Mountain Cottage op Blue Ridge Overlook

Beetje moe van de stad? Kom naar de Blue Ridge Mountains en verfris je geest. We bevinden ons in het hart van het wijngebied van Virginia, op enkele minuten van wijngaarden en trouwlocaties. Geniet van onze lokale wijnen op het achterdek en bekijk spectaculaire zonsondergangen en wacht tot de sterren de lucht verlichten. Loop naar de Appalachian Trail vanaf de Bear's Den Trailhead, een mijl verderop. Speel een paar minuten verderop in de Shenandoah River. Middleburg, Purcellville, Leesburg en Civil War sites in de buurt.
Bishop's Gate werd in 1910 gebouwd als de pastorie voor de bisschop die de naburige kerk bestuurde. Het maakt deel uit van het Bear's Den Historic District, dat oorspronkelijk een zomerverblijf was voor Washingtonians die probeerden te ontsnappen aan de zomerse hitte. Gerestaureerd in 2018 door de eigenaren, die wonen op het naastgelegen pand, het huis wordt bijgewerkt terwijl het trouw blijft aan zijn oorspronkelijke vorm. Originele houten grenen vloeren, kralenbordwanden en origineel meubilair bieden veel charme.
We zijn gesitueerd op 20 hectare, perfect om kinderen in contact te brengen met de natuur en buiten de schermen!
De lentemarkt van Luckett ligt op tien minuten rijden.
Een uur van D. C., een half uur van Dulles.

Wonderful accommodations in a beautiful, secluded setting. Perfect for a weekend reunion with three long-time friends! The cottage provided a warm and welcoming refuge after each day of cycling in the country. With a wood stove (kindly lit by the hosts prior to our arrival!), fire pit, deck, screened-in porch, and an ample dining room with farmhouse style table, we had multiple settings for relaxing over good conversation, taking refreshment, and just catching up. And, not to be forgotten, the beds were extremely comfortable (also important after long rides!). BTW, Dirt Farm Brewery and Bluemont Station Brewery and Winery were two of our post-ride favorites and very convenient! And last, but not least, our hosts were exemplary in their hospitality and are to be commended for saving and restoring this historic property for others to experience. A-plus plus!

My friends and I were looking for a charming home to enjoy a relaxing, stress-free weekend—and we couldn't have come across a better home than this one! The hosts were incredibly helpful and responsive, and even arranged to have the wood stove in the living room going when we arrived. Can't recommend this cozy home enough!

This property is located out of the way, but also near enough to a lot of the areas you likely want to visit if you're staying in Northern Virginia. It was quiet, and the sense of history from the decor and background of the property is inspiring.

Beautiful house! Loved the porch, the lawn, the tire swing, and unfortunately we didn't have enough time to use the fire pit. It was a perfect place for our family to stay while attending a wedding. And Marcia was very communicative and lovely.

Pleasant little antique cottage in the woods with an interestingly charming story . Comfy beds, kitchen had all we needed. Host was very attentive . House had a musty odor once inside, but after opening a few windows it seemed to dissipate.

We had a wonderful stay in Bluemont! The location is very conveniently located to take advantage of everything that Bluemont and Purcellville have to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house and around town. We'd definitely return for another visit.

Beth and I are in Philly now, but both wish we were still in Marcia and Bill’s lovely cottage. The location is a perfect tonic for anyone wanting a peaceful refuge in the woods. The cottage is clean and well-equipped, and our nearby hosts made us feel welcome. The property is a short drive to great hiking on the AT, and close enough to several National Parks and historical sites. We loved to coming home each evening to grill out and enjoy the sounds of nature.

We couldn’t have asked for better hosts in Marcia and Bill. They were so nice and hospitable and really helped make the trip a success. Their attention to detail was on full display throughout the house. We have 4 kids under 8 and they loved every minute of the huge backyard, swing, and family time without a TV (they enjoyed the record player and lots of puzzles and games). As an added bonus the house has some neat history that you can learn about. Can’t recommend this home enough, top notch if you want a great “country” experience.

Four of us headed to B Chord Brewing to see a concert and were lucky enough to find this unique, charming rental to make for a fun weekend getaway. While there was plenty to do in the surrounding area (breweries, wineries, corn mazes, hikes), we spent a majority of our time hanging around the cabin as it offered a cozy place to relax, while enjoying the beauty and crisp-air of the autumnal outdoors. While the cabin is situated in a highly-tourist area, it is set back and quaint enough to make you forget about the hussle and bustle of its surroundings. (We were there during peak leaf-peeping season). We would definitely stay again - rustic charm and modern comforts made this an A+ stay.

My friends and I loved everything about Bishop's Gate. The house was charming, clean and very welcoming. We were able to enjoy the peace and quiet and the smore's on the bonfire was a fun touch. The location is perfect and so close to wineries. We will definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

A beautiful, quaint home with a lot of character. Staying at Bishop's Gate is like stepping back in time but with all the amenities and the perfect location. A picture perfect yard with a huge fire pit to enjoy. We had coffee and breakfast on the deck and s'mores by the fire at night (provided by Marcia). Beds were extremely comfortable and we were able to get a great nights sleep, which when traveling, can be trying. Our only suggestion would be the need for more comfy, inviting furniture in living room. It was a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing your home!
