  • Houd je van luieren bij het zwembad met een koude margarita en voel je de warme zon tegen je lichaam? Stel je nu voor dat je wakker wordt met een verse kop biologische koffie uit de bergen van Chiapas, Mexico en naar je eigen terras gaat om de kolibries te bekijken.

    Zwaai uw zorgen weg bij Stingray Villa, waar u zich op een steenworp afstand bevindt van het warme water van het Caribisch gebied en de winkels en restaurants van Cozumel. In je haast naar het uitzicht, mis je misschien het feit dat elk aspect van onze Villa in 2019 werd voltooid. U vindt designkamers, nieuw betegelde badkamers en meer.

    WAAROM DEZE VILLA
    Laten we de redenen tellen: omdat elke kamer uitzicht op het zwembad heeft. Omdat het 3 blokken van het Caribisch gebied is en je overal naartoe kunt lopen zonder een auto nodig te hebben. Omdat flip-flopping naar het Caribisch gebied als de beste wandeling voelt, die je in jaren hebt gemaakt.

    VILLA MET DE COMFORTS VAN THUIS
    De slaapkamer heeft een kingsize bed met boterachtig zacht Egyptisch katoenen beddengoed met 1000 draden waar je na een lange dag in kunt zinken. Er is voldoende kastruimte voor uw spullen en een kluisje. We hebben een eigen badkamer met toiletartikelen en handdoeken. Hierdoor heb je meer ruimte in je koffer! Houd je niet van enorme koffers sjouwen? Er zijn lokale wasserettes die je kleding wassen, drogen en opvouwen voor een paar pesos.

    FAB LOCATIE OP HET EILAND COZUMEL
    Je zit eigenlijk in het hart van dit alles. En met "alles" bedoelen we alles, van prachtige zonsondergangen en prachtige blauwe wateren tot restaurants en nachtclubs in het centrum. Stingray Villa ligt in het centrum van de stad. We zijn ver genoeg weg van alle cruiseschepen om u de echte Cozumel te laten proeven. U kunt zich op lokale markten mengen met de lokale bevolking en genieten van authentieke gerechten.

    Maak je eigen wake wanneer je een jetski huurt of je innerlijke Jacques Cousteau op een van de Technicolor-koraalriffen rond Cozumel channelt. Je wilt het restaurant Le Chef bezoeken en jezelf vullen met de beroemde Lobster Bacon Sandwich, waar slippers praktisch de dresscode zijn.

Great Property in the Middle of Town

I really enjoyed my stay here, the hosts were welcoming and informative and were very flexible around my checkout which was much appreciated! I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to explore Cozumel on foot, it's right near the ferry!

Our favorite place to stay in Cozumel!

Another great stay with Silvia and Greg. Los Alcatraces checks all the boxes for us: in the Centro close to our favorite restaurants, QUIET, safe, easy access to our dive boat by car, rinse tank for dive gear, great hosts. We've already booked our next stay here.

We had a fantastic time with you guys. Your kindness and your good advice on places to see around were very appreciated. We would love to come back and stay with you again. The place was clean, well kept and well furnished. Best coffee we had in Mexico! I will highly recommend you to everyone who wishes to stay home away from home in Cozumel.

Very nice friendly hosts. Nice and quiet side of Centro. A large cleaning tank is a plus for divers. Walking distance (between 5-10 minutes) for many good local restaurants. Few convenience stores within few blocks.

Excellent location, great hosts, very clean room with all necessary amenities.

My stay at this location was a bit over a week and I highly recommended it. Customer service was great - both Sylvia and Greg are great hosts. Room was very clean and had all the amenities I needed (TV, drinking water, small refrigerator, comfortable bed and most importantly air conditioner). Great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Looking forward to returning next year during Christmas holidays.

Sooo Clean

This is a wonderful place to stay. Greg and Silvia are the best hosts. The place was very clean and comfortable. We can not say enough about this place. We enjoyed sitting outside in the morning have coffee. The garden is the perfect place to start the day. The pool was refreshing and clean. You will not be disappointed. We will be back for sure.

Fantastic Location & Space

The room was roomy, clean, safe and had lots of storage space (a plus). We appreciated all the recommendations, from where to rent the car (Isis), best restaurants to eat (LeChef & King Burrito), which dive company to use (Scuba Tony) and the best place to spend the day (Punta Sur). Wonderful place, wonderful people

Quaint adorable little place. Close to the grocery mart as well as the local market. We highly recommend walking the 4 blocks to the local market for an authentic and inexpensive meal with the locals. Silvia and Greg are fabulous hosts and keep to themselves unless you need something. We frequent Cozumel 2-3 times a year as the diving is fantastic, we usually stay at a resort but we opted to try something a little different this trip and are very happy that we did and that we discovered Greg & Silvia’s hacienda. We will definitely be returning to Los Alcatraces.

