Not quite what we expected
We like experiences and felt staying in a houseboat on a canal in Amsterdam would be awesome. The communication was amazing and we appreciated how kind and accommodating the owner and the agent were. The strange part: was it was walking into a stranger's home while they left for the week. It was not the cleanest and it was strange having someone's "stuff" there. Location was fair - 20-30 minutes walk to most sites. There is a grocery store close by. Although a cool concept we would not stay here again.

Really great place near the heart of the city
This was a great location. It was near the heart of Amsterdam, but without all the noise and excessive people. Staying in a boat was a nice experience. We will likely do it again.

Quiet retreat in the heart of the city!
The houseboat was absolutely fantastic Getting in early, our host Hedy was amazing and allowed us to drop-off our bags and change into some fresh clothes and texted us a couple hours later when the place was ready. She gave us a tour of the place and even left us a yummy bottle of cava to enjoy! We booked a houseboat with the expectation that things might be a bit cramped, but were pleasantly surprised to find the boat to be much more spacious than we anticipated. The kitchen was beautiful. The bathroom was spacious with a simple, yet great shower(tall showerhead, good pressure, plenty of space). The bedroom was comfy and dark, perfect for sleeping in. And the living room was large with comfortable couches and a dining table. The best part was the patio space, off the backend of the boat. Many days, we would return to the boat in the afternoon to relax and recharge, sitting out in the incredible weather. We also finished most nights with a glass of wine outside. The comfort of the space, the neighborhood, the vibe - all perfect. Having a week in the city, we were able to explore every neighborhood; which only made us love our area more and more. With the boat located on a quiet canal, we felt such a rejuvenating sense of solitude. And still, it only ever took a 5-10 minute walk to get to a much more bustling area of town. So, we really got the best of both worlds! For a magical lodging experience completely unique to the city, look no further!

What a fantastic “something different”
Hubs and I felt like we were getting a warm hug from the boat itself. Not modern, but a solid and most enjoyable stay. The boat had everything you could need. It’s on a canal with not much traffic, so quiet and peaceful. It’s a nice break after being out in the action all day. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!!

The boathouse worked out well for us very roomy and had everything we needed, it was close to restaurants and bars in good neighborhood. We Would recommend it for a couple.

Katja was responsive and accommodating to our requests. The houseboat is very rustic but everything works as it should. Located in a quiet (except the trolleys passing on both sides of the canal) residential neighborhood within walking distance of everything you need or want to see.

What a Great Time
Great Location with good access to important areas. Chose this to experience of house boat living in Amsterdam. Wasn’t disappointed and got the flavor of being in a local neighborhood with local people. Pleased with the experience.

Great experience
I spent a little over a week in this great spot. It was unconventional but I had everything I needed. The kitchen was small but fully equipped, and I loved watching the ducks and swans swim by as I cooked . I worked at the dining table and was able to workout in the sunny living space. The bed room was small but I slept great. I would definitely go back and would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a stay experience.

Great place for an authentic stay
This houseboat is wonderful. It's very clean and comfortable. Walkable to all points in in the Amsterdam area, we didnt need to uber once. The host is also wonderful, she went above and beyond to help us check in because of our early flight.

Boat House Horror
We arrived at the Boat House which had no lighting outside and was dark. We realised straight away looking at the other Boat Houses that this was not going to be good. Having entered the accommodation our hearts sank, it was disgusting, dirty and very very unclean, unkept and outdated. I have lots of pictures of what we found as evidence, dirty fridge, dirty cupboards, baked good inside the microwave, the bedding and mattress were both stained. We left and didn’t spend one night there out of a five night booking. If you ever book this property I would rate it at 1 star. In comparison we paid half the price per night for a Four Star hotel in Dam Square as opposed to a disgusting dirty house boat. Happy to provide pictures to anyone wanting to try before you buy

Our guest already on the outside decided not to be happy with the houseboat. I must admit that Amsterdam went on lock down that night and I can imagine that does not make a tourist happy who is visiting Amsterdam for a holiday. Our guest then looked into every corner and yes he found some breadcrumbs in the microwave, as the girl checking him in has warmed up a sandwich as she was hungry and she had forgotten to clean it . All was working and it is a charming houseboat. I offered the client to invite him for lunch and clean the houseboat again but the guest had already a fight with his wife and he wanted to leave. He wanted me to buy new furniture. I then offered him to stay at a luxurious apartment my husband is renting to compensate .He wanted to except that offer but not now but in summer. I could not offer him the dates as the apartment is rented in the summer. I tried everything possible also I was offering a voucher for the houseboat for other dates. The way the communication went became very unpleasant for me . The guest was rude and on top he took the keys of the houseboat with him. He did not respect my property at all. It made me take off the houseboat of the listing for now. Guests like Gary does not want you to share your home anymore. The next guest was again very happy.

Wonderful Amsterdam canal experience
What a great way to experience Amsterdam! A five star experience in a wonderful area of Amsterdam. Sitting on the back deck watching the canal life was fascinating and the north part of the Jordaan area has a wonderful mix of cafes, markets and interesting attractions. The house boat was comfortable, albeit some of the furnishings and interior were a bit "tired". The bedroom is small and can be a bit noisy with canal traffic on a warm weekend, but the bed was comfortable and the noise is all part of the canal life. Overall, a fun experience for a couple looking for something different in Amsterdam.

The owner of the houseboat was easy to communicate with and very accommodating with an early check in. Nancy, her greeter, brought in extra flowers and a bottle of wine as we arrived. The location was fantastic, just outside of the center of town, walkable distance to everything. The houseboat itself could use some updating and attention to detail. The stove didn't work & towels, bedding could be upgraded. Also, be prepared-no AC. That being said, we really enjoyed our stay and loved being on the water!

Ruhig und trotzdem zentral.
Wir hatten hier ein paar schöne Tage. Sehr netter Empfang durch Nancy inclusive einem schönen frischen Blumenstrauß. Ruhig gelegen (für Zentrum Amsterdam). Sauber. Sehr gute Anbindung an das öffentliche Verkehrsnetz. Kleiner Supermarkt und Coffeeshop um die Ecke.

Never not staying on a houseboat again.
It’s a warm and comfortable little space, perfect for working and lounging. The kitchen is surprisingly big and the bed very comfy. WiFi was good, heat was responsive, blue tooth music system was nice, TV works well. waking up to light reflecting off the canal and birds swimming by the window was definitely my favorite part. It’s a special little place and located near enough to everything you need: tourist sites, groceries, coffee shops, but also far enough outside of it to feel like a real get away.

Charming houseboat in a good location
Plenty of room for 2 people. We enjoyed the deck drinking coffee and watching the occasional canal traffic go by. Easy walking distance from many restaurants and museums. Anne Frank house 10 minutes walk, Centraal Station an easy 20 minute walk. Communication with owner was excellent. This boat is in the Jordaan area which has a "chiller" vibe than some of the more touristy areas, and we enjoyed returning to it after visiting the more hectic areas of the city. We would recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to a hotel, with easy access to all Amsterdam has to offer.

Perfect Houseboat stay in Amesterdam
The houseboat was even better than we imagined (and we had imagined something pretty spectacular). A comfortable living space and bedroom separated by kitchen and bath. Sipping wine in the afternoon on the deck watching the boats troll by or having morning coffee out there, Perfect!!. Location: near all the fun (5 min walk) but far enough not affected by the noise. On two bus lines and two tram lines. Katja and Natalie were fabulous hosts. We will be looking to rent again when we return to Amsterdam.
