The Good:
The contact person was at the apt to greet us.
Good central location (but noisy-see below)
Near a metro station.
Pretty clean, but some notable exceptions to cleanliness.
Everything we needed to cook meals was there, like pots, pans, dishes, etc.
The owner left a fruit bowl, bottle of wine, and large bottle of water for us.
The door between the shower and the kitchen is interesting.
There was sufficient storage spaces.
The washing machine did not work, but they replaced it within 2 days after we notified them.
The Not So Good:
On a noisy street, which means traffic noise all night long in the front master bedroom. The back bedroom was quiet.
There was a suspicious loud gurgling noise in a drain in the kitchen area whenever you use the shower or toilet. Not sure what that was but it is unsettling.
The sofa and chair in the living room could use a cleaning.
The Ridiculous:
The lighting in the master bedroom is preposterous. No bedside reading lamps. There is a very large, heavy, dusty light fixture hanging over the middle of the bed suspended from the ceiling on 3 small wires. It is directly in your eyes when are in bed. We were concerned it could drop on us. One should never hang heavy objects over the bed.
The lighting over the sink in the master bedroom consists of 2 clear bare bulbs hung from the ceiling. Very painful to look at so we could not use them either, making the lighting insufficient. I suppose the room designer thought it looked cool, but it was stupid. Ladies, don’t expect to do your makeup in here.
There is an air filter/light over the range which we banged our heads on every time we cooked. It is a silly looking thing larger than a toaster over with protruding edges, right at forehead height over the main burner. All it did was move the heat or fumes up about 8 inches higher and then release them back into the room. Didn’t make sense and was a real nuisance to move around the thing to minimize head banging.
The master bathroom was actually part of the bedroom, not in a separate room. The shower was enclosed in clear glass which offered zero privacy if there was another person in the bedroom. The toilet was at least enclosed in frosted glass, but did not extend to the ceiling so your room mate could hear all your business.
