Very atmospheric place bang in the middle of the town great access on foot to all amenities. A 10 minute stroll to the Castle and the excellent car park. Breakfast was first class value. 'I find stairs very difficult and we were on the third floor. NOT much fun. as most of the other visitors were as old is not older than me I guess i was not the only one. They were unable to offer a change of room as they said they were full. However we never saw another soul on the corridor we were in and linen outside the door of two rooms remained there for the whole of our stay, we don't think we had any neighbours! 'Look, don't get me wrong, it's not terrible by any means. It's just that for a hotel that's trying to play at this level, it struggles with some of the basics. If you're having a short stay there's no housekeeping by default, (which they don't tell you when you arrive) but there's only a small (non-heated) towel rail, so you're going to have soggy towels on day 2. 'Very friendly and welcoming staff. The breakfast and dinner were both very good. The family room was spacious and clean with a large bathroom. The wifi was good and there is lots of parking space. We heard a continuous hum in our room, but it wasn’t a big deal because it quite well before bedtime. We didn’t ask about it but assumed that it was probably a ventilation fan from the kitchen.
