The property was within easy walking distance to the Halls Gap shops and restaurants. It was well appointed and comfortable. We had kangaroos grazing in the back yard and next door each evening.

Absolutely wonderful stay in a beautiful location.
The property itself is truly great and we would stay there again without hesitation. Just a note to the owners and those intending to stay there, it would be nice to have some soap for the shower and the toilet basin. Otherwise, perfect in every way.

We loved our four-night stay at Amaroo Retreat. The house had everything we needed and is just a short stroll from Halls Gap cafes, restaurants and Info Centre. The mountain backdrop and nearby walks make Halls Gap and Gariwerd a beautiful destination.

As Good As ever
Back to this property after five years and it’s still terrific. The weather this time was completely different (12 deg not 35 deg) but this property is well-equipped to handle any conditions. It’s also nicely appointed, clean, quiet, the kitchen has everything you could require, beds are comfortable, and the property is brilliantly located. The welcome gift, as others have mentioned, is a nice touch. Highly recommended.

An Extremely Uncomfortable Stay
I booked the property for 4 nights on a work trip and only stayed 1 night which was very uncomfortable due to it being extremely cold in the bedroom and being unable to sleep for long as a result. There were no spare blankets or a portable heater or electric blanket in the room. There was only one heater on the premises located in the loungeroom and with it on full it was still very cold even in the adjoining kitchen and much colder in the other rooms. I arrived at 10pm and was being picked up at 7am to go to work, so contacted the property manager via email in the early hours of the morning to notify them of the situation and let them know that I wanted to cancel the remaining 3 nights of my stay due to lack of heating and adequate bedding & find alternative accommodation that was warmer & habitable. Their response when I requested a refund due to how I'd been unable to sleep due to the cold was extremely brusque to the point of rudeness, & accused me of trying to intimidate them into refunding me for the remaining 3 nights. I presume they meant intimidate although they said I tried to 'intimate' them and later accused me of blackmail & being a liar when I contacted Stayz about the issues I'd had with the property. I was extremely polite & courteous in my communication with them and with Stayz and described in very clear, concise terms what a terrible night I'd had and why. I've stayed in accommodation in many parts of the world and lived in Montreal in Canada for a couple of winters and I've never been as cold at night as I was in this property. I think the description of the property as offering luxury is inaccurate given that basic warmth is essential and not a luxury. Even though it was advertised that shampoo was provided there was none in the bathroom. I've been working in regional Victoria for the last 8 weeks for Tourism Australia and have stayed in a variety of types of accommodation; even the most humble motel rooms had heaters that warmed the room & shampoo in the bathroom and most had electric blankets which I don't consider necessary if the room is heated well enough.

Amazing Relaxing Retreat
Amazing relaxing retreat in the heart of halls gap. Tamara and Carl thank you for an amazing property. We come to the Grampians every Easter but this time was extra special being able to have a bath after a long day out. The house was so clean with nice finishes and a welcoming feeling. Location is top. Don't want to rave too much for fear this will be booked out next time we come! Work all year and I felt stressed before going now so relaxed and grateful for our time there. Wish we could stay longer. Grampians is healing land and this house is definitely a gem retreat. Thanks again x

Perfect location a very short walk from the shops, but still feels quiet and secluded nestled amongst trees and greenery. The property is set up beautifully with all basic needs anticipated and met (including a well-equipped kitchen with knives that are actually sharp!), and is very well maintained and very clean. Special mention for the comfy beds and fantastic shower. We will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely modern house. Comfy beds, fantastic shower, comfy couch. The large windows are nice. Good for spotting kangaroos. Very convenient location. We walked to pubs, restaurants etc. We took our own wifi and a Google Chromecast to catch up on a bit of tv at night. Would definitely stay there again.

We had an excellent stay in this small but gorgeous property. The location is extremely central (cafes and coffee shops 5 minute walk), the garden is magical, the beds are super comfy, the bath is amazing, the outdoor entertainment areas front and back are perfect. The host Tamara is hands down the most accommodating, patient, friendly and helpful host we have ever come across. Tamara went out of her way to do anything and everything she possibly could to help or enhance our stay and we were extremely grateful. We will definitely stay there again. A real gem !!

Immaculate modern house, ideal position, close to town while tucked away in a quiet street. We walked everyday to eat out, no stress looking for parking during busy times. One of the best holiday stays ever
The property is just beautiful. We have previously stayed in another property owned by Tamara and Carl and we have always been extremely happy. The property is more than what we expected - everything you need for a short stay and this one is so close to everything. We loved the spa, the outdoor fireplace, even an undercover Weber with water and electricity and the best of course, is the wildlife everywhere. We will be back - thank you for sharing this amazing place and for the special touch with chocolates and bubbly.
