The Waterman was a lovely place to stay. The interior was very well designed, beautiful and dpacious. We were made to feel very welcome. The area is superb.

Terrific location, clean, and comfortable. No issues with the booking or communication with property management. A bit noisy on Friday & Saturday nights, but that’s to be expected based on location being around pubs/bars/restaurants. Didn’t bother me as I wanted to be centrally located in walking distance to venues.

Well positioned- right in Salamanca Square, Waterman’s has the potential to be a 10/10 when new management completes the refresh. Management very friendly and responsive during stay. Very basic kitchen/ cooking supplies provided. Suggest reconsidering staying here if ability to cook meals is important during your stay. Great bath but cleanliness could be improved. Note: check with management if works are occurring during your stay.

Hair in the bathtub and toilet. Very thick dust coating all surfaces. Mould in bathroom. Excessively noisey to early hours of morning as rear rooms face alley bar. Front rooms no better as they are above pub. No lift. No air conditioning. No confirmation email sent of booking. Received text day of booking 2 hours prior to check in. No staff at property /onsite. Vast difference to moss hotel next door. Would not rebook at waterman.

Great location but parking is a bit of an issue for long stay ( not the hotel issue just an fyi). The room “Collins” was tired and could do wit a deep clean. There was a previous visitor old sock on the floor, not all lights worked.

Charming historic building. Very spacious and comfortable. Easy to self check-in. I'd recommend using the fan for air circulation. Shower tap was broken and not intuitive to use but we figured it out.

Perfect location for anything you want to do in Hobart, lovely old warehouse refurbished as apartments. Easy check-in process. Couple little issues with lights not working / poor lighting, no air-conditioning but opening window resolved that. Advised they are about undertake renovations that will solve those problems. Would stay there again.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay due to no air conditioning. Unfortunately, being a heritage building, we are not permitted to install air conditioning and as we have only recently purchased the Hotel, we have only started looking for suitable alternatives as stated in the room's compendium. 'No air conditioning' is listed on our website and would kindly suggest looking for these details when booking your next hotel to avoid an unhappy stay.

Great location but parking offsite is a real hassle honestly. Room was clean but warm with no air conditioning. Bathtub is luxurious but very high and slippery to get out of. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

What an absolutely beautiful property! The room was lovely, and so close to everything. The owner was really helpful as well. My only criticisms are that the room was very hot. There was a fan, and we could open the windows but as there was no fly screen I found that we had a few bugs come in overnight. The bath tap also didn't work. That wasn't really a problem though as we filled the bath with the shower faucet. Overall, I loved this place and will stay again. Thank you.

Recently under new management, Waterman’s is in the process of receiving some little upgrades. It’s a heritage building so there are really NO accessibility features; expect steps (lug your baggage) and some awkward antique features. In exchange, a ton of character and friendly boutique hospitality & service. We would stay here again and look forward to seeing the hotel improved over the coming year.

A must to stay at the Waterman
The Waterman was so beautiful. The manager went above an beyond for us. It was great to step out to Salamanca. The location is pefect. The only negative was the music coming from the pub on Saturday night but apart from that we couldn't fault it. Thanks to the manager. Your amazing.

Lovely building/ modern spaces and very good customer service. Incredibly convenient location and enjoyed live music wafting up from pub next door. Unique place to stay, modern and clean. However, not a good space for summer/ runs of warm days- lots of thermal mass and no AC. Plug in fan has a short cord so difficult to position over the bed. Difficult to open windows due to heavy glass panels, and trade off is between heat and noise from street/ pub next door. Bed is very soft with no lumbar support. Very limited sleep/ uncomfortable night mostly due to heat. Soap dispenser was empty and one UHT container open/ partly used. Would recommend for a cozy winter stay or during a run of cooler summer weather.

We needed somewhere within walking distance of a function, and this fitted the bill. Anticipated parking problems were easily solved. Surprisingly well-insulated from the noise of Friday-night-Salamanca.

Waterman’s hotel is in the heart of Salamanca. The service was great from one particular gentleman. Appeared quite modern and nice. Although, we were located on the second floor and unfortunately there is no other way to access the rooms other than the stairs. The walls are very thin between rooms, that we could hear the guests beside us as clear as day. I definitely think the room should come with some sort of information booklet regarding the room/parking as well. The room needs a bit of love for sure. Also wouldn’t suggest someone unsteady on their feet to stay here, only because of the stairs and having to step into the bathtub to have a shower. We also could not figure out the button that makes the water come out from the tap and not the shower head to fill the bath, but after reading other reviews I assume it might not work. Overall was a good stay for a night. Not sure if we would stay again. Would recommend to a friend that might be into the nightlife

Yianni one of the owners was super helpful and apologetic for a few issues as they had only taken over the property a few weeks before. Love the character and history of the place and I hope they don't make the mistake of covering the beams.
