'We had a great time in this house. Very clean and well stocked with the essentials needed for a short weekend getaway. The property manager, Elaine, gave us plenty of area information to get acquainted with what’s around in the neighborhood. It was our first time using VRBO and everything ran smoothly. We will definitely be back soon. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a short distance away from Starved Rock.'

'Add stated a pool and then when you booked it you had to pay another HOA fee of 100.00 before we got there, they changed it to 300.00 but we already had a contract. Can't use the beach, playground or pool without paying the fee. The booking should list that. Minimal pool hours too The house was very nice. Lots of room. We will probably look elsewhere next year due to the pool drama.'

'We came here to stay for the weekend for hiking and the starved rock 1/2 marathon. The house is very clean and charming. The beds are very comfortable. Elaine is a wonderful host; great communication and ideas for places to go in the area. Nice back outdoor space.'

'A great all-around experience. Lot's of room to relax, a nice big kitchen with a breakfast bar, and all a stone's throw from Starved Rock. I loved the balcony off the bedroom and the jacuzzi. The Grand Bear lodge has a great bar as well. Great restaurant options between Utica, Peru and Ottawa, or venture over to the Starved Rock state park lodge restaurant.'

'I stayed at the property with girlfriends and our dogs for a girls weekend. The property was clean and had everything that we needed for the weekend (and more). We loved the air hockey and ping pong in the basement. The host was very nice and was easy to get ahold of. I would definitely stay here again.'

'We enjoyed the peacefulness and seclusion of the house out in the country. It was a short drive over to Starved Rock and we even made a drive into a grocery store in LaSalle which was about 20 min away. We had a hard time getting the lock to open when getting in and with the heat but the owner was very quick to respond and resolve issues. He was kind and was understanding to our needs. Know that if you’re bringing children there’s only one bedroom with a door; the other is just partitioned off...

'Based on the pictures you would think this was a simple but very nice home. However, once we checked in, just from the outside you could tell it has not been kept up. The deck is worn and weeds and trees are growing along side it. Inside, there were numerous things wrong, including a strong smell of cat pee that was in the hallway and got stronger in the bedroom. I let the owner know and she said she would have the cleaning crew check it out. However, it was clear that the countertops had not...

Jim's property and space is absolutely amazing, huge deck area by the pond with feeding the fish was awesome including ample space in the garage to play washers & games when it got too cold out.
