Hillside sanctuary with pool & sunset sea views.

We built this house with everything that our family and friends could imagine wanting and we are excited to share it with you. We chose to call it Triangles/Triángulos because of the interesting angles that catch your eye as you move throughout the home.

You’ll descend a flight of stairs from the large parking area and emerge into your own private world. Through the front door you’ll find the soaring triple-height vaulted ceilings of the main living area complete with overstuffed couches, a TV, dining for eight, and a polished concrete bar overlooking a kitchen stocked with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal or a well-earned cocktail (and a dishwasher to aid the clean up).

For an even better view through the floor-to-ceiling windows, climb to the mezzanine, stocked with books, board games, and a second TV, plus two outdoor viewing decks. A mezzanine bedroom and a further bedroom below it each have thick concrete walls, blackout shades, king beds, and high-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets for a perfect night's sleep. The bathroom features a rain shower and hand shower (perfect for rinsing sand from your toes) and plenty of fluffy towels. There’s a washer/dryer too and an outdoor drying rack for wet swimsuits.

Through the double doors from the living area, you'll find the sweeping stone terrace and swimming pool, with edges that disappear into the view. We know you’ll spend most of your time in the open air so we made the outside even bigger than the inside. There are loungers and plenty of shade for siestas on dry land but we also have a sun shelf which lets you recline in the cool water and read a book in the pool when you tire of swimming in the deep. As well as the main terrace - which features an outdoor shower - there is a covered bar area with a gas barbecue and two person turret (aka guarita) that’s perfect for catching the breezes and views whether you're channeling your inner Rapunzel or using it as a crow's nest to watch the wild horses grazing and the egrets glide across the canopy.

Connected to the main house via an open air atrium is a “casita” also for your private use. It has its own open-plan living and dining space with 30 feet of windows framing the panoramic view, plus a third TV. There is also a second full kitchen with everything you will find in the first including a dishwasher. Off the living room you'll find another king bedroom, a fourth bedroom with a single-over-queen bunk bed, and a further bathroom with a rain shower.

Triangles/Triángulos is your island of paradise on the paradise island of Vieques.

Please note that no gatherings or loud noise is permitted. We have a noise sensor and will ask you to leave if you disturb others.

Things we didn’t mention!

> Major mobile networks work at the house and we have reliable internet with a local service team.
> Wild horses graze beneath the house. We provide food so you can treat them from our side of the wall but note that they are wild and therefore can be dangerous.
> You’ll also hear the chirp of the coqui frogs - the national sound of Puerto Rico - as we planted to their favorite habitat, Bromeliads, to keep them happy.
> As we write there are no roosters in the neighborhood. Believe us this is a HUGE benefit in Puerto Rico (and we have concrete bedroom walls just in case!)
> The house lights outside are red, as they are on much of the island, to avoid confusing breeding turtles (you'll notice the streetlights nearby are red too).
> The house is built of solid concrete to withstand inclement weather. The weather on Vieques is remarkably consistent throughout the year and hurricanes are thankfully rare.
> As well as books and board games we have bean bag toss, giant jenga, and a hook and ring game.
> We have hooks to hang a hammock and enjoy the view to the side of the house (and a hammock!).
> The Caribbean sky is as teaming with stars and you can take a closer look through our telescope. There is minimal light pollution in this part of the island.
> We provide beach towels, an umbrella, scuba masks, beach chairs and cooler for your island adventures.
> If there is one thing that can destroy paradise it is sand in the house. Solved! We have a hose for getting the sand off in the drive way.
> Cameras are limited to the entry and driveway giving you complete privacy throughout the house and grounds.
> There is AC throughout and we have plenty of fans which are often enough to cool you down.
> We have bluetooth speakers (loud music is not allowed) and the main TV has a karaoke mode.
> Kitchens includes: coffee maker, espresso maker, coffee grinder, toaster, kettle, cocktail shaker, swimming pool safe glassware, microwave, blender, electric range, dishwasher, and fridge with ice maker and filtered water dispenser.
> We are happy to offer early check in / check out if the schedule allows. Just ask a week before or so before your arrival.
> Each bedroom has clothes storage, a luggage rack, mosquito net / zapper if needed, charging station, fan, and AC. We also have a travel hair dryer / iron.
> The house is private but not isolated with other houses nearby. It is located in a central spot so both the north and south of the island are a quick drive…
>> 5 mins to Isabela II (bars, restaurants, ice cream, coffee, supermarkets and the ferry).
>> 10 mins to Sun Bay, 15 mins to Black Sand Beach and also to Caracas Beach and a further 10 mins to Playa La Plata our favorite on the island.
>> 15 mins to Esperanza (Bars, restaurants, ice cream)
>> 15 mins to Bio Bay — the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world — one of the natural wonders of the universe.
>> 10 mins to Tin Box, Mango Taphouse and other great restaurants.
>> 15 mins to the airport.
> After booking, we’ll share our tips and tricks on travel to the island and details of all our favorite spots. If you can pull yourself away from the view/pool there are options for beach hopping, yoga, swimming with turtles, snorkeling, kayak fishing, horse riding, hiking (old sugar factory, cold war bunkers), visiting the rum distillery and more.
