Booked a stay at Cameo Suites in Halifax through Expedia and had a serious issue with room access and safety.
When we arrived around 6 PM and entered our assigned room using the provided door code, we found another group already inside with their belongings. They showed us they also had a booking and a working code for the same room.
We contacted the property immediately. The manager explained that door codes are sent out in advance and confirmed that codes are NOT CHANGED between guests, meaning someone arriving on the wrong date may still be able to access a room.
Regardless of how the booking mix-up occurred, the system allowed two unrelated parties to enter the same room. That is a significant privacy and security concern. My family works in the hospitality business and owns multiple properties, not changing codes between guests is unacceptable. I will also note that there is another review in the last 6 months that states the same thing happened to them.
We did receive a refund, but the explanation did not address the underlying issue with access control.
I would strongly recommend the property review how room access is managed, as this is not what most guests would expect from a hotel or accommodation.
