'Geen strand, alleen was leuk krokodil farm en de sandakan history trial , beter deze plaats overslaan, de receptie wist bijna niets , heel hard bed , leek wel of je op de grond sliep , ze hadden geen top matras, s avonds muziek van buiten , ik had geen warm water, meerdere keren gevraagd, stel prutsers, weinig water uit de kraan '

'Stayed here 2 nights in order to do activities in the surrounding area. Great location with shops and food a short walk away and not too from orangutans and airport. Breakfast was lovely and staff we're extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend.'

'Vriendelijke en behulpzaam personeel. Eten en drinken was prima. Op loopafstand tot de orangutan verblijf etc. Kortom een geweldige plek om te verblijven. Het enige dat niet goed was, waren de harde oncomfortabele kussens. Abdellatif en Somaya Mezian '

'Bolig:Super, skøn, autentisk træhytte, hvor man får følelsen af at bo midt i regnskoven. Restaurant: særdeles hyggelig med en fantastisk atmosfære. Mad og drikker er velsmagende og til en fin pris . 'Dit hotel was werkelijk het ergste wat wij hebben gezien in Maleisië. De kamer was vies, beschimmeld en overal zaten vlekken! '

'Staff are exceptional - friendly, kind, helpful. There's nothing fancy about the place, but nothing fancy is needed, given the surroundings. I especially enjoyed my balcony with the fan. Breakfast is decent and it's only a 20 min walk to the orangutan rehab centre and 5 mins to the rainforest discovery centre.'

'Johnathan and all of the staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Sorting and booking trips for us, helping us with local tips etc. The b and b is in the middle of the jungle, so please bear that in mind when you book, but is good value for the money.'

'Een heerlijke plek als uitvalsbasis voor de oerang oetang en sunbear conservatory en wat verder weg Kunabatangan river. Prachtige bungalows midden in het groen rond een mooi meertje. Kamers zijn prachtig met alle faciliteiten. Echte luxe in de jungle, aanrader!'

'Niet heel luxe, maar op loopafstand van het urang utan reservaat ligt sepilok forest edge resort. Mooi dek waar je heerlijke gerechtjes kunt eten en verse sappen drinken. Huisje zelf is basic maar oke. Als bonus een klein zwembadje!'

'We made a booking for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were told that they were full, despite our booking confirmation. We had to wait for 3 hours (welcome drink arrived after 2 hours) to be told that the only options were to stay in a dorm (for price of double room!!) or to go on a trip with them for the full price! Wow, bad managed. Even more, we checked the rooms online and they still had some higher class rooms available. They obviously didn't want to offer that and kept on saying they were full...

'It's a piece of luxury in an interesting place - don't let the exterior building fool you. You can be walking into another world in Sandakan and Hotel Sandakan is a sanctuary amongst it. The staff emulate the local Sabahan hospitality and friendliness, I will stay again next time.'
