Dit is een gloednieuwe, volledig gerenoveerde oase van 2700 vierkante meter aan East Bay Street, op slechts een steenworp afstand van Market Street. Het beslaat de gehele 3e verdieping van The Charleston Chestnut Mansion. Je bent een korte wandeling naar alles wat Charleston "World's Best City" maakt - historische attracties en musea, kunst, lekker eten, het nachtleven en ongeëvenaarde winkels. Deze suite beschikt over unieke architectonische details - zoals kathedraalplafonds en zichtbare balken - eigen parkeergelegenheid op het terrein, 3 slaapkamers, 2 badkamers (elk gevuld met veel zachte handdoeken, badjassen en slippers, Gilchrist & Soames badproducten en een haardroger) en een keuken van een chef-kok met de beste apparatuur. De open, ruime indeling van de keuken, eetkamer en woonkamer laten u en uw gasten ontspannen, zich vermengen en genieten van elkaars gezelschap.   • The Dock Street Theatre is Charleston's last surviving hotel from the antebellum period. The silhouette of its wrought iron balcony against the spire of St. Philip's church may be the single most photographed spot in the city. The main portion of the building was constructed around 1809 as Planter's Hotel. The hotel was built by Alexander Calder and his wife, who did so by renovating several pre-existing buildings at the site. The main entrance may not have been built until 1855 by J.W. Gamble. The hotel was used extensively by planters from the midlands of South Carolina, who traveled to Charleston during horse-racing season. It was noted for its wonderful food and drinks during this era, and the South's famous Planter's Punch may have originated here. Guests to the hotel passed through the recessed porch with brownstone columns, into the lobby, and up a grand staircase that ascended to a drawing room. While much of the interior has been altered, these elements of the antebellum hotel remain and were adapted in subsequent uses of the building. A series of additions to the hotel throughout the 19th and 20th centuries can be easily identified by differences in brick coloration. This theater is said to have been the first building built specifically for theatrical performances in America. Planter's Hotel occasionally housed one of the city's theatrical troupes, which performed at the nearby New Theatre during the mid-19th century. The most notable actor of this troupe was Junius Brutus Booth. Booth was the patriarch of an outstanding family of actors, which included John Wilkes Booth, President Lincoln's assassin. Junius Booth, who stayed at the Planter's Hotel, allegedly tried to kill his manager here in 1838. Today the Dock Street Theatre is home to the Charleston Stage Company, South Carolina's largest professional theater production company, and houses the city's Cultural Affairs office as well as The City Gallery, an exhibition space for local artists.

My family of four stayed here for a Charleston wedding. It was a great location to walk almost everywhere. It was the third floor of the house so there are steps to climb. It wasn’t a problem for us but may be for some. It was comfortable, clean and convenient. The bedroom with the twin beds is very small, basically only the two beds with no option to put them together.

We were in town for my daughters wedding. We needed a place with more than two bathrooms, dog friendly, and a great location and this property more than delivered. Beautifully furnished, great location, tons of square footage, and to read about the history of the building was a plus. I highly recommend. I would live there full time if I could.

Gorgeous Property

We ended up booking this property at the last minute after we had to leave our 1st rental in Charleston due to security concerns. The owners of this property are wonderful and very responsive. The property itself is gorgeous, extremely clean and very comfortable. It is right downtown, which made it so convenient for all of the activities we booked during our stay. Even though it is one block from the Market, it is very quiet at night. We were so happy we found this place and plan on booking it for our next trip to Charleston.

Golf weekend with the fellas

Great space, a bit quirky with the two seating areas but that might work to some groups advantage. It is just as advertised with the 3 floor walk up and third bedroom which is really just big enough for the two single beds. All appointments were very high quality....cooking appliances, countertops flooring, bathroom fixtures, Laundry necessities, etc. Not very scenic to the outside world with limited views in most rooms. The location, although bordering on an industrial part of Charleston, is really very, very convenient for all of the stuff you come to Charleston for.... Parking is super convenient too! Andrea was great and there was even a property manager available to meet our Instacart driver as they arrived before us.

Wonderfully located property

The property was beautiful and well appointed. We were able to walk to most restaurants we wanted to go to and only had to take the car out when we went out to Sullivans Island, Folly Beach and the plantations. The market is 1/2 a block away and Callies Hot Little Biscuits are a great grab and go in the morning. Also, we found this very strange little pizza place that is literally across the parking lot. The teenagers loved this as the slices were gigantic and sold by the slice. They would walk over there and get pizza and play the old pac man game. It was very old school and delicious. Giovannis was the name. The Harris Teeter grocery store is 1 block away. The Charleston carriage rides are the next building and so you see the horses everyday but don't worry you can not smell them from inside the unit. It was fun to see the comings and goings from there. Some considerations on the unit. The queen bedroom was very hot all of the time. I would recommend adding a ceiling fan or a floor fan for this person. Another consideration was the closet beds. We had two teenage boys so they didn't seem to care but the twin beds are literally in a closet and if you close the doors, there is no air conditioner in there so you must keep the door open. A fan in here would also be helpful at night. We had a great time and would definitely go back and stay here again.

Great location. Nice place. But street noise is really bad. Hiking three flights of stairs is rough and the place needs more room (dressers ,etc) to store clothes. All the dressers (which may be plenty) were filled with bed linens. My VRBO experiences (12 of them) have all been excellent. This one...nice place, great location but has some challenges
