'The heating in our room made a ton of noise all through the night, there were sharp nails sticking out the carpet and the stairs, even though you are forced to take your shoes off inside the whole facility. There also was no toilet paper on multiple occasions, which is far from fun.'

'Friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms and rooms were cleaned daily. Overall good experience. '

'The property didn't even open the door after confirming arrival time earlier in the day. Seems racially motivated...'

'Management (Joshua) is away most of the time and does not supervise much. My last days there he was ill and did not come in at all. On a personal level Joshua is a good guy but the overall situation is a bit chaotic. Most guests are experienced travellers so they organize themselves and help newcomers finding an empty bed, even lending out air mattresses. The lack of supervision makes for untidyness in kitchen, bathrooms and dorms. When I left the place ran out of toilet paper, clean bedsheets...

'Initially my experience was not good but after a day, manager Shato helped us a lot and other guests. He ensured to have cleaning and listened to our suggestions of improving. I must appreciate his approach. With those suggestions, if implemented properly, I truly believe that DC Hostel will improve. Best of Luck DC International Hostel 2.'

'A LOT of work to be done at this Hostel. While the staff was friendly and helpful, the absence of amenities like a stove are key to have a successful hostel. There's a code to enter the property and all the rooms do not have a key or access code. There were several instances where other guests would enter my room by mistake. The upstairs rooms, there was only one bathroom and sometimes I would have to wait for half an hour to use the restroom. As a regular hostel attendee, I've never seen...

Hotel in a nice location with some issues

"A nice hotel in a good neighborhood with small rooms. The location of the hotel is good and the breakfast and coffee is good. The lounge downstairs is nice. There is an iron lounge in the top floor for business purposes. The overall cleanness was a little bit disappointment. I found hairs on multiple locations in my room. Also the alarm went off at the middle of the night, which was the co2/smoke alarm. The staff “investigated” the alarm after 3 reminders the next day with the result nothing is wrong, because that was what the manager said. I am sorry but if an alarm as such goes of it has to do something with safety and not an opinion. No investigation was done and no apologies were made. "

"This was absolutely amazing! I am a solo traveler and was in D.C for 7 days, 5 of which I had spent in a hostel nearby. I didn’t my best in that hostel, so I left and decided to book my last night in DC at the Generator in a shared dorm room (they have shared, and private rooms). Right from the moment I entered the lobby, it was great. The atmosphere was great, the personnel (and guests) were so nice, and I felt immediately at home. I solo travel a lot but did not have th experience I had hoped for at my first hostel, and the Generator really turned my trip around for the better! Forever grateful. Keep it up!"

"Prima locatie van het hotel. Het hotel oogt erg netjes. De kamer is op het eerste oog prima. De bedden zijn heerlijk. Toch een paar kleine dingen die niet goed gingen. Toilet zat verstopt bij eerste gebruik(wel gelijk opgelost). We hadden geen douchegel in de kamer (maar 2x shampoo in de houder, slordig). Douchekop is echt aan vervanging toe. Rolgordijnen werken niet (koordjes geknapt). Lampenkap met gaten erin. Maar gezien de locatie zouden we zeker opnieuw boeken. "
