The hotel is in an idyllic setting and well presented. Sadly, the spa facilities are only available to guests who purchase a treatment. There was some confusion with communication: I received an email telling me the hotel was closed after I had booked and indeed there was a sign at the entrance of the hotel indicating it was closed, when it was not. The dinner menu was not the most appealing, although the food served was good. Breakfast did not quite meet expectations. Overall, good and I had a pleasant stay.

Nice setting however the rooms/doors aren’t soundproof at all so you can hear every conversation and door slamming. Rooms are opposite the wedding event venue so there is loud music until 12. The hotel also didn’t have any earplugs to offer. Additionally we stayed for 2 nights and the hotel unfortunately took payment in a bizarre way - they took both a £465 pre authorisation when we arrived and an additional £365 on the day we checked out, meaning my credit card had a pending balance of £830 despite only a 2 night stay. This seems illogical and they should have used the pre auth charge as payment instead.

Fantastic location , room was very good but the food at the hotel seemed very expensive and then the food at the sister pub the Swan was well below par ! how it was described in the Menu was nothing like in reality. One other point and something people should be aware even if your a resident you cannot use the Spa facilities unless you book a treatment (which for me was not required ) so I was not then allowed to simply have a swim and sauna.

Sadly disappointing…
Disappointing stay. The only positive was lady on reception in the afternoon and the lady serving in The Old Swan - both were very polite and ensured we had everything we needed. Other than that, this was our first visit since the change in ownership and we have to say, it was much better before. The whole place - Swan and Minster Mill has lost its spark and charm it had. The focus now seems to be on corporate and high end drinking and dining rather than comfort country living. It is with a heavy heart that we will not returning. This place held a special place in our hearts (we were married there in 2016) but it is just not the same. The new owners have changed something that do not need to be changed unfortunately.

Location is great but we don’t feel this was value for money. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, they got our breakfast order wrong and we were rushed to finish when the restaurant wasn’t busy. Service needs improving - rather poor for the price tag.

Perfect throughout
This was a special trip for us, my 60th birthday and our 30th wedding anniversary. The hotel staff were superb from start to finish, with cards for both events, messages at dinner, upgraded room, and just lovely acknowledgment throughout that this was our special trip. Special thanks to Francis for organising everything. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, well equipped and immaculately maintained. The village is picture perfect and the walk to the church and ruined Manor House by the banks of the River Windrush was glorious. We used the hotel as a base to visit Blenheim Palace and has a wonderful time. We cannot thank everyone enough.

My three daughters and I had a wonderful two day stay. The staff were most welcoming, friendly and very attentive to our needs. The spa treatments were wonderful and we left feeling totally relaxed

Beautiful area and lovely hotel by the river, very disappointing that only over 16’s are allowed to use the pool, and if you do want to use the pool it is at an extra cost of £25 per person. Breakfast not included in our £400 a night room?? But for an extra £25 per person you can have a full English which consists of 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 piece of bacon, tomato, black pudding and mushrooms. We had a junior suite with a double bed & a sofa bed for our 10 year old, but the room was only set out for 2 people, only 2 towels, 2 dressing gowns, 2 glasses etc… Evening meal was excellent !! Staff were good. We also found discarded bottle tops and other litter under the dressing table….. If we go back …. It would be for an evening meal not a stay over. Mr. Lawrence

I stayed at christmas. Eating arrangements confusing . The hotel informed me christmas meal was cancelled it was too late to book another . So gave me an awful meal in dining area without christmas decorations. Afterwards ordered room service the food was awful.

Staff pleasant but room a bit tatty disappointing.
Checking in was easy, and the grounds are very good, unfortunately the room was not as expected, even though there was tea and coffee available in the room there was no milk and had to ask for this, all the bottled water was sparkling and no still, again had to ask, the mixer tap in the bathroom was loose and would spin around, there were cracked tiles all up the wall in the shower and when using the shower the water kept going hot and cold, the room was very basic with no luxury whatsoever, I’ve stayed in nicer travelodge’s, at breakfast we had a pot of tea and and as I poured a cup of tea a pea came out of the pot along with some black bits. On checking out even though we paid in advance, they charged us for the room again and we had drinks on our bill that we never had, they did eventually sort it out after checking with bar and their reservation department but took a while. It was a shame as this was our anniversary and spoilt it.

