  • Trainspotting hoeft geen fantasie te zijn. Hier bij Porter's Lodge kun je letterlijk aan de baan zitten en ontspannen ... Begane grond: woonkamer. Keuken met ontbijtruimte. Badkamer met douche en toilet. Eerste verdieping: 1 slaapkamer met tweepersoonsbed (kan 6ft dubbel zijn). Houtkachel in de woonkamer (initiële brandstof inbegrepen). Elektrische kachels inbegrepen. CD. Elektrisch fornuis. Wasdroger. Koelkastdiepvriezer. Zitgedeelte en meubels. Parkeren (1 auto) .. Een echt juweeltje voor treinliefhebbers, dit Victoriaanse treinstation bestaat uit het Station House (ref HW7742) (het voormalige huis van de stationschef) en Porter's Lodge (ref HW7806), in een rustige dorpse omgeving. Ze zitten pal naast de Llangollen Heritage Steam Railway, die zich een weg baant door het prachtige landschap van de Dee Valley tussen Llangollen en Corwen. Station House heeft een mooie cottage-tuin en is tijdens de feestdagen versierd met een kerstthema. Porter's Lodge heeft een zithoek naast het prachtig gerestaureerde stationsplatform, waar u kunt zitten met een glas wijn en de treinen voorbij zien rijden. Dit is een perfecte locatie om de omgeving te verkennen, met geweldig wandelen, vogels kijken en talloze buitenactiviteiten in de buurt. Llangollen, de thuisbasis van de International Musical Eisteddfod, heeft mooie wandelingen langs het kanaal en over het Pontcysyllte-aquaduct. Erddig en Chirk Castle (NT) liggen in de buurt en Nationaal park Snowdonia is gemakkelijk te bereiken. Winkel 3 mijl, pub en restaurant 0. 5 mijl .. Beide eigenschappen: elektriciteit, beddengoed en handdoeken inbegrepen. Freeview-tv. DVD. Magnetron. Wifi. Niet roken.

Wonderful few days.

Wonderful few days. Just delightful to sit outside and watch the trains go by. Very clean and tidy. Very comfortable furnishings. Our only problem was it's a bit difficult to get into the bed when it is linked as a double because of the angle of the roof. Lots to do in the area but just great sitting watching trains. Very clean and comfortable.

Very clean and comfortable. Everything thought of even down to washing machine pegs iron and ironing board. The week we went it was steam trains all week. One every hour. Bonus of an extra train on the Sunday evening bringing passengers to a firework display which was in the opposite field so I got to watch it from the comfort of the velux bedroom window.. Not only did I comment in the visitors book but I also left the caretaker/cleaner a thank you card.

We had a great holiday! Being next to the station was ideal as we love trains.

We had a great holiday! Being next to the station was ideal as we love trains. The cottage is smart, clean and well provided with equipment. Some crockery low but as only 2 people no problem. Loved the pictures! Lounge could do with another window but again no problem as only used in evenings. Love the area and there is plenty to see and do. Good places to eat and people friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful week in the porters lodge.

We had a wonderful week in the porters lodge. Watching the weekend steam trains puffing into the station, as we had a coffee in the garden, on the station platform, was just wonderful. We had a great evening on the ale train and the scenery is just wonderful. We were blessed with snowfall half way through the week and the mountains topped in snow, were just so very beautiful. Lovely cottage, so comfy and homely, especially with the log burner. I would so recommend this property as a wonderful, quirky holiday and we will return in the future.

Really well appointed cottage - everything you could need is supplied from kitchen supplies to a sel

Really well appointed cottage - everything you could need is supplied from kitchen supplies to a selection of DVDs to loads of plugs! The only slight issue was that the main kitchen light didn't work so it was a little dark in there and we had to move a couple of lamps around to see to eat at the table in the evening. But only a minor point, otherwise comfy and clean with a brilliant location right next to the train line. Recommended!

The staycation I've had in a very long time.

The staycation I've had in a very long time. The sensory is unbelievable and just beautiful. The cottage it's self is homely and spacious. Lots to do in the surrounding areas walks views etc. I am and would definitely go back and stay at porter's lodge.
