Good Times

Very nice property, we had a very nice time. The tips in the summary sheet were very good. There were gorgeous sunsets on the beach. Only challenge was the turn in for the driveway comes quick and gravel going up the first part was a bit loose. We would definitely go back again

Another wonderful week in Michigan
This is our third year at Mike’s cottage and it’s always a pleasure to be here. It feels like home now. My favorite time is sitting on our “treehouse” deck and listening to the waves of beautiful Lake Michigan.

Fantastic location
Our family had an amazing vacation week at this property. The views of Lake Michigan were stunning and the house is perfectly set up to enjoy them. The furniture was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and everything was very clean. The multiple levels and indoor/outdoor spaces made the home feel very spacious. Anything we might have wanted on a vacation was already there: tons of games, bikes, kayaks, beach chairs, puzzles. Communication with the owner was very easy but minimally needed as he supplies you with the most comprehensive guide to the home and the surrounding area I’ve ever received with a rental property. It was easily the best rental experience I’ve had.

Lovely views!
We enjoyed our time at this house in Cross Village! Great views and loved the sounds of Lake Michigan. Beautiful private, wooded lot with great fire pit for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. The beach area was right across from the street from the house and offered some of the best beach walks and sunset views we have found in Michigan. We didn’t mind the walk up the stairs/steep driveway- may be difficult for those with mobility issues. The house was a bit more rustic. The wooded lot was gorgeous but did create a bit of mess with sap on the outdoor decks and furniture. We were able to explore some awesome spots - Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Mackinaw Island. The sand dunes climb up the road was great fun.

Cori and family were tremendous guests! I I apologize for the dripping sap making a mess on the deck. This is now the second summer in the eleven years that we have owned the cottage that sap has dripped down on the deck. Unforuntately there is nothing we can do to prevent it. However, we will be stripping and restaining the deck this fall along with the planned replacement of all patio furniture.

Relaxing
We really enjoyed staying at the “treehouse.” Great location to truly enjoy northern Michigan. 30 mins or less to Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinac City and Island. Legs Inn is 2 mins down the road. Great food and so fun! Property had a nice beach, be sure to bring some water shoes - it gets rocky about 20 feet out. Shoes made all the difference. Pretty cool to be able to go out 100 yards in Lake Michigan. Mike has just about everything you need and is very prompt with communication. Great spot for a wonderful family vacation. Thanks Mike!

Perfect Cross Village Getaway!
We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was clean, fully stocked, and just beautiful! Communication with the owner was top notch and I’d say it was above the norm. The driveway is no joke and stairs are no joke, but I think that added to its charm! Highly recommend!

This was our second visit!!
We love this place, so close to the beach which we mostly had to ourselves. We could paddle board easily and walk the beach for miles. We enjoyed the campfires. We enjoyed A night out at Legendary Legs Inn and The house has everything we needed. Mike was very responsive when we had questions. We we’re so happy to be able to have our dog with us too!!

Maybe we had unrealistic expectations
This property has so many glowing reviews. Somehow I am missing its virtues. PROS: 3-season room for space and seating, firepit, gas grill, outdoor patio/deck, great internet, downstairs bunk room and bath, daylight in the bedrooms. CONS: It was more rustic and dated than I was anticipating from the photos, which are not completely up-to-date. Kitchen/dining is quite dim and dimly lit. The inside stairs are steep and slippery, and the decorative handrail does not feel sturdy. There was a lot of street noise from motorcycles and barking dogs. The beds were rock hard and uncomfortable. The beach, the main reason we booked this property, was accessed by walking through someone's yard. The lake view in June is almost non-existent due to foliage. Before we arrived, the dryer was out of commission and the owner was replacing the unit. The upstairs cold water valve in the shower stopped working. The owner's addressing the issues was prompt, but we left before they were actually fixed. We were tired and uncomfortable. This just didn't meet our expectations.

