'We stopped in Puntarenas on our way back from the west coast to San Juan. Unless you are curious to see all of Costa Rica, there is not much at all in this area. It's a filthy, poor area with little to offer, even though it is so close to the beach. The hotel is kind of old and tired with an unclean looking pool. Food is mediocre at best. 'The bungalows are on the outskirts of Santa Teresa, which was good. Santa Teresa extremely busy, lots of surfers. Beach was beautiful but not really swimmable due to rip current. Not a lot of close by restaurants to chose from'
