'We typically stay here when we visit because we go in the off season and there are a very limited number of hotels that stay open in the off season. Unfortunately, the mattresses have not been replaced in far too long! They’re soft, lumpy and incredibly uncomfortable. My husband and I have both had back surgeries so we have a firm mattress at home. These are about as far from firm as you can get. It’s like trying to sleep on a lumpy marshmallow.

'We had a wonderful week at The Velvet Crab. Tara and the Heart of the Cape crew were attentive to any message we sent and the house was a perfect location to explore the outer cape. We loved how close we were to both the bay and ocean beaches and the whole family, dog included, loved lounging at the pond’s edge. We’re sorry to have to leave!'

'The property turned out to be just as showed in the pictures. We found it clean with supplies, even though the list indicated that there will none (or very few).
The location was perfect. Minutes walk from Herring Pond, 5 minutes drive (or walk) to First Encounter, and close to Orleans and Eastham.
We will try to return next year!'

'Lovely conveniently located home with beautiful shaded yard and generous deck with well chosen furniture. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding and sheets were a lovely quality.We all walked the beech daily and enjoyed Nauset beach in the afternoons. Rock Harbor and Capt’n Cass offered the very best seafood, as well as Sir Cricket on Route 6a. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!'
