Family House on Lake Murray is located on Sunset Point. Sip a cool beverage or a hot toddy depending on when you visit while enjoying the swing on the back veranda. The family home provides an open floor plan that includes family, dining & kitchen space with 22' ceilings, fireplace and expansive views of the lake. The back porch spanning the full length of the house provides tons of outdoor living space. 5 bedrooms have king size beds and private bath and the 6th bedroom has 4 built in bunk beds and its own private bathroom. Outstanding views of the lake from the open great room and Master bedroom as well as 3 bedrooms on the second floor. Outdoor fire pit is perfect for chilly nights. Home is on cul-de-sac street and off a dead end street so it’s very quiet and private. The house is 1 mile from the entrance to Timberlake Country Club. It's perfect for large families or couples who require private bathroom space.

This place was fantastic! It was absolutely gorgeous and had everything my family needed for a 5-day stay. The hosts thought of everything- there were comfy blankets for chilly mornings on the porch, extra beanbag chairs for game nights in the living room, and the kitchen had everything for cooking, grilling, serving, etc. The entire place was clean and beautifully decorated. All bedrooms had their own bath and walk in closet, and there was a half bath in the main living area. The beds and linens were all very comfortable and all the guests slept very well. Even the dog had a blast (there was a toy chest of dog toys in the hall closet which he sniffed out right away)! My family had a wonderful time and would absolutely stay here again. Also, the sunsets and view were outstanding, as well as the hosts recommendations for places to eat and explore. The parking was ample and off street, and the hosts were very responsive to any questions. I can’t say enough good things about it- if you are looking for a place to stay, look no further! This is THE place!

This home exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect fit for our families to all come together and spend Christmas together. They provided all needed amenities and then some. Tom and Angie were wonderful with quick responses and very hospitable. The home had magnificent views and is definitely a space we would love to come back to in the future! This home is wonderful for a stay. We have stayed in a Vrbo every Thanksgiving for the past 3 years and this home was our favorite. The owners were always responsive and even had martini glasses shipped to the house during our stay as the house didn’t have any. The sunsets were truly amazing from the house. The fire pit was large enough for conversation and family time. The home was decorated for the holidays and added that special touch for our large gathering. I would give this home 10 stars. It felt like home away from home. My only recommendation to the owners would be to add a hot tub for the back porch to further enhance the experience to watch the sunsets.

The house was beautifully decorated. They even put up Christmas decorations for us since our family was celebrating early. The house was plenty big for our extended family. All the beds were king size and very comfy. The outdoor area facing the water was fantastic! Our favorite place to relax and watch the gorgeous sunsets. Tom and Angie were fantastic and made the process of booking, checking in and departing super easy! We will definitely be back!

We had a fabulous time here and we will be back again. The location at the lake cannot be beat and the views were stunning. Everything was clean and comfortable, and every need was provided for - throws and blankets, beach towels and chairs, games, etc. We especially enjoyed the front porch with the firepit and games!. We had an amazing week staying with our friends. The house was outstanding, with beautiful views, and a great location on the lake. We were so grateful that our dogs were welcomed. Very well stocked with everything you could possibly need, and very spacious. Everyone had plenty of space for themselves, and plenty of room for us to gather after a fun day on the lake. We had 2 boats and 2 jet skis, the dock was a little crowded! Parking was a little tricky with 3-trucks w/trailers and another vehicle. The hosts are very mindful of you from the beginning to the end of your stay.

Relaxing well appointed lake retreat

Tom and Angie's Home was perfect for our family get together. The rooms were well appounted and they thought of everything to the last detail. The home was spotless, lake view breathtaking and beds were comfortable. Owners were quick to respond to questions and mase us feel very welcome. Pictures do not give the beauty of the home justice. Families gathering for USC graduation

This home was perfect for our 5 families to gather so we could celebrate our children’s graduations from USC. The home was beautiful. The layout was perfect. Cozy home for family bonding!

The home was well equipped with everything we needed and more to spend quality time gathering with family - both inside and outside the home in the spacious backyard and patio areas. Thank you to the Nykamp family for not just opening their home, but ensuring all amenities were well stocked so we didn’t have to worry about anything beyond our basic needs and enjoying each other. The Perfect Christmas gathering

We had a family gathering of 10, ages 1-67, and this house was a dream! Every bedroom was spacious, well appointed, and thoughtfully included its own full bath! The kitchen had tons of pots, pans, serving dishes, eating utensils, cooking utensils, and every appliance you might need. There was plenty of space to have numerous cooks in the kitchen at once, and lots of prep space, while being able to keep an eye on kids in the living area, or being part of the gathering in the family room. We had a few rainy days and made use of the fireplace in the family room, as well as a multifunctional round table in the entryway for playing games (could also be used for dining). The main dining table easily seated 8 adults, and could accommodate adding the provided high chair for our one year old.The back patio is huge, includes a grill, and has several useful spaces for gathering or games, enjoying the fire table, and a swinging porch bed, which the kids loved. The house also included a large metal portable gate that can block off access to the stairs and yard if needed for children or a dog. It was a lifesaver for our little ones.The yard and lake access is wonderful! Three of our party did several polar plunges, while the rest of our party enjoyed the firepit, and playing frisbee in the yard.We also especially appreciated that Tom and Angie had decorated the house for Christmas! We enjoyed having three lovely trees, as well as garlands, and small seasonal touches throughout!

Family of 12 Birthday Celebration

Our family gathered together to celebrate my 60th birthday, and the Nykamp Lake House exceeded our expectations! Every comfort was graciously and thoughtfully provided. If you're reading this review, I'm sure the first thing you want to know is the level of cleanliness. You'll have no worries in this house. Every inch is cleaned thoroughly - We didn't have to use our travel housekeeping kit at all. The kitchen had all the cookware and serving ware necessary for our formal birthday dinner party. The appliances are new, clean, and well maintained. Each bedroom has a king bed (except the kids' room) that is unbelievably comfortable! We slept in the principal bedroom on the first floor and were WOWed! My wife is a travel blogger, so we stay in hotels and vacation rentals often. Needless to say the Nykamp's has become her favorite. They provided everything from cardboard to start the fire pit, coffee, cozy lap blankets extra pillows/blankets, handsoap, cleaning products to restaurant recommendations. They were available to answer all of our questions and responded promptly. I can't rave enough about this beautiful home!We will definitely be back and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for affordable luxury, an abundance of space to spend time with your loved ones. Better Than the Photos

This beautiful home was everything we needed for our Thanksgiving family gathering. Every bedroom has an en suite bath, kitchen is fully stocked with equipment, utensils, etc. (I always bring a couple of favorite pans to rentals, but never needed them.)The lake view is better than the photos, as the lot faces the widest part of Lake Murray. Large back yard for kids and a large dock (bring a light tackle rod and a couple of lures). Tom, the host, is THE BEST. This VRBO gets an A+++

Blown away!

This was hands down the best vacation home my family and I have ever stayed in! Excellent communication with the host who is incredibly nice! When you walk in you feel like you’re in a family/friends house rather than a sterile rental house. There isn’t a bad view from any room. Anything you could think of is in the house from extra blankets, to pillows, to games and movies. So much love and thought was poured into this house, loved the personalized coasters and cups! There was plenty of space for my family to gather together and plenty of space to be alone as well. We had a day or two of rain but we were still able to spend time outside on the huge back porch. The swing was most popular. We enjoyed our time so much we’ve already started planning our return trip!
