'Na een lange dag door de mooie Catlins gereden te hebben, was dit een fijne welkoms accomodatie, inclusief de mooie view over de zee!! Omdat we getipt waren door de eigenaar zijn we later ook nog naar de pinguïns gaan kijken!!'

'Deirdre & Graeme have an amazing set up here. The chalets are surrounded by landscaped gardens and feel very private. They are well thought out & immaculately presented. We really enjoyed a relaxing few days here enjoying the spa pool, the BBQ and the local area. Deirdre & Graeme gave us some great tips including to go wine tasting at the vineyard across the road.'

'Friendly helpful staff. Grocery store, 5 min walk. Rental bikes & e bikes nearby plus gravel rail-trail for short or long rides. 10 minuet walk to “Shakey Bridge” (go there, it’s fun).'

'Room was clean and provided kitchen materials to make breakfast if you buy the basics. Their continental breakfast was $16 each and cappuchino was $5. Dinner was very tasty with a good seafood chowder. White wine was good quality (its Central Otago!) and fair price.... Plenty of space in the room. Hard to regulate the shower volume...always full flow. Comfortable motel, would stay again. Roger. '

'Arrived late in the day and was welcomed by the owner and taken to our room, it was super spotlessly clean and smelt really nice, very comfortable bed and awesome shower perfect room for 2 Next morning we were greeted with a friendly smile and a good morning then told breakfast was included in our room rate, we were given a small but super tasty menu and cooked a very fresh and super tasty breakfast by the other owner and delivered with a friendly smile and enjoy and it filled the spot, awesome...

'I had a lovely albeit short stay at Hawkdun Rise. Suzanne and John are wonderful hosts who make you feel at home. The interior could be slightly more modern for my personal taste but everything was very clean and well kept. And you can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into creating a space in which their guests can feel comfortable and welcome. Need to try their Gewürztraminer! '

'Lovely place to stay. When we arrived, the property was very clean and looked newly refurbished, but the most stunning was the panoramic view of the ocean. Usually we eat out when we’re on holiday but it was so nice in the property that we went to the grocers in the next town and cooked for ourselves. Then walking along the beach just across the road. The sunrise in the mornings are a joy to watch. A few basic supplies were also left for us. Well done to Lisa for a most enjoyable stay :)'
