the house was comfortable for our 5 nights. it has all the basic needs plus a generally well furnished (stocked) kitchen. i say "generally", as there was information that we would not have any pepper, which is strange, even though we did have it and would expect it in any rental. no pepper?? salt, but no pepper?? odd. we were also warned that there would be only 2 trash bags, and that was indeed the limit. happily we didn't generate a lot of trash and the receptacles in front were more than ample to hold it.
sadly, there is no recycling - NONE - so we had to dump our
recyclables into the bin with the paper trash - coke bottles, plastic, paper - all together. we would have carried it in the car, but we were fully loaded. NO recycling in 2019?? a sad commentary on us.
the house is comfortable, and the beds are good, and it was all very clean. it would be helpful if the upstairs shower had
a grab bar, a standard feature these days. the downstairs bedroom is large, dark, quiet, and one could sleep for days there. we called it "a cave". it's wonderful. were i a bear, i could hibernate there in winter. the air conditioning in the house works very well - a big plus in mid-summer. the back porch is glorious with comfortable wicker and a pleasant mountain view, shaded by leafy trees
in mid-summer. the house is very close to a main road, but
that is NOT a noise problem, as the walls appear thick, and there aren't a ton of windows anywhere. while it seems a main road, it doesn't get all that much traffic, so it's not at all a problem. if one has a dog and walks at night, take note of the steep unguarded drop off to the left of the front of the house. fortunately, we became aware of it early on in the day time and avoided it. it's quite something!! be alert to it. otherwise the grounds below the house, down the steps, are well kept and reasonably safe, so long as one keeps to the steps and the more gentle areas. all in all, it was a very pleasant stay.
