Disappointing Style over Substance
Beautiful, modern apartment in a good location with stunning views. However, the apartment was not clean. It was quite clear that it had not been properly cleaned to an acceptable standard for a long time. There was hair on the bathroom floor, thick dust around the extractor fans, dirty cutlery in the drawers, coffee splatters on the doors, filthy skirting boards, both showers had mould starting to appear. The glass on the balcony was so dirty that when we sat out there to admire the view we couldn’t see it for the layers of grime. There were cobwebs in the corners on the patio. We complained to the property management company Zap Holidays.. We had to go in person to their office as they do not answer the phones in July & August. We showed them pictures of the worst bits & they did offer a €70 refund of the cleaning fee. This took 10 days to back on my card. Although the apartment is well equipped, it does not have a kettle so we had to use a saucepan to make hot drinks. There was a coffee machine but it was very old & dirty. The hairdryer didn’t work & there wasn’t a chopping board. Zap did provide these items on day 2 of our holiday.
We were so disappointed that such a beautiful apartment was not up to standard. We paid a lot of money for this accommodation and we asked for a refund of part of the costs to compensate. Zap holidays said they would contact the owner. . Despite emailing several times & leaving messages on Zap holidays intranet we never heard anything. We contacted VRBO who we booked it with and each time someone told me something different. It has been so frustrating & despite many, many calls & emails that have resulted in getting no where, we have had to try & get a partial refund through our credit card. This could take months. The grounds were very well maintained & the pool was lovely. At times it was quite noisy & we didn’t always get a sun bed as it was crowded but then again that’s to be expected in the school holidays. We have been back for 10 days now & we are still waiting for our €250 damage deposit to be returned. I tried ringing them but no answer. I tried emailing them, no reply. Eventually I managed to WhatsApp them to request the refund. They said it takes 10-15 days once we have left the apartment to be refunded. I certainly would not book anything again through Zap holidays.
