Fantastic location and ocean views!
We stayed at this incredible location while visiting our son at UVIC. The ocean views are amazing and the house is spacious and well set up. The hosts are very responsive and helpful and we appreciated that. We hope to be back Erik and Ru!

Dream vacation
We fell in love with Cordova Bay. Beautiful, walks, memories...Convenient location. We loved the new Hara sushi restaurant and Italian market just walking distance up the street. Erik is the best host, and because of his recommendations we were able to see orca whales. We had the best time, hope to be back for more memories in the future, although these will last a lifetime.

We are very honest in our VBRO write up that our place is a circa 1945 beach house and that if what you are looking for is a new home and not a vintage one, you should not instantly book our property, but rather do your own due dilligence by inquirying to ensure that our gorgeous piece of paradise meets your expectations or view of my what paradise is. I am editing my response to this rating as I responded on my phone, which greyed out 4 stars and keep one dark; therefore, I thought that was a 1-star review. Family wedding vacation
Our stay at Beachfront Paradise was great it was close to all of the venues for our daughters wedding. The view was amazing. We spent our evenings sitting in the sunroom listening to the sounds of the ocean,very relaxing and peaceful!

We had a lovely stay at the Ocean Gypsy. Eric was great to communicate with and even let us check in early. The ocean view is amazing! It is an older building with some older Furnishings but it was clean and comfortable. I wish the fireplace and patio screen would have worked but other than that it was perfect for my son and I. Thank so much Eric for a wonderful stay at the Ocean Gypsy.

We stayed there for 8 weeks, and the views of the ocean were just as spectacular as promised. We say otter, sea lions, bald eagles, a great blue heron and many gulls. The house in winter is cold when the wind blows directly in, but otherwise it was perfect for us. Thank you for hosting us in this lovely spot.

Glad you loved you stay. Sorry to hear that you were cold at times. This winter was especially harsh for Victoria with temperatures dipping way below normal and storms being totally outside normal weather patterns for Vancouver Island. The unit has its own heat pump with heads in each bedroom and the living room, and all three heat pumps for the house are maintained on an annual basis, so they should have been working normally; however, we wish you had told us about the heat issues as we have extra electric space heaters left over from the time before the heat pumps were installed, so we could have brought a couple up to you. Excellent communication and customer service
We attempted to travel to this property over the Christmas break and due to airline mess ups terrible weather we never actually made our trip. Eric and Ru went above and beyond with communication and customer service, and insured that a terrible situation wasn't made to be even more of a headache due to the fact that we were not able to make it to our destination. So while I have not actually stayed here, I wanted to make a review in order to let any future guests know that Eric and Ru were truly a delight to communicate with, and I can't wait until we actually make it to the West Coast to stay here.

Amazing location
We had a lovely stay at this property. The location is perfect. Not only is it right on the beach, it is walking distance to a great restaurant overlooking the ocean. The beach house is clean and has everything a family of four would need. We had the pleasure of meeting Eric who is super friendly. Eric gave us paddle boarding lessons shortly after we arrived and we got to enjoy some paddle boarding several times during our stay. Eric and Ruth are always great at responding to questions before and during our stay. Would love to stay there again the next time we’re back to Victoria.

Unbelievable Cordova Bay
This property is owned by a wonderful host and situated on the perfect strand of beach on Cordoba Bay. It's a beach house that provides a 180 degree view of the water and puts you steps way from the sand! Fantastic walking / hiking area into the neighborhood and adjacent parks as well. Did some paddleboarding and swimming and the team was out there with us: otters, harbor seals, crabs, geese, ,hawks ... it was a great and very active stay for us!

We had a great time at Ocean Gypsy. The location, view and sun rise are spectacular. The property great. Communication with Eric and Ru was easy, friendly and very useful. Meeting Eric was great and special thanks for the loan of the paddle boards for a morning paddle in a lovely place. Best view in town.
Obviously, the number 1 feature of this listing is the 180 degree view on Cordova Bay, The house being directly on the Beach. And the 2 bedrooms appartement is very comfortable, with a lot more than one merely expect from a often sterile condo environment. For instance a very well stocked pantry with flour, sugar, spices, condiments and a bottle of wine, compliment of the charming host, Mr Erikson. Plenty of towels, sheets, blankets, soap, shampoo, Kleenex, kitchen paper etc All the things you have at home and you forget you need until you rent an appartement with, 1 roll of toilet paper and one 1 by 3 inch bar of soap! My 3 months there were perfect despite a very wintery temperature, understandable being January through April. Strong Wi-Fi, many channels TV, with Netflix, Prime,etc and occasionally wonderful sunshine that made the glass veranda a pleasure to sit, knit and watch the ocean. I could have happily lived there forever…

Incredible Location!
We needed a weekend home for an extended family visit - something close to our home. When we walked in the house at check-in we were overwhelmed with the incredible view! Everything was impeccably clean, the house was warm and cozy and the only regret was that we could not stay longer to enjoy this beautiful setting. The owner/property manager were incredibly attentive. They provided lots of information in advance and very clear instructions for check-in. Highly recommend this property!

This main floor of this waterfront house has spectacular views and is located right on the beach. Perfectly situated, just a few minutes drive to anywhere. The owners were very welcoming and responded quickly to any questions.

Best of both worlds location
We had a really nice stay at this property. The property manager was very clear and it was exactly as stated. It's the best of both worlds as you get the ocean front, relaxing environment, yet only 10 km from Victoria for the city experience. Perfect for our family. My only small suggestions were that maybe for the price we are paying more thought could be put into furniture out on the deck, instead of plastic table and chairs. And also, we had to run to the drug store for shampoo since there wasn't any in the bathroom. But overall- a great experience.

