'Tricky to get to, small uncomfortable bed, very dirty, bottled water seen to have been bottled manually (didn't touch it, it had bits inside). Description mentioned 18 pools, we only saw one. Very poorly sound proofed. Not cheap (especially food). Pretty scenery all around.'

'The Fortress Balumgala is located in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood. However, it could be better maintained and managed. Under no circumstances should the guest be charged double the price for dinner because he arrived on a public holiday.'

'Excellent location to view the elephants in the river at good price. Staff were very attentive, nice pool and great breakfast. 4pm checkin was a bit of a pain, but we understand the reason why. 12pm checkout means you get see the elephants the next morning.'
