Overall a great experience but Air conditioner was not working my entire stay. I originally purchased a superior room but was offered a single without compensation or adjustment for what I paid. Was ultimately given the room I paid for yet without functioning air conditioning. This made my stay very comfortable especially considering the high heat and humidity in the area.

We wanted to stay in Stonetown in an authentic hotel. Dating from the 1880s we found our place. It was just down a very narrow street from the Freddy Mercury House. It helped to have their staff pick us up from the airport. The rooftop restaurant had a great view of the ocean and town. We ate the special dinner. It was expensive but with so many authentic courses and flavors it was well worth. This is not a glamorous place, but very real. The AC worked well and the room was comfortable.

Property was very nostalgic and romantic perfectly positioned to tour Stone Town. Best part was Manal at the front desk. She was so friendly and helped us with so many things during our stay. The hotel should pay her more money cause she is worth her wait in gold!

Everything was great, except the noise coming from other rooms. I was in the Out of Africa room and could hear loud footsteps and conversations of the people above me at 4am. I think the walls must be very thin. Otherwise, very nice place.

Another great “go to” property in Stone Town”! Rooms were comfortable with it’s own and unique Art/Decor. Perched in heart of Stone Town for those who prefer “proximity” to all that Stone Town has to offer and want be close to the “heartbeat” of Stone Town.

The accommodation is located right in the center of Stone Town in narrow streets. It definitely has an atmosphere. Very helpful worker at the reception and the view at breakfast.

Interessant hotell
Et artig lite hotell i sentrum av Stone Town. Fikk et rom med åpen do og dusjløsning så man bør ikke være altfor sjenert om man skal bo her. Relativt slitent men veldig sjarmerende rom og hotell. Vennlige folk i resepsjonen. Frokosten var ikke mye å snakke om, noen få brødskiver samt minimalt med pålegg. Vi hadde også den hardeste sengen jeg har sovet i på flere år. Ikke et sted for langtidsopphold men absolutt en festlig opplevelse.

Bonne situation mais problèmes de propreté
L'hôtel est un ancien bâtiment rénové et très bien situé. Le petit déjeuner se passe sur le toit, avec une belle vue sur la vielle ville. En revanche la propreté laisse à désirer (poussière, toiles d'araignées, objets oubliés sur les meubles). Nous avions aussi un trou dans la moustiquaire. La connexion wifi était tres faible, il fallait aller dans les parties communes pour avoir du réseau. Au global, prestation décevante pour cette gamme de prix.

This is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Stone Town. The hotel is full of antiques and quirky details. Easy walk to the waterfront, many shops, the night market. The rooftop breakfast is lovely. Room was comfortable, with good AC and comfortable bed. Spotty wi-fi.

Amazing stay in the heart of Stonetown
We had an amazing stay at the Jafferji house. The service was attentive and they gave us some advice for restaurants and to buy our ferry tickets. Location just around the fort is excellent (we were really close to everything we wanted to see), and the building is beautiful ! If I go again in Zanzibar one day, I would definitely choose to stay there. Asante sana !

A very unique hotel! There are lots of antiques and interesting items throughout the hotel. The rooftop view at breakfast was very nice. We stayed in the Mercury Suite which was nice except that there was no phone and reception was a bit of a walk (no elevator). Also the only mirrors were in the upstairs loft (with no outlets nearby). The water in the shower never got very warm no matter how long we let it run, but it was fine in the sinks. Very centrally located hotel and close to a taxi stand.

chambre assez propre dans l 'ensemble, nous étions 3 avec notre fils de 16 ans, il y avait un lit supplémentaire pour lui, mais trop petit et pas très confortable. La climatisation est trop bruyante donc compliqué la nuit. La salle de bain et les toilettes sont ouverts dans la chambre donc côté intimité c est même pas la peine d en parler et pour finir le négatif, nous avions demandé des serviettes pour notre fils, nous les attendons toujours!!!! le + de cet hôtel est la vue sur le roof top et le petit déjeuner;

