The Whaler's Cottage is een van de vroege huizen gebouwd in Cape May. Het is een vier kamer, twee en een half badkamer eengezinswoning gelegen aan Corgie Street in het hart van het historische district. Perfecte locatie om te lopen naar alles wat Cape May te bieden heeft. 5 minuten naar het centrum, 10 minuten naar het strand, 1 blok naar Cape May Tennis Club, Park en Museum. Elke vierkante voet van dit pand is het afgelopen jaar liefdevol gerestaureerd, dit huis biedt luxe upgrades van boven naar beneden en biedt het perfecte platform voor het ontvangen van uw grote groep voor vakantie. De eerste verdieping is een open concept met de Original 1870-serre die uitmondt in een grote familiekamer met 70 "intelligente flatscreen-tv met HD-kabel. Familiekamer vloeit over in een volledig uitgeruste keuken van de chef-kok met Viking Range, afwasmachine, afvalverwijdering en ingebouwde banket eethoek met plaats voor 10 personen. Uit de keuken is een modderkamer met wasmachine en een ruime 1/2 badkamer. Een grote slaapkamer met kingsize bed en een flatscreen-tv van 36 inch bevindt zich ook op de eerste verdieping met een eigen aangrenzende badkamer. De tweede verdieping biedt drie extra slaapkamers; Kamer met 1 kingsize bed met een flatscreen van 36 inch, een volledige kamer, een kamer met stapelbedden en een tweepersoonsbed en een luxe badkamer met een opstaande douche en een ligbad. Het derde niveau is een gerenoveerd kinderhal voor kinderen met gerenoveerde originele vloeren, twee eenpersoonsbedden en een 50-inch intelligente flatscreen-tv voor games of films kijken. Coole decoratie is volop aanwezig, want verzamelobjecten van Campbell Soup, CocaCola en JNJ mengen met oudere stukken van de oorspronkelijke walvisvaarders van Cape May tegen de achtergrond van een luxe huis. Buiten het huis heeft een buitendouche, Gas Grill en een terras voor uw buitenplezier. Een ruime schuur zal je fietsen en strandstoelen opbergen. Oprit kan 4 auto's passen met een extra parkeerplaats op straat. Hardhouten vloeren, centrale AC, Wifi en HD-kabel overal! Dit huis slaapt comfortabel 10 personen.

Location was great for exploring Cape May (off season) - we parked our car when we arrived and didn’t need it again until we were leaving! Number of rooms & bathrooms worked well for our group. Open first floor made if easy to converse between kitchen, dining, and relaxing on the sofa.

Love Cape May

This was our 4th trip to Cape May and our first time at the whaler’s cottage. It was a fun place to stay and make memories with our children and grandchildren. It sits on a quiet tree lined street with an awesome playground nearby. What we liked: There were plenty of bedrooms and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom and outdoor showers were great. The living room is spacious. A laundry room and half bath were conveniently located at the side entrance. The Forte gas range was wonderful for cooking and the Bosch dishwasher was quiet. There was plenty of parking and space for the kids to ride their bikes. The shed was stocked with bikes and beach gear, and there were eight beach passes for our use.What we didn’t like: The AC units are directly outside the master bedroom window and they are loud for light sleepers. The kitchen has minimal counter space and the island cart is quite small for making meals to serve 10 people (6 adults and 4 kids).

Great location for family

Had a great trip at whalers cottage we were there for an early June family trip and it this location was great. 1 minute walk to a great park with playgrounds, a pond, basketball and fishing and only 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Plenty of space for our group family of 4 (2 girls 5 and 3yo) and our nanny. We also had our friends stay for 2 nights who also have 2 toddlers and had plenty of space. The owner had great communication with us and really had all the essentials we needed in the shed. The only issue was that there was construction next door which was annoying but the workers were nice.

Charming, convenient, comfortable and clean

Our family loved the Whaler's Cottage. We have rented in this neighborhood for several years and love the proximity to the tennis club and Washington St mall. It's on a quiet, charming street. The house was perfect for our needs and we would definitely love to stay here again. A few notes:- FYI, the house next door is undergoing major renovation. We arrived on Thursday night and left on Monday, which was a holiday, so we only experienced one day (Friday) when the workers were on site. They started promptly at 10 am. We were out and about for most of the day and didn't spend a lot of time at the house, but when we were there, the noise was bothersome. It would have woken up a child from a nap. But if you'll be out during the day, it should be ok.- The house is more spacious than it appears in photos. - The loft with two twin beds can only be accessed from the bedroom with the bunk beds.- We received an email with checkin instructions that had incorrect wifi information. The correct wifi information is on a message board under the living room TV.- The TV does not have integrated access to streaming services. I wish I'd brought my Chromecast device so we could have watched Netflix or Disney.- Random things I was glad that they provided: paper towels, dishwashing soap, kitchen towels, Keurig pods, tea bags, liquid hand soap in the bathrooms- Things we're glad we brought: Kleenex, gloves for washing dishes, foil, cooking spray, honeyThanks for a great vacation!

Girls weekend

The home was lovely, clean and within walking distance to the beach and town. The street and surrounding area was beautiful and quiet. There is construction going on at the house next door, however, we were fortunate enough to get there on a Friday evening when the workers were shutting down for the weekend. The crew at the site did an excellent job ensuring the driveway was clean and fenced off. We had a wonderful time and thank the owners for allowing us the opportunity to stay in their lovely home.

Great house!

My family and I came to Cape May to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday. This was our first time staying at the Whaler’s Cottage, and we were very pleased. It is a beautiful house, and it is very clean. It is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk to Washington Street. Would 100% recommend and stay again!

This is my family’s 3rd time staying here. We really enjoy the house and the location in Cape May. A simple walk to the mall and beach from the house. Very clean and organized home. 5 bedrooms including the 3rd floor if you need. Obviously we enjoy since we come back every year!

Lovely Home, but Host’s Invasive Behavior Violates Disability Rights

The Whaler’s Cottage is a beautiful and well-maintained property, but our stay was overshadowed by the host’s inappropriate and legally questionable actions. Shortly after our arrival, the host messaged me on the Vrbo app and accused us of sneaking in a pet and then demanded documentation for my service dog after apparently seeing its vest, raising concerns about being watched. As a person with a disability, I am protected under the ADA, which prohibits such intrusive demands. Service animals are not pets, and hosts cannot require documentation or inquire about the nature of a guest’s disability. The legal consequences for such behavior include fines and potential lawsuits for ADA violations. A more appropriate approach would have been to ask, “Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?” and “What task is it trained to perform?” This would have respected my rights while addressing the host’s concerns. While the home itself is lovely, the host’s invasive behavior made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Until the host demonstrates a better understanding of ADA compliance, I cannot recommend this property.
