'Stayed in this lovely, newly refurbished motel in Collingwood recently. Spacious, nicely furnished with a very well equipped kitchen area, this is one of the cleanest, best presented motels I've ever stayed in. Right opposite the Collingwood Tavern for an evening meal, a few steps along the street from the handy convenience store and just a little further to the Farewell Spit tour office, the Pioneer Motel could not be better situated. 'Great place for a family to visit! Beach felt so quiet and so safe for kids swimming.'

'The location was perfect for our purpose, we wanted to stay near farewell spit to see the takahe. The hosts were very friendly, nice animals on the property and good views in general.It wasn't till we got there we realised the bathroom was in their house, which isn't the kind of thing we would have booked, being more private people. In our opinion it's a bit overpriced for what it is.'
