The Social Hub Bologna
5/5 Excellent
"I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I booked a simple economy room for a layover in Bologna and didn’t expect much, but it exceeded all my expectations. I was initially a bit anxious about booking a twin room since I usually struggle to sleep on small beds, but this one was surprisingly spacious and very comfortable.
I’m not sure if I just got lucky with the size of the room, but it felt huge for a solo stay — with a separate wardrobe area, plenty of floor space, and a large bathroom complete with a bidet and shower.
One of the biggest surprises was the air conditioning — fully functioning and strong, which I honestly didn’t expect based on past experiences with Italian hotels.
The hotel also has a restaurant, bar, gym (on the smaller side and gets crowded), and a pool (also small and fills up fast). One suggestion to management: expand the pool area. There’s a lot of unused space that could easily fit more loungers instead of just tables and chairs. Right now, if you don’t get there early, you likely won’t get a spot.
Overall, it was a great experience and I would absolutely recommend it. I also tried the breakfast — priced at €18. While that felt steep considering the room was around €80, the quality was good and the variety was impressive.
