Our family absolutely loved this quiet property on beautiful Blodgett Lake. Troy was an outstanding host and responded rapidly to any questions we had during the booking process and seemlessly accommodated our request for a change in our reservation date. Troy warmly welcomed us when we arrived and kept in touch during our stay. As far as the property, it is located minutes from a grocery store that had everything we needed. The house provided a centrally-located base for exploring attractions such as Denali, Seward, Anchorage, and the glaciers to the east and south. The ample parking right in front of the house was greatly appreciated. Inside, the upgraded kitchen was wonderful, and we enjoyed cooking and grilling for several meals during our stay. The living room and bedrooms were quite comfortable for the four of us, and having the washer/dryer was certainly a plus, especially with two teenagers. There were a number of very informative and helpful pamphlets and brochures on area attractions in the living room. The kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat provided with the house were a big hit with our kids, and they explored the entire lake several times over during our stay. Troy also offered fishing tackle, and we ended up catching rainbow trout during our stay. The large lakefront deck allowed us to watch bald eagles and ospreys hunt each day, and we woke to the wonderful sounds of loon calls each morning. From the deck we even watched and photographed a pair of moose frolicking in the lake on a hot Alaska summer day! Troy was extremely knowledgeable about the area and provided many suggestions for places to see since we were first-time visitors to Alaska. We took his suggestion to drive up Hatcher Pass and were not disappointed at the incredible natural beauty and mining history of the area (so close to Wasilla!). Although we were sad to leave after six days, we are so grateful for Troy's hospitality and have beautiful memories of our vacation. We certainly hope to return to this house again someday.