Wonderful stay

Where do we start .well it all started with a warm welcome at the front gate by Silvia to show us around the property very well kept and exceptionally clean inside the property as well inside the room .the room is very well layout very nice pillows aswell the mattress and the house towels that they provide is better then any hotel that we stayed before.TOP quality all the way this was our 4th trip to cozumel and it was the best by far no question about it .we will no longer stay at any hotel's again. Thank you Greg And Silvia and don't forget Rosie the watch dog does not miss a thing. We can't wait to see you all again soon

Good Place

It was a well-kept, attractive place with two motel-like rooms off a small garden behind the home. Even had a small dipping pool off the garden. It felt very safe and we were warmly welcomed. It is a good 15 minute walk through typical Mexican neighborhood. It is not your resort on the ocean. But if you are looking for a more authentic experience, it fits the bill nicely with both price and accommodation. Only suggestion would be to add a fan to the bathroom.

I absolutely Loved Silvia & Greg's cozy place and beautiful garden & pool! The room décor was cute & cozy, it was completely clean & spotless, having coffee provided was exactly what I needed! & the 2 of them were fantastic hosts! Such great energy & from the moment I met them such a great positive vibe! I will HIGHLY recommend your place to any friends who go there! And I would love to stay again when I return for Ironman Cozumel 70.3 again next year!!! Zero complaints! It couldn't have been better! ♡ :-) Great price for all you need 1km walk to main street! You can walk to restaurants & ferry within 15min.

Better than any all-inclusive!

Greg and Silvia are super awesome!! Highly recommend their place to stay. The bathroom was spotless, and so was the bedroom. They even have a private pool which is so cool. We used their pool, and they also have free coffee. They have free filter water for us too. I’m so glad we chose their place for our five days and four night. They were also super nice. Our plane didn’t leave until 3 pm so they offered that we leave our luggage at their place when we check out at 11. Silvia was also super friendly, she offered us parking for our scooter in the property if we rented one with no charge. We didn’t need the scooter because a lot of the restaurants were within walking distance.

15-minute walk to Mega (the main grocery store), don’t rent a vehicle unless you plan to drive quite a ways (or if you need to drive). We were able to walk to most places. There’s a fantastic snorkel spot right behind the restaurant called Jeanie’s. Wear lots of sunscreens. Always have a water bottle with water in it on hand (stay hydrated). Keep your stuff safe, don’t be afraid to be assertive, don’t be afraid to say no, don’t be overwhelmed, just do your best to relax and enjoy the ocean and the cool shops and awesome culture.

Skip the strip

If you hate the constant hustle of the hotel strip step back a bit and leave it behind. We stayed on the water one night and it was awful. The constant hawking of trinkets- the harassing of junk shop employees. You want to be polite, but after the 100th one you learn to pretend they don't exist- which makes you feel like crap. Skip all that. We parked right in front of our place, ate at restaurants that weren't owned by global conglomerates, and had a peaceful stay.

I have stayed in many rent by owner places on vacation and this was by far the best

The hosts are absolutely fabulous: helpful, friendly, approachable & super kind. We were super early and they accommodated us and late to leave & they understood. They sent us maps, restaurant suggestions, and specific tips on how to get to their place from the airport including on how to avoid tourist traps & scams. Daily cleaning was punctual and thorough. Silvia gave us several tips and helped us with anything we needed: iron & ironing board, she noticed that our rented scooter's tire was low on air and proceeded to fill it with air using her pump. She really took care of us and was very kind and friendly. Absolutely loved our experience. I can't say enough about the location and the hosts. We really do hope we can stay there again in the future.

Beautiful Gem in the Heart of Cozumel

We truly enjoyed our stay with Greg and Silvia. My mother and I stayed for 6 nights. I rented out both rooms so we would each have our own space. The house is very secure, and I felt safe being alone in my own room. Each day we went out for a different adventure. It was easy to grab a taxi and head for the beach or just walk up town and do some shopping. I stayed in Cozumel last summer with my family in a large house on the southern part of the island. It was beautiful, but for me, I enjoyed being in the community of Cozumel. Greg and Silvia were so helpful while I was planning our trip. Whenever I had a question, they were quick to email me back and give advice. I am planning on going back to Cozumel this summer and will be staying here again.