Fantastic location. Experienced and professional hosts. Eric and Ruth were the most responsive hosts we have had in our years of family travel around the world. The location can't be beat. Excellent trails and parks in short distance. Short distance to Vic without the hassles of being in the core. Everything is conveniently located and provided for. The beach is absolutely perfect for kids to play at with no waves and no crowds. Thank you for sharing your place with us, the kids have begged to come back again!

My daughter had a fabulous time enjoying all of the adventures this property had to offer! Morning coffee with a view of seals playing and dogs enjoying their morning walk, followed by local hiking and afternoon ocean enjoyment! Our hosts were super helpful and welcoming. Will be back!

We've rented through different online services several times. This was the first time we found the property to be exactly as described. The property was comfortable and the location simply cannot be beat. We spent hours on the water and in the water. The host was friendly and generous and responsive. Overpriced / Not Clean/ Disapointing
I wanted to enjoy a staycation on the island and was thrilled when I found this place. Seemed to be everything I was looking for. While the BEACH access is incredible, truly can't be beat as it is directly beside the property, the state of the unit is in need of repair. There were used tissues that had been left in multiple locations throughout the house, dishes that were dirty (caked on type stuff) gross buildup of who know what in the bathroom and the corner of the fridge. Gross. The lock in the bathroom door didn't work properly and everyone was struggling with it. The sliding door didn't lock properly, another struggle. I understand that house get old and this house is not new, but you can still do repairs, and when people are going to be paying $500/night, you really should. The worst part though was the communication with the landlord. He called me twice before I had even checked in to go over things with me, then another 2 times after I sent him a text informing him he may want to rethink his cleaner. THEN when I was trying to relax on the beach with my family, he CAME DOWN to the beach and started talking to me about how surprised he was about the state of the unit, while also revealing that it was he, himself, who had cleaned it. How did I miss this, he pondered? I don't know, but can you leave me alone so I can enjoy my one night at the beach !! I told him that since the unit was not cleaned properly I would be happy to have at least part of the cleaning fee refunded to which he replied, "Well, that's really for after you leave". Correct! As in, when the previous guests left, the cleaning fee should have gone to someone who actually spends a couple of hours ensuring things are clean. Why should I have to pay a STEEP cleaning fee when I am not being provided the courtesy of coming into a clean environment, ESPECIALLY during Covid. Overall, yes, the beach is gorgeous, but there are many other lodging options to choose from locally in this beautiful city. I vote for elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed here with another couple for quick getaway. We had such a nice relaxing time here! Hosts were lovely and helpful. Would also recommend the restaurant down the street for a wonderful waterfront dinner. Would stay here again if in the area!

Beachfront living
Three of us came for a wedding just a few doors down from this home. We didn’t spend a lot of daytime hours in the suite, but loved the time we did have to sit and appreciate the beautiful scenery of the beach and waterfront (and we did go sit down at the beach once too!). The suite has all the basic necessities and the foam mattresses on the queen beds were comfortable. With a group on the top floor we could hear footsteps on the wood floors overhead but this is to be expected in a home with real oak floors. Thank you, Eric, we really enjoyed our time here and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to relax by the water.

Cordova Bay Delight
My three sisters and I had a wonderful experience, at the Ocean Gypsy, in Cordova Bay. While we didn't get to meet Ru, from the very first email, both she and Eric were quick to respond to communications, and they did everything they could to make sure our visit would go smoothly for us. The suite had plenty of room for us, and the great view and immediate beach access filled each day with beauty and fun. The beds and living room furniture were comfortable, and we had space to relax, as well as fix meals and eat comfortably. Eric was so helpful, during check-in, and with our questions, along the way. Cordova Bay is in our hearts, and we hope to return to Ocean Gypsy, again! Thanks, Eric and Ru!

It was lovely staying at this property. Firstly, Eric and Ruth were super easy to deal with - friendly and made sure we had all the information we needed on arrival. Eric was super helpful and was quick to help out when we needed assistance. I have to say this - the pictures do not do this property justice. The views are outstanding with three different comfortable spaces from which to enjoy them. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable and with the extra air mattress that was available, we were all very comfortable. The kitchen is also very well equipped. As their listing states, it is a slightly older property, but it did not cause any discomfort or trouble to us at all. We would be very happy to stay there again. Loved this place. Quiet, clean. An easy 5km drive to Hamsterly Beach for race . One bed was very comfortable - memory foam, but the other wasn't as great. Sheets and bedding were in good shape. Would for sure recommend this place !!

The location of this property is fantastic. The views are incredible. The place was spotless.
This place was in such a great location. Beautiful views from the beach side. It was spotless. The decorating could use some work for the price (cheap bedding and fake flowers everywhere) but the location is amazing right on the beach with beach chairs and umbrellas set up for our use. Overall a very nice place.

Great location and a unique property
We were well looked after by Erik who lives in the top floor of the house - our flat was the middle floor with beautiful views across the bay. Quirky fun flat that is circa 1946 and Vin a good location - great restaurant just 3 mins walk away - went to Victoria by bus - very enjoyable — Butchart Gardens - walks along the beach - nearest shopping centre a short drive away and top quality shopping - there is a small patio with table chairs and shade - enough to have eat around - beach infront if you - totally enjoyed ourselves.
