'Our family of eight, plus a pet dog loved being in this home. The fenced in back yard was great for the pup and we enjoyed an evening outside around the patio table chatting, laughing, and catching up. The home was spacious indoors so we didn't feel like we were crowded. Such a cool older home. The home was clean and well stocked. The owner was very good with corresponding. The location was great as we walked to a couple local restaurants and was convenient for our trips to the State Fair...

'The Jackson River Estate was the perfect getaway for our 2025 Family Reunion. The estate is very spacious and provides magnificent views. There is river access but the water is cold. The pool and slide were a big hit! Cole’s Point (beach), the humpback bridge and waterfall were super close and great excursions. This location is great for families that like to be outdoors…hiking, fishing, kayaking…Check-in/out was super easy. Although we heard there might have been a bear, there was no sighting....

'We booked for a sibling birthday retreat- traveling from Texas, NC and Va. The house was quaint, comfortable ( chairs on porch not so much- would have liked rocking chairs as advertised as the weather was perfect for spending time there). 'We were visiting Marlinton, WV to bicycle ride the Greenbriar Trail. This house was perfect as you could ride to the trail within a few minutes. The house is also close to restaurants and a bike shop. The bed was very comfortable. The bed and bathroom linens were excellent. There is a cute kitchen with all the equipment you would need for a meal. Also chilled mugs for your beer. Overall we had a great stay and will be recommending to our friends. '

'The house was lovely and so comfortable. We loved the charm of the property and the updated kitchen. The location was great for access to the Homestead and the local restaurants. It was nice that the bathrooms were not inside any bedrooms so accessible to all. I would definitely stay at the Manse again if I go back.'

'House is charming but old. Five star outstanding features include sleeping porches, a lovely yard and surroundings, and, of course, the magical warm mineral "dipping" creek in the back yard, which are alone worth the stay. I would strongly recommend that owners find a way to install a full sized refrigerator near the kitchen, as the dormitory sized one on the floor, and the full sized one in the basement (which you have to go outside to reach) is quite inconvenient. There are a lot of stairs....

'What a beautiful property. The area was quiet, the cabin was impeccably clean, and it was so fun to be around all the farm animals. The barn cats were lovely and kept us company the evening we had a fire. Should we be passing through the area, we will most definitely be staying again!'