Great, relaxing house that made you feel like you were in a treehouse. Loved sitting on the front deck looking at the water. House was clean and had everything we needed. Hosts gave great communication and tips. Highly recommend!

This is our second time staying at this property. We came back because it’s so worth coming back to. The place is set up beautifully steps from the beach, and the owners are very responsive and welcoming. The area is beautiful and so much access to Lake Michigan. We will be back again.

Long Fall Weekend
We were very pleased with our stay. The location of the cabin is fairly remote so if you’re used to being around the corner from Starbucks this might not be your cup of tea. This was a great place to disconnect and enjoy a beautiful part of the country during peak Fall. The owner is very responsive (storms during our stay caused us to lose power) and goes out of his way to ensure your time away is pleasurable.

Wonderful Property on Lake Michigan
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay for three nights on Lake Michigan. Our stay was the weekend after Labor Day. The first day we were able walk the beach with our golden retriever for 3-4 miles of sandy beach and saw maybe 3 people. The next couple of days it rained but it's a very enjoyable and relaxing house with balconies with views of the lake. The only tough part of our stay was unloading and loading the car. Mike lets you know the house is up a hill and if you don't have 4WD vehicle you'll have to park below the house which means you'll be walking up or down a hill or stairs with your stuff. There is a wagon that can help with that though. The house is only about 30 minutes from Mackinaw City and we had a really relaxing and enjoyable stay and would certainly do it again. Best Family Togetherness Vacation!
We loved everything about our stay! Great selection of games! We all learned how to play Settlers of Catan! The beach was perfect , private with a shady spot for our dog. Everything we needed was available from kitchen to laundry to linens. Our host was very responsive to our questions and gave great added tidbits about our location.

Will rent again!
We had a fabulous time! The owners communication was great and very helpful. The house had everything we needed, well equipped kitchen and all the beach chairs were a bonus. It is mentioned in the listing, but you REALLY do need 4WD to get to the top of the driveway. We had two vehicles and the Chevy Traverse had to stay on the lower level. The "running start" is also needed after a heavy rain. Even will all the steps and steep hill we will return. The location is perfect for dogs as there is plenty of room to sniff and explore out the back of the property. We look forward to a future visit.

Pure Michigan!
This cottage is what Michigan is all about. Close enough to the lake to hear the waves, a beautiful view from both decks. We walked across the street to watch the sunset most nights. There's a cozy fire for chilly days. It’s close to Emmet County,s great trails and Sturgeon Bay. You will need a 4WD car and be able to climb stairs.

Beautiful Countryside
In all my years as a Michigander, as well as a regular visitor of Mackinac City, I'm sorry to say that I had never ventured over to Cross Village. My goal for this trip was to find a house that was close to the bridge while still being on the Lake Michigan coast. I currently have a seventeen year-old foreign exchange daughter and I wanted to show her what the Great Lakes look like. This place did not fail to impress us on all counts. The view was terrific, the house was just what we needed to unwind between our sightseeing trips, and we had more than everything that we needed. The place does sit atop a hillside bluff, and unless you have a 4wd, you're going to be climbing more than a few stairs to get up there, but in my opinion, it made it so much more beautiful. The cottage was secluded enough to give us our space from neighbors, and while our cell service was questionable at best, Mr. Epperly has a land line phone and high-speed internet, giving us any amenities that we might need in that department. He was also quick to answer text or phone messages, and he went out of his way to encourage me to contact him if anything was needed. I hope he knows that I treated his home with more respect than I would my own, and I made sure that my four children did as well. My wife and I will definitely keep this place in mind for the future should we find ourselves in need of lodging up that way again, and we usually do.

