Pros: "Early check-in" at 1pm (not 4 bc "cleaners had already been there"). Supposedly. Cons: From the time we got in, we had issues with a dirty home. Sand all over the top of kids’ bunkbeds, hair in showers (walls etc) & on floor. At 5pm, a few want naps. Went to pull the covers back and there was hair & sand all in the sheets & makeup (?) on the pillow. I tried to take pics, but it's hard to take pics of white sand on white sheets, along with hairs (head & obvi non-head) in the sheets. Immediately call owners, bc this is gross-sent them the few photos I’d taken. No answer, but responds via text. She eventually offers to send us some sheets. It's 6:30 pm. Okay, I'll put the new sheets on the bed. Also offers for cleaners to clean the bathrooms. I decline bc when cleaner finally arrives at 7:15-30pm (Lived 30-40+ min away), we're trying to eat dinner w/ kids. (I’d already cleaned shower & swept house). As the week progressed, we found more. 2 pairs of women’s underwear under beds in diff’t rooms (used & new). Plastic bottles under beds & driveway. FLOSS in the sheets of a bed. Nails & screws in the parking area caused a flat tire. We even found what we thought was wine stains on the bed spread/comforter of a bed. It was dark red spots- size of a quarter or less. It blended in with the comforter's floral pattern, so it wasn't noticed until day 2.
We didn’t take pics of anything else after the sheets were brought. We’re 30 min away from anything; it's not like we can go far for them to clean the home “again” or complain to owners who don't live w/in 2 hrs drive (or answer the phone). Fast fwd to getting our deposit back. The owner decides to retain $xxx bc of “blood” on the comforter-. Yes, the one we thought might* be red wine stains. Owner claims it’s a brand new comforter out of the package. She also claimed the home was cleaned before got there. Despite the fact that she knew the house was a mess when we arrived, and that she even had someone bring new sheets – she said that w/o add’l photos, she REFUSED to give us $xxx back OR at least refund the cleaning fee we paid ($xxx). Can’t believe the audacity. Choosing not to spend our energy taking photos of every dirty thing thru our wk cost us a $xxx when we clearly established there were issues when we first arrived. Bed & bath doors don’t lock & there’s a sign saying “check if dishes are clean before using, bc the cleaners won’t”. In 10+ years never left a bad review or had a deposit withheld
