a mud bath...it was so quite and we were usually by ourselves as a family or with one other family. The locals were funny, engaging and careful to keep their masks on. Best trip!!

Best vacay ever!
This house is magnificent. Looks exactly as shown in pictures. It was our 10th anniversary present to ourselves to go to Costa Rica. Fernando was marvelous. We had an issue with the cigarette lighter in our rental car not working due to needing a fuse. We needed this for the GPS that the rental car company failed to completely charge. Fernando gave us his personal phone charger to charge the GPS. I only wish he could speak more English as I would have loved to talk with him. This house is perfect if you want to stay in a low tourist area and walk right out onto what basically was your own private beach. We saw only 3 people on the beach the entire time. One week was not long enough. Make sure you watch the sunsets. We never felt unsafe at any time anywhere. From my husband's point of view, the kitchen faucet needs replaced. That was the only thing. Many thanks to you and your beautiful home and beautiful country.

Beautiful beach location
The beach was the best feature. The house is nice and Fernando and Bracsi, the onsite staff, were responsive and nice. The property manager was also very responsive. The only frustration we had was all the door locks, each with a different key, for each bedroom and the living space as well as the external house gate and a remote control for the property gate.

Glad you enjoyed your time here and that the only issue was the keys:). For the main house the only key you really need is the gate. The persons sleeping in each of the guests room are only carrying 2 keys each. Hopefully you'll visit again soon.

Truly a paradise....
If it was possible to give a 6 th star for exceptional quality , I would happily provide it. From the moment we arrived, Brenda made us feel at home and relaxed. Junquillal Beachfront Paradise
Beautiful house 75 feet from an amazing beach. Very quite and private. The rooftop patio is a great place to spend time at night looking at stars. House and grounds are clean and well maintained. Easy and quick communication with Brenda and Fernando the onsite caretaker was always available.

The recharge i needed...
My husband and I just got back from Casa Alegre. It was a birthday I will never forget, full of mornings on the roof, days on the beach and evenings at the tide pools. Our contact, Brenda was a gem and SUPER easy to communicate with on Whatsapp (all of CR uses it). The house is like fort knox with an entry gate and locking bars on every room. There is also Fernando and his partner that stay on the property. The only tiny tiny tiny suggestion would be to have a book at the house that could go over some basics like check out procedures and local attractions/contacts. Speaking of which, there is SOOOO much to see and do locally. It was our first time in CR and we were a little nervous about driving but it is one of THE easiest countries to drive with waze app. With your car you can discover all of the wonderful nearby restaurants and bars! Most notably was Mundo Milo Eco and Ventana Surfista. If you want a little adventure, check out Pura Adventura (20min drive), its a beautiful ranch where you can ATV, Horse Back ride and Zipline for a reasonable price. The guides were great. Using Waze, head up north 20min to Lola's, great beach front bar with good food and vibes. For shopping, gas and bigger grocery stores go 40min north to Tamarindo. All day tours like fishing can be set up with TPV, their office is under the Eco Restaurant just down the road. Things to bring: bug repellent and beach chairs, other than that... come prepared for Pura Vida!

The house and grounds were beautiful. We loved walking on the beach and collecting shells. The small grocery store and many restaurants were easily accessible with a car. We would definitely stay there again. Brenda was a terrific host.

A slice of paradise
My friend and I stayed for a week at this property and it did not dissapoint. It is located near the end of a dirt track, I would recommend a 4x4 although not entirely necessary. We we greeted by the house keepers Fernando and Bracsi who showed us around and gave us the keys. First impressions were as it was portrayed in the pictures. The place is kept very clean and tidy , there is pretty much everything you need there, a home from home. The wildlife was wonderful, eagles , humming birds, lizards crabs, butterflies etc. Sitting on the top deck looking out over the ocean with a large JD watching the sun go down is a memory I will treasure forever. In the morning sitting at the table having breakfast looking out over the garden and to the Pacific was a fabulous way to start the day. I could go on but I will summarise by saying that I hope to return one day in the not too distant future. Many thanks for letting us stay at your lovely home.