Jafferji House sits on a quiet back street surrounded by small shops on the entry side and backs up to the Old Fort. You are right in the middle of all of the action, yet secluded from the hustle and bustle. I stayed in the Stanely Suite and it was perfect for me as a solo traveler--it could work for a cozy couple as well. The decor is authentic Swahili mix and was the reason I chose the hotel, I was not disappointed! There are several common areas to sit, relax, read and there is no shortage of books to borrow! The rooftop restaurant was my favorite spot in Stone Town as from there you have a birds-eye view of the Old Fort, Forodhani Park, the House of Wonders and the Zanzibar Channel Islands. The food is fresh, made to order and affordable--the best I had on my trip! The staff is welcoming, helpful and I enjoyed chatting with them. I stayed 4 nights and would have stayed longer but they were booked. Keep in mind this is an old family home and has that "lived-in" feel. I absolutely loved it!

Es ist sehr typisch afrikanisch eingerichtet, jedes Zimmer hat seinen eigenen Charme dadurch. Die Lage ist sehr gut, wenn man zu Fuß unterwegs ist (in jedem Fall empfehlenswert). Durch die offene Architektur mit einem Rooftop-Restaurant gibt es gelegentlich auch Gäste, welche nicht zum Hotel gehören. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und das Frühstück war eine Auswahl a la carte.

Unique decor. Manager Mwana was extremely nice and attentive. Lady at check was not very friendly. Man at door and man at check in counter were very welcoming. Unfortunately, our room smelled of sewer the entire visit. We woke up to a dead rat that my husband almost stepped on while he was taking photos. Room only had 25% left toilet paper roll left, no extras toilet paper provided in room. Would not ever stay there again.

2泊連続ではあるが別々にExpedia経由で申し込んだ。1泊目は問題なく泊まれたが2泊目は満室なので他のホテルに移れと言われた。 そのホテルも2点3点した。 結局は、Forodhani park hotelに泊まることになったが、部屋も朝食も格下な雰囲気がした。

部屋の造りは独特なので、人によって好き嫌いがあるかもしれません。 ですが掃除は行き届いていますし、部屋の広さと屋外にバスタブがあるのには驚きました。 シャンプー、シャワージェル、タオル類、バスローブも完備されています。 ロケーションも海に近く、私にはとても便利な場所でした。 スタッフの態度もフレンドリーでとても良かったし、レストランも美味しかったです。 ただ残念なのはレセプションのスタッフの対応が貧弱で、ホテルとしてのレベルでは無かったです。 さらにチェックアウトの際には、レセプションに人がおらず10分ほど探し回らなければなりませんでした。 そして支払いもドルで払おうとすると釣り銭が用意されておらず、クレジットカードは機械が使えず、タンザニアシリングの現金しか使えないという驚くべき不便さ。 手持ちのシリングを全て出して支払いは出来ましたが、おかげで空港へのタクシーの支払いにも事欠く始末でした。 次回は違うホテルを利用しようと思います。

We had one night at here staying in the Kama Sutra we were able to eventbrite open the safe before the manager arrived. Despite these small things we would stay here again. room. It’s quite the unique room to say the least. The staff was excellent and the food at the rooftop restaurant was delicious. The bed was a bit firm and the pillows a little too big and firm for our liking but overall we thought our room was great. We had one hiccup when our safe wouldn’t open early in the morning. The staff was quick to contact the manager who was off site. Fortunately

Negatief: Personeel en service, comfort kamer
I thought I did my research on this one. My family was underwhelmed with this hotel. The website looks lovely, but the service was poor and there does not appear to be any management. We had issues with water for the shower throughout the three day stay in the Mercury Room Suite. Requests for support were often met with indifference. Never any apology. I could go on, but you can read my longer review on Tripadvisor.

Hôtel très bien situé dans Stone Town. Le lieu est magnifique, vraiment ! Les chambres sont propres et grandes, la déco fait très authentique mais « luxueuse ». On a réservé un taxi via l’hôtel la veille (pour 6h du matin) ; chose faite, le chauffeur était présent à 5h55. Je recommande sans hésiter. Seul petit bémol : le petit déjeuner à emporter. Ayant notre avion à 8h nous sommes parti à 6h de l’hôtel. Nous avions demandé le petit dej à emporter. On a eu que 3 mini « viennoiseries ». Bref mise à part ça, c’était nickel
