Wonderful experience
Apart from having my purse stolen on the way to the hotel, our whole experience in Athens was wonderful. The hotel, the Greek people and the city are amazing. Parts of the City are very run down, but other areas are extremely interesting . Until you see the city and the sights you just cannot appreciate the history and age of Athens. I cannot wait to go back to Greece again

Just the job
The Classical Athens Imperial is in the middle of a typical Athens business district and neighborhood. By typical I mean concrete buildings and busy streets.The rooms were clean and modern with very well appointed bathrooms. A good shower is important to me and the Classical Athens met my requirements.The hotel’s location is probably it’s strongest asset being next to the metro stop and minutes from all major sights. I would definitely use the hotel again. The staff was polite and helpful if not always very knowledgeable.If you are in Athens to take in the temples,monuments and museums then this is the hotel for you. Modern architecture is not a strong point in Athens so don’t expect any neighborhood in Athens to look overly inviting except the Plaka area.

One of the nicer hotels we’ve stayed in in Europe!
Based on the room itself i don’t think that this hotel would be considered 5 stars in the States, probably a 3 or 4 star. i would say it’s on the same level as a really nice Best Western or La Quinta which can sometimes be surprisingly nice. However i would stay here again just for the GREAT service they offered and the vicinity of the metro station (right across the street). The staff was very friendly! Immediately upon arriving they carried our suitcases up to our room and gave us a map and tons of info on the city. Our last few days there they helped us book a day trip and a cruise and were super helpful and very polite and they all spoke great English. The metro station is located across the street, it’s only a few stop to the Acropolis and a few stops to the main square in downtown. Plus it’s very affordable, 3 euro for one person for 24 hours or 1 euro for 1.5 hours! When you arrive don’t be scared about the location, it looks a little ghetto but honestly a lot of Athens looks at least a little ghetto. We found it to be a city we felt safe in, definitely more so than other places we’ve been to. We loved Athens and really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to hopefully go back one day!
