The employees were very kind and the service was great. The location is also the best. The rooms are nice but I had a higher expectation. A few power outlets on weird locations, no wall hooks to hang your jacket or pants. The tv is too slow. The rooftop and the Turkisch hammam were also closed due to renovation.

Zeer mooi hotel maar pittige prijs
Het was inderdaad een subliem verblijf zonder meer. Buitengewone luxe maar gezien de kamerprijs mag dit wel. Minpuntjes toch wel, we hadden een kamer aan de zijkant van de Rambla, met als gevolg veel lawaai 's nachts . Wat het ontbijt betreft, zeer goed maar ook niet opvallend: ik vroeg een spiegelei en dat was niet mogelijk, vind ik dan jammer voor zo een kamerprijs.

The hotel is in a very convenient location. I particularly liked the strong water pressure from the hand shower and the plush towels and robes and towel heater. We used the pool downstairs and the sauna.

As a hotel for a first visit to Barcelona, Hotel 1898 proved to be a good choice. We are walkers and the hotel made it easy to reach many of the areas and places we wanted to see. It is in a very busy area and for our next visit, we might to seek someplace a bit further away from the biggest crowds, but it served our purposes well.

Beautiful hotel, the signature tobacco smell creates a sumptuous atmosphere. The staff is fantastic, they were helpful for me with wifi, managing multiple reservations, brunch and the spa. Rooftop deck is a hot spot in the city. The spa pool is awesome.

The metro must run right underneath this hotel and we could hear and feel the trains from our room. Other than that, this hotel was great and the breakfast was quite extensive.

This hotel is immaculate, beautiful lobby, beautiful rooms, quality linens, the location on las ramblas was the best. 20 minutes walk to Gaudi houses and other attractions, dozens of restaurants around, great bar downstairs, taxis right in front. And on Las Ramblas. Our room had a side view of the Sagrada Familia. Highly recommend

I didn’t like that the noise that was coming from the subway because it would be every 5 minutes. It started getting annoying after a while. Especially when you’re trying to sleep.

I got a very good and perhaps unusual price for this hotel. I asked for and received a classic room in the back of the hotel on an upper floor. We could not have been more pleased as we wanted quiet sleeping and did not care about view. Beds and linens were top notch.Welcome drinks for rooftop bar, luggage service, convenient front desk and an incredible location made this a great value for us.

Klare Empfehlung! Das Hotel war sehr sauber, mit sehr guter Lage an der La Rambla, toller Dachterasse und trotzdem ruhig. Die Mitarbeiter waren mega freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Besonders zu erwähnen ist unser Dinnerkellner Pablo. Er schaffte es mit seiner Freude und Leichtigkeit das Serviceniveau nochmal zu heben.So stellt man sich Service vor. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

My wife and I stayed here in March 2024. The room was great. The hotel is beautiful and has a lot of amenities. The staff is very helpful. The hotel is located right off of La Rambla, about 400 meters (1/4 mile) from the main city square (Placa de Catalunya) that divides the Gothic Quarter from the Eixample district, so you are right in the heart of Barcelona. The only issue is that there is a lot of graffiti along La Rambla (not.the hotel's fault), which is a little off-putting. However, the area is very safe and I would definitely stay at the Hotel 1898 or close to Placa de Catalunya if I came back to Barcelona.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is thinking of a city break in Barcelona. The location is excellent and easy to find. Plenty of transport links nearby. Perfect for walking to city tourist locations such as the Gothic Quarter, La Rambla or Port Vell. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel was very clean and modern. The staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English which really helped since my Spanish is not good. If I return to Barcelona, this hotel will be the first place I’d look for when choosing my accommodation.

The property is the best place to stay in BCN for convenience and comfort. The location can not be beat. The beds are fantastic. This visit we loved the “tea time”and music in the lobby on Friday night. The musician was great. The staff is always helpful and in particular “Marcos” in the bar was kind and offered excellent service. The Spa was incomplete but the staff tried their best to be accommodating. We will continue to return to 1898 on our trips to BCN.
