However as we returned after an evening out the stench in the air from a soil, composting, wastewater and recycling treatment plant was overwhelming. I there is a solution to this as Chemainus is a charming town and the Cottage and Castle was exceptional! '

'Easy to reach, park, access……nice, clean and spacious room One remark, dogs allowed in the hotel which could mean having a dog nearby that barks and whines. With no staff at the hotel (reception / security) other guests seem to think it’s okay to scream shout and have a party till early morning, so for a good night rest I would think twice, which is a shame considering my opening statement '

'Oh boy...I greatly dislike writing negative reviews. While Chemainus is adorable, the location is fantastic and the exterior is a dream...this aint it. Mouldy drapes, a number of amenities were broken (electric fireplace, mouldy fridge), no wifi, questionably clean bedsheets. And (I have photos as proof) a white substance residue left on the counter next to the bed. I will say that the indoor jet tub was amazing! I swear I heard a cough below us at one point and noticed a little door that looked...

'The lodge was located in a unique place, secluded in a woody area with a lovely garden. It has a large deck creating possibilities for a lovely morning breakfast, reading a book, enjoying the view of the garden or a long dinner in the evening (Summer time of course)'

'Staff and cleanliness were fantastic. They actually had a nice place to get water coffee tea and treats at all times which was so lovely. Also had a lounge to have Sherry with other guests from 5-7. Locations was great little extras they supplied was appreciated. Nice stay. The only thing I would say is you can hear other guests although everyone was respectful. Would definitely look at staying there again. Sherry'