Most beautiful beach in all our travels! Fabulous home and location!
This home and location are beautiful! The property manager has absolutely amazing communication skills and the Fernando (lives on property and takes care of everything) is so nice and friendly. We rented this home with my husband and I staying in the upstairs room (with main house) and our grandson (14) and daughter each occupying their own rooms downstairs (poolside with each having private full baths). There is nothing between you and the ocean but the sidewalk and sand. This truly is the best beach we have ever seen! We walked forever in both directions (mostly barefoot). This is a black sand beach with extremely soft yet more firm sand (not so difficult to walk on). The beach was basically secluded during our entire week long stay. The owner does stress that children should not stay in the bedrooms downstairs without supervision. These rooms are perfect for couples or responsible teenagers/young adults. Every door does have screens, then lockable patio doors and lockable gates. The town of Junquillal is small yet wonderful. There is a small grocery store that has everything you might need and also a few restaurants (more details if you private message me). We only had one issue with the hot water, but as soon as I let Fernando know about it - it was fixed immediately! I truly can't say enough about how wonderful this property is! Be sure to fly into Liberia and not San Jose if it is possible.

Wonderful experience
Casa Alegre is beautiful - we are so glad we chose to VRBO instead of staying in a resort/hotel! We had a great time and felt completely comfortable and safe the whole time we were there. Brenda was quick with her correspondence and Fernando, the property manager, made us feel welcome and well cared for. Playa Junquillal is a quaint and inviting town - we bought our food at the local grocery store and made most of our meals at the house. We also ate at the Playa Junquillal EcoResort, which was fabulous. We would highly recommend Casa Alegre to anyone looking to truly experience the culture and lifestyle of Costa Rica!

Incredible home, incredible view
Casa Allegra is a gem! The house is terrific. The pool is refreshing. The outdoor shower is amazing after a walk on the beautiful beach. Most of the time my wife and I were the only people on the beach at all. The water runs over the fine sand and looks like glass for miles. The rooftop offers a bath experience like no other. Brenda is terrific!

What Can I say....Amazing
We stayed at Casa Alegra for my birthday week, and it was amazing! The home was absolutely perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beach. The grounds manager, Fernando, could not have been any better. When we needed something from the local store, he rode his bike into town for us, as we did not have transportation. The black sand beach that is right outside your doorstep is gorgeous. The pool was a nice amenity to have to cool off since April is hot in Junqullal. Brenda is an awesome home owner, and was very helpful in planning anything we needed. We had Chef Garrett come to the home one evening and cook us an amazing steak and lobster dinner to celebrate. I would definitely recommend this home for anyone who is looking to get away from everything and relax. We will be travelling back to Costa Rica and will be renting from Brenda again in a different city. Thank you so much for a fantastic birthday Brenda!!!!!

Amazing home, view, accommodations, service, vacation!
It’s really hard to put into words how much we’ve enjoyed this vacation. The home really nice and very comfortable for our family of 6. Each bedroom has a private bath. The beach is clean and basically feels like a private beach. You can enjoy the ocean and sand then wash off then cool off in the pool. We sat for hours in the kitchen or patio and enjoyed the panoramic view of the ocean and palm trees. There are lots of great restaurants to enjoy or sometimes we just cooked for outselves on the kitchen and relaxed with the waves. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again!

A beautiful place to vacation both inside and out.
We've vacationed at a number of VRBO homes in the past and most have met our expectations. Casa Alegre is one of those that exceeded our expectations. The home is beautiful both inside and out. Big windows in every room let in the light and ocean breezes. Very clean, modern and nicely decorated make it truly a home away from home. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well furnished and the bathrooms are state of the art. The only problem is were to relax: in the hot tub or in the pool or in the hammock or down by the beach or in the ocean or on the roof deck, pool deck or balcony. So many choices! The caretaker, Fernando, unobtrusively maintains the exterior daily and is there to help you with any needs.

super relaxing!
My husband and I spent the last part of our Costa Rican experience in this beautiful home. The design is funky, but functional; the views from every room are so beautiful. We slept really well on the king sized bed. Very nice bathrooms with a good shower. We woke early every morning, walked the pristine beach, swam, headed for the rooftop for a hot tub while it was shady up there. Explored the surrounding areas during the day but made sure to be on the roof for sunsets - spectacular!

Wow...just wow
If a private beach and total relaxation is not your thing, then don’t book this house :) it’s gorgeous! We stayed 5 nights and our biggest decision was do we swim in the ocean or the pool or sit in the hot tub. To get there and really anywhere near by you are travelling on a dirt road which was was not at all a problem and added to the charm of the experience. Restaurants nearby were all delicious but with an equipped kitchen, grill and bar upstairs you don’t really need to leave the house. Sunsets from the roof deck were unreal! Also, Fernando who keeps after the house - he did not really speak great English but was so nice and sweet there was no problem communicating. And when we accidentally set off the alarm he came running. We felt safe knowing how close by he was. This was a great stay and we highly recommend!