The Minster Mill is a lovely hotel in a stunning Cotswolds village, with beautiful walks on your doorstep. The food is 5*, we had a delicious evening meal (although it’s gourmet-style dining so expect high prices and tiny portions!), and the breakfast was truly sensational – a great selection of options, would highly recommend the French Toast! Our overall review is that we didn’t feel it was value for money – our Classic Room, while nice, was in a corridor of about 20 other identical rooms, and despite paying £250 per night, didn’t have a bath. The rooms are nicely appointed but perhaps a little soulless. The spa is very small but perfectly formed & a nice spot to spend an hour or so unwinding. I thought it was cheeky to charge guests a £25 fee to use the spa, considering its size and the aforementioned price of the rooms (this fee is waved if you book a treatment, but still...). It’s great to have the option of a more casual place to eat/drink literally just over the road at The Old Swan (the Minster Mill’s sister property), although unfortunately we had a very bad dining experience there, which I’ll write about in a separate review! Some locals told us that the village’s other pubs, The White Hart & The Horse & Radish, a short walk away, are much better! In summary, the Minster Mill is very nice, but don’t expect a boutique hotel experience, despite its boutique hotel prices. That said, the food was faultless & staff were friendly.

Sophia at the reception was very helpful! She did everything she can to make sure we enjoy our stay! Very nice property for relaxing. The town is about 10-15 min drive away with many dining options. On site dinning is a bit overpriced £25 pp for breakfast!! But overall a very nice stay!

Was a lovely cotswolds set up however very disappointing to have to pay £25 on top of the cost of the room to use the spa for 1 1/2 hrs. (Covid restrictions on the length of time). Use of the Spa should be included in the room rate.

The best part of the property were the grounds and the local walks. Breakfast on the first morning was great, but it wasn't as good on the second. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which was great for our doggy but the room was really tired, the toilet didn't flush properly and the bath didn't drain. Disappointing for the cost to stay in this hotel.

Disappointing
Lovely place but so disappointing. We booked the week before for a Sunday night hoping to use the facilities on the Sunday and Monday. Unfortunately the spa was fully booked on the Sunday and closed on the Monday (was emailed about being closed on Monday after booking) so we couldn't use anything. They also said they were fully booked for dinner despite the restaurant being very quiet. We were told it was due to a lack of staff, but this meant we were not allowed in the restaurant and had to sit in the bar upstairs being the only 2 people in there all night when the restaurant below was half empty. Strange stay as it's a lovely place but just seemed empty and lacked any atmosphere. If booking, would advise to make sure you could get into the restaurant / spa prior to booking rooms. We did try to change our date so we could use all facilities and was told no. A lot of money though if you are unable to use any of the facilities.

Definitely not four star, a hotel for those under fifty as it is compulsory to carry your own luggage up steep flights of steps on narrow staircases . Food was very good ,staff very friendly , but hygiene and the standard of housekeeping in our bedroom left much to be desired.

Definitely worth a stay
Fairly basic living space in the cottage, bedrooms nice but no real kitchen. We liked the fact it was a 3 bed and had a bathroom and unusually was available for just one night. We ate at the Swan which is a pies only menu but delicious and gourmet! The staff in the pub were so so nice!

Gorgeous hotel in a wonderful setting, we had a gorgeous room with patio, unfortunately the weather didnt allow us to use the patio. The bed was a small double and the mattress was in need of an upgrade, there was a dip in the middle, so not the most comfortable sleep. We wanted to use the pool but that was closed, so I don't feel we had maximum use of our stay/

Another great stay at the hotel. Food and drinks are excellent as is the service, although I would say the bottles of beer are a little over priced. We stayed in a room on the river, it’s was great in the evening sitting next to the fire pit. The pub over the road that is part of the hotel is also great, the landlord is very friendly and informative. Plenty of parking, easy check in, great few days in the Cotswolds.

Staff were really friendly. Manager on duty was amazing he was extremely helpful and made us feel extremely welcome. The room was beautiful and the food at the old Swann especially the baked Camembert with sourdough bread was a delight ... overall the best short break I’ve had in a very long time