Scenic Beauty
This Vrbo listing is one of the best we have ever been, and pet friendly to boot. The calm, privacy, and views are unbeatable. Lake MI is steps away.The views and sounds of the lake are amazing, this property is a must. The inside decor is simple, inviting, and clean. The owners have thought of everything and leave detailed information for the home as well as the area. Take advantage of all the suggestions. There are two decks that both offer nice furniture to eat by or just enjoy the views of the lake. The back of the house offers views of the wooded forest beauty with no other house to impede the view. The owners responded promptly to any questions we had. It was a peaceful getaway. Don’t forget to hit all the other walking beaches the area has to offer. We will be back! Keep in mind the elevation that offers the view, also means a steep driveway, a 4 wheel drive is recommended. Thanks so much for the great stay.

The Perfect Getaway
In all of my travels I have never stayed at a property with truly comfortable furniture. Cross Village has all the comforts of home, and beautiful bedrooms as well. The elevation is spectacular and allows you to see beautiful Lake Michigan. Across the street from the property is Lake Michigan access and it's truly breathtaking. You need not worry about bringing bikes and/or kayaks because they're already there. During your stay, drive through the breathtaking tunnel of trees or visit Harbor Springs. Clean, beautiful, peaceful getaway! Mike the host was most gracious.

A quiet reprieve
Updated classic cabin located near Cross Village. Quiet and distant enough from neighbors without feeling totally isolated. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan sunset AND sunrise! We stayed for 3 nights during a ski trip and slept 6 comfortably. Awesome deal, just make sure you’ve got good tires in the winter to reach the parking spot!

Fantastic Winter Get A Way!
Awesome property and location. Very comfortable and homey. The owners thought of everything to make this rental a home away from home. Snowshoeing just steps out the door, skiing close by, and the Blue Ice in Mackinac City on the Straits of Mackinac was breathtaking! Enjoyed indoor fires, movies, games, and meals indoors. Despite the cold temperatures we still enjoyed drinks on the third floor deck overlooking Lake Michigan. We woke up to a dead battery on Monday morning and wandered a couple doors away to get help from the neighbor. He was a very kind elderly man who nicely asked, “ are you kids doing OK in this cold weather?” He gave us a chuckle. He came right over in his truck and gave us a jump start and we were off to the slopes! We absolutely loved our stay and will be back!

Comfortable, peaceful and tranquil
We were looking for a cozy getaway “up north” and this place fit the bill. Feels more like a true cottage/cabin than a suburban home. The setting is beautiful and we were able to watch eagles circling overhead and out in the hunt in the mornings. Very quiet for our winter visit, and we enjoyed the surrounding woods. In order to maximize your stay, be sure to bring your must-have foods on your way in. There wasn’t anything open when we arrived around 9pm, so we had to take a long drive to the closest Meijer. Close enough to Nub’s Nob and Boyne Highlands and an hour away from Boyne Mountain. We were fine with the stairs leading up to the door. Do it twice in a row and you’ve got yourself a nice workout! Very comfortable and cozy. You can’t go wrong with this rustic gem.

5 great days in January staying staying at this cozy cabin with fabulous view of Lake Michigan. Easy access to beach, Nubs Nob for skiing, parks to hike. Comfy beds, lots of great spaces with plenty of room, well appointed and stocked. we loved the easy chair by the wood burning fireplace!!! bummed that given the cold weather we couldn't enjoy the outside decks and wonderful sun porch, hopefully next time. great collection of board games,. classic movies too. owners were super easy to connect with, incredibly responsive . This Cross Village haven is fantastic!
The property is exactly how it's pictured - and more. One note about it: you have to be able to walk up a steep hill in order to get into the house. Communal and bedroom spaces are roomy and comfortable. There are multiple patios. It was clean and well furnished, including kitchen equipment. When we were there, during a storm, we lost power for three hours. There were plenty of lanterns and a wood burning stove that made it a fun three hours! The property owner stayed in communication with us during the power outage. The property owner is friendly and responsive. The location is spectacular, right across the street from the beach and Lake Michigan. It's located on M119, Tunnel of Trees, which is gorgeous. We found a few great hiking trails within walking distance. All in all, we loved our stay here and highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place that's priced right, in a great location, and is owned by a responsive property owner.
