'A large suite with separate bedroom and bathroom, both of a very generous size. This was offered as an upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. Staff most attentive and food and service in the restaurant was excellent. Highly recommended.'

'Hotel was excellent, close by the town centre. Service was also excellent and our room was spacious with an enormous bathroom and superb shower. Our only down side was the size of the bed, it was hardly the kingsize to which we are accustomed so we did not sleep well together, would make sure we had twin beds if we stayed again. Otherwise we rate this hotel highly.'

'Nice tidy and clean room that looked like it had been recently fitted out. Decent sized Kitchen at each end of the corridor i didn't use them but they looked fully kitted out and new. The hotel is on a quiet residential street but took me 5mins to walk into the town centre which has loads of bars, shops and restaurants. Worth calling ahead of arrival and they'll reserve you a parking spot (There aren't many spots) Nice bloke on reception showed us our rooms and kindly found me a fan. '

'Hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The room was very modern and lovely & clean. When we did stay it was a very hot weekend where the room was hot, would of been nice if there was a fan in the room that we could of used. Free parking which is an added bonus. Only short walk into Colchesters main town. Would recommend to anyone.'

'Een karakteristiek gebouw uit de 14de eeuw, erg leuk! Echter de vloerbedekking en stoelbekleding niet echt schoon.Kamer op 2de etage aan de doorgaande straat, dus best veel verkeersgeluiden. Geen airco. geen koelkastje. Leuke pub, maar pas open om 17u en helemaal leeg, dus ongezellig. Goede badkamer. Prima ontbijt. Wel aardig en behulpzaam personeel.'

'Het is een leuk hotel waar het karakter van af druipt. Mooie houten balken door het hele gebouw. Dit betekend wel dat de vloeren ook scheef zijn en kraken. Verder was het een leuke ervaring. Kamer was wel heel warm en onze ramen waren aan de voorkant dus toen we deze openzetten hoorde we eerst veel uitgaansvolk en daarna een veegwagen.'

'This was a wonderful experience, very friendly staff who were always ready to help, offering glasses of chilled water in the spacious and well-furnished public rooms and alcohol in the evenings. We stayed in the large Shakespeare room, often used as a Bridal Suite. The spa is great, with a good sized pool, a jacuzzi and unusual sauna. 'Lovely place to stay, just outside of Sudbury town centre. Room was cosy, bed lovely and comfortable with a great shower. Owners were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast options were great and tasty. It's not walking distance to any evening food options, so you will need a car if staying there, but Sudbury is only 10 minutes away. '

'We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round .'
