Martha's Shore Cottage

  • Een origineel 18e-eeuws vissershuisje met een prachtig uitzicht over het Solway-estuarium met houtkachel en rolstoeltoegang ..
    Deze vrijstaande vakantiehuizen met één verdieping hebben een rustige ligging met een panoramisch uitzicht over het landschap naar de Nith Estuary. Ze hebben een eigen tuin en zijn ingericht en uitgerust volgens de '4 Star'-norm van de STB. Conheath Gatelodge is een traditioneel Georgiaans huisje met veel originele kenmerken, terwijl Martha's Shore Cottage een origineel vissershuisje was daterend uit 1700 - generaties van Martha's artistieke familie hier woonde en haar vader was de stenen metselaar voor het landgoed, en snijd steen voor de boerderij van de eigenaar. Er zijn prachtige wandelingen langs de rivier vanaf de deur met overvloedige vogels en dieren in het wild om te zien. Er zijn veel rustige wegen, ideaal om te fietsen, en uitstekende wilde moerasmoerassen rond Caerlaverock Castle, op 3 mijl afstand. Solway Firth is gemakkelijk bereikbaar. Dumfries, 3 mijl, heeft goede winkels, restaurants, bioscoop en sportfaciliteiten. Zandstranden, schilderachtige vissersdorpjes, kastelen en natuurreservaten zijn gemakkelijk te bereiken. Shop / P. O. en goede dorpscafe ½ mijl .. Een huisje met een prachtig uitzicht over de monding van de Solway vanaf een kant. Opgang naar ingang. Grote woonkamer met houtkachel en openslaande deuren naar de tuin. Goed uitgeruste keuken / eetkamer. Nut. Twee slaapkamers, een met en-suite badkamer met douche en toilet en een met en-suite natte ruimte en toilet uitgerust voor gehandicapten. This was our second holiday at Martha's Shore Cottage.

This was our second holiday at Martha's Shore Cottage. We chose it partly because we knew that it was entirely suitable for my wife, who is a wheelchair user, and our dog, who we could let wander around the garden without worrying that she would get through the fence, and partly because of the wonderful views from the cottage. Great cottage in a fantastic location on the banks of the river Nith.

Great cottage in a fantastic location on the banks of the river Nith. Lovely views and plenty of bird life on the river. Even saw the otters. Cottage is large and comfortable. The dog loved the garden - which is very secure. I would return.

A return visit for us having stayed last year.

A return visit for us having stayed last year. A LOVELY cottage which ticks all the boxes for us and that includes our dog who loves it. A secure garden is a must for any cottage we stay in and this one is very secure. Looking out of the French door over the river and hills opposite is a delight with numerous birds, the evening exodus of gulls returning to the open sea grabs our attention every night. Lucky this year with the weather resulting in stunning sunsets. Looking forward to returning again.

Excellent (and unusual) to find a cottage with proper accommodation for those with limited mobility. The owner obviously understands what this really means. Thanks, especially for supportive chairs with arms as well as a comfortable sofa. The cottage is suitable and attractive to younger, more active members of the family but does not exclude the older members. Also, good to have an ever-changing bird sanctuary outside the kitchen window!

We absolutely adored this cottage.

We absolutely adored this cottage. It’s size was ideal and with extra wide doorways that made it very easy to get around with a wheelchair. It is beautifully kept and well equipped for all our needs. It’s location is second to none, being able to watch river life come and go is wonderfully relaxing. I’ll be very happy to recommend this cottage, and I’d be quite happy to go back sometime soon 10/10

Fantastic location.
