Charming, comfortable and clean
I really loved staying at the Rothbury. The room/apartment felt like home away from home. Well equipped, comfortable and clean. The building is lovely too, with a prewar hotel charm. Staff was great and attentive. It is very close to Central train station with connection to the airport. Everything was just right!

The room was spacious and comfortable. After-hours checkin was kind of stressful (intercom not working) but the people were very helpful and were focussed on getting the check-in completed and the issues resolved.

We were so disappointed with this accommodation, the price did not reflect the reality. The photos are very deceiving. On our first day, we found a pair of dirty underwear in the wardrobe, we informed the lady at reception and she said she was very sorry that she didn’t clean the room and the lady that did didn’t do a very good job. This is not a hotel it is a low level apartment accommodation at an overpriced rate. The appartment was so dirty and out dated. This trip was part of a celebration we were so disappointed we moved to other accommodation.

Got there at 4:30, staff already gone for the weekend. Room was very old and in rough shape. Had to wait 2 days until the staff came back. But, the lady was very nice and gave us a new room. Definitely “no-frills”.

Our office is open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, if the office was unattended at 4.30pm it is possible we were around the building assisting other guests. My stay at the Rothbury hotel was disappointing. I checked in after reception hours and had to provide my credit card details via their phone out the front of the property which isn't great for security in this day and age. This was even after a team member called days prior to obtain these details and were also filled out on an online check in form. The lady that greeted me at the door was pleasant however the cleanliness of the room was not great. Anything above eye level was not clean, the exhaust fans and air conditioner vents were dirty, tops of curtains and had dirt build up. There was no early checkout box, and I had call the hotel and was advised to put the keys through the closed reception grill which isn't ideal. The positives are that the position of the hotel is convenient, it was easy to get in touch with someone via phone if required and the onsite team were easy to deal with.

The Rothbury had a lovely old "Harry Potter" feel to it. The staff member was lovely and very helpful. The one big negative was the air conditioning was set at 27 degrees and it could not be changed. The aircon had to go to override mode to change the temperature down and every 2 1/2 hours it would reset back to 27 degrees. Terrible

Accommodation was pre paid, and I arrived at 6.30pm and the building was locked. An intercom was the only way to communicate. I had to give all my details over the intercom, credit card, expiry date and CSV also my drivers licence in an open and very public environment! A lot of road noise and crappy intercom speaker!! I travel a great deal for work and I wiil NOT be staying here againA

Not a good location and not impressed with the stay. Room was very dark, no one serviced my room or topped up the toiletries or tea bags etc. No fresh towels, long way to find somewhere to eat dinner. Getting picked up out the front was impossible, two Ubers went right past me. Not impressed at all staying there, wouldn't go back again. Not value for money. Far better places to stay in Brisbane that are cheaper.

Warning!! The photos are deceiving!!!!!!!!!!! The bathroom was dirty (mouldy showers, dirty floors and bench), the room had a stench (old wet carpet smell), and to top this off....... the sheets were dirty (top sheet had brown dirt marks across the top, like someone put their suitcase down and left). There wasn't even a vending machine in the building. Oh by the way... parking is $50 and they only have 5 spots available for 25 apartments! It was so bad, we didn't even stay the 2 nights booked. We ran out of there and found another hotel 🙉 Will be chasing a refund immediately! The hygiene element was just horrible!

Thank you Jessica for your feedback. We take all feedback seriously and investigate thoroughly. As the Manager I personally inspected your apartment before you arrived. I am sure you are aware that we have had significant rain over the past months and our beautiful heritage listed building is almost 100 years old. When I inspected your apartment when you departed, I did not see any of the items you have raised. Older buildings do have a slight damp smell at times and with significant rain you may have smelt this. As the building is old and the apartment has not been renovated there is some deep ingrained stains under the grout that cannot be removed until it is completed refurbished. I also personally checked you in and as you had not booked a car space advised you of your options and limits being a city building and car parking. You and your partner opted not to pay for parking and were going to park on the street. You chose to leave early and advised us that this was due to no free parking being available in Brisbane city. We have never had a vending machine on site so I am perplexed on your comment on this. Thank you again for your feedback.

It was very convenient for late arrival. Beds were comfortable. 1 room missing blind that was not good for privacy or sleep ins. Doors missing from bathroom cupboard. Room could do with clothes rack. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Will stay again. 1shower had no shelf and very low water pressure. Overall it as a great stay.

A really good sleep!

There was black mould surrounding the ceiling air con vent. The place was filled with dust - I actually wrote a message in it! There was dust over most surfaces - I don’t think it had been cleaned in a really long time. We used the ironing board and all white stuff fell out of it. And there was no one at reception to complain to. A terrible experience and we won’t be back or ever recommend it.

Well located with a spacious room.
Could not be better located for Central Station which is handy if using a train to get to the city. Short walk to central shopping area and Riverside. Older building, and while the room was clean and bed was good, other furnishings are on the dated side. Nice and quiet during my stay. I found it a good value option and would stay again.

We booked two rooms, first room on level 2 was very modern clean and smelt great, my two sons occupied this. Husband and I had a room on level 4 and it was older and less modern. Had a pull down bed in the lounge that had not been cleaned in a while and the spare pillows need replacement. the bed in the main bedroom was comfortable however the aircon blew directly down on me and i could feel bugs on me during the night maybe from the aircon? The kitchen clean but small and no air movement, the tv was tiny for the huge lounge. No view from the windows and couldnt open windows at all. Overall the stay was pleasant for us and great for my sons downstairs. Loved the ornate decor of the building as its old and has many original features such as old fashioned lifts and cornessess, ceiling roses etc Very helpful staff however when parking

Lovely Art Deco building in a really good location, close to Central Station and walking distance to the mall. Our room was styled nicely and the beds were super comfy, but a bit of an update eg paint, new bathroom would be appreciated. The room was really clean apart from one curtain stain. Facilities were good - each bedroom had an ensuite and there was a washing machine in one bathroom, but basic supplies such as dish detergent and dishwasher tablets were not supplied, which I thought was odd. Bathroom consumables were nice - Mor brand.

Stayed 2 nights. Lovely Old art deco building. Spacious apartment. Quiet. No exhaust fan in bathroom and no rangehood over stove. Equipped kitchen but no large pot or large serving spoon.Comfortable bed. Desk chair not comfortable. Some furniture worn. Good to have washer dryer. Reception seemed to be open longer hours than what was sent in email. Will stay again.

This is a good clean and reasonably priced place to stay in Brisbane. It is at the top of town and almost straight across the road from the train station. Only strange thing is the check in procedure. If your after 3pm ( which most people will be) you have to go to a key drop box. I think the after hours drop box should be after say 8pm instead. I would use it again as it is good value - but it’s definitely not a 5 star. I think 3.5 would be a good star rating for it.

Character and charm - building and staff
Fantastic stay, perfect location for our needs. Only 2 minute from central train station and coffee shops within 1 minute from hotel front door. Amazed at how quiet the rooms were with no street noise. Staff were excellent, so welcoming and made our stay extra special. The apartment we stayed in did need a few items to be repaired like the soap holder in the shower but this was easily overshadowed by the outstanding staff and character of the 1930s building and beautiful lifts. Will stay again with any doubt.

Positief: Netheid, voorzieningen en staat van de accommodatie en faciliteiten
Beautiful Art Deco building and great location. Room was spacious but dated.