Perfect retreat, close to neighborhood restaurants

We stayed 5 days with Silvia and Greg, who were gracious hosts. Silvia was quick to offer assistance and suggestions when needed. The location is convenient to our favorite restaurants (back in the neighborhoods) and is also easily accessible to La Caleta, where we meet our dive guide. The room was well appointed and the A.C. was efficient even in the heat of the day. It rained quite a bit during our stay so we did not use the pool or the garden area much, but it was well maintained and full of lush plants and flowers. We really appreciated the rinse tank for our dive gear. Location is secure and very quiet, we slept soundly in both the afternoons and nights. Parking is on the street directly across from the gate, we had no issues finding a spot. We will definitely be return customers.

A comfortable stay and a great deal

I really liked this place. It is different from being at a luxury rental, which I stayed at Playa del Carmen prior to here. The location is several blocks away from the ferry area, but an easy walk. I'd like to recommend a nice restaurant off of the main street a few blocks from Los Alcatraz. It's called Chardonnay. Italian and Mexican cuisine. It has nice garden seating. The location is not fancy, but when you are on Cozumel, you don't need it because you want to go out to scuba or to a beach club. And this price is the lowest I've seen. I gave a five star rating because of the value and lack of stress involved because Silvia communicates with you prior to your arrival and because she makes you feel very welcome. The pool right outside your room is absolutely necessary. When you are here, you wake up in the morning, maybe cool off in the pool, go out with your daily leisure, come back to cool off in the pool again, and go out for a nice dinner. Doesn't need to be complicated when you're in Cozumel.

Clean, safe, comfortable and modern.

I traveled to Cozumel for 7 days for vacation. I was very pleased with the warm welcome and hospitality throughout my stay. I am a Marriott and Hilton girl and was not disappointed with the amenities, cleanliness, and comfort of my room. The bathroom was large (bigger than most hotels) and the linens and bed were very comfortable. I decided to stay in this quaint hotel because I wanted to experience the culture of Cozumel, which I was able to do. I was a bit skeptical when I got out of my taxi because the surrounding homes did not resemble what I was used to, however the area is very safe. I traveled alone and walked the streets until late in the night and did not fear for my safety once. I did not have a car for most of my trip, however per Greg's advice I rented a car for $40 to visit the other side of the island which was beautiful. Both Greg and Silvia were very accommodating and gave me great suggestions and recommendations for restaurants and sites to visit. The grocery store, souvenir shops and of course the beach are a 5-10 minute walk. The ferry to Cancun is a 10 minute walk and runs every 30 minutes for about $8 each way. I am glad I chose to stay at Los Alcatraces and highly recommend this property for couples and single travelers.

Very Well Located in San Miguel

The room was very nice and freshly painted with attractive tile work in the bathroom. It was described as an "apartment" on the VRBO listing but it is more like a hotel room and has no cooking facilities but has a small refrigerator. I'd actually give this 4 1/2 stars but it's not an option. The grounds are extremely well-maintained and the property has a lovely appearance. Greg and Silvia were very friendly with lots of good tips and Silvia went above and beyond when my girlfriend had a possibly-dive-related ear problem and arranged to have her see the dive medicine specialist which she saw within an hour of Silvia's phone call. If you walk down the street just to the South you will end up right next to the MEGA store and if you walk down the street just to the North you will end up downtown near the ferry dock. There are many places to eat and mini-stores within a block or two but we ended up eating in town most of the time. The only negatives I can think of is that the bed felt like it was higher in the middle and if I laid on my right side I felt like I was going to roll off onto the floor. The other thing is that you have to read the fine print to discover that smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property so you have to unlock the front gate and go out to the sidewalk if you want to have a cigarette. I think this should be disclosed on the main page because from my experience it is not the norm in Mexico. Other places I have stayed at have very few smoking restrictions such as not inside the buildings or at the reception window etc. Much of the surrounding neighborhood appears to be being renovated so tip generously and help the local economy. We always felt safe except perhaps when crossing the streets at corners ;) It was easy to get a taxi on either of the two adjoining streets heading to town with luggage but otherwise it's only about a 10-15 minute walk to a grocery store or shopping with many other options along the way. Bottom line: if you are not the big resort type and are a non-smoker this might be the ideal place for you to stay in San Miguel. Los Alcatraces is diver friendly with a rinse tank and a strong clothesline to dry wetsuits etc. Tips: You can get pesos from the Banamex ATM machine at either the MEGA store or the Chedraui store (about one block South of MEGA). I suggest always paying with pesos because practically everything is cheaper that way. Some prices go down when the cruise ships leave.
