Great house on the water
This was one of the best places weve ever stayed, especially for the price. Its directly on a canal that was full of catfish, mullet, pinfish and snook. We caught plenty quickly with the kids and were able to relax under the gazebo in the shade. Rooms upstairs have a lower ceiling, but fine for adults and especially kids. The home was well furnished and had fishing poles, a kayak with life vests, condiments board games and more. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit family.

Our stay was wonderful. It was relaxing and the fishing was good. Caught some blue crab right off the dock along with other fish. Our host was great and she communicated with us efficiently. We will definitely stay here again.

Relaxing and quiet
We enjoyed our stay. The location is great. It's quiet and beautiful. Sitting outside by the water was the perfect beginning and end to each day. It's 30 minutes to Tarpon Springs and there are many 15-25 min. drives to beaches. It is Florida, on the water, so you will see bugs. One shower was not functional and the gas grill wasn't functional but other than that, it was great.

We had a wonderful stay here for Memorial Day weekend. The place was very clean, smelled wonderful and had a great backyard with canal and dock. There were fishing poles to fish, Kayaks, and Bikes. The only negative I would say is that the beds are like sleeping on plywood. My 76-year-old father and I had to sleep on the couches for our visit. Other than that, it was an amazing place to stay and a great trip. I would stay again.

Great Stay, Great Location
Stayed for two weeks and the house was fantastic. It had everything you’d need for your stay! The house was very clean and comfy. The smart TV was great so I could keep up on my shows. The kayaks and bikes were a fun bonus that were definitely utilized. The owner was so kind and easy to communicate with. The neighborhood and neighbors were lovely.

50th anniversary stay
Lots of things that were advertised were not there. Outside and tiki shower were very unkept. Also deck was collapsing. Told owner and he said it would be fixed. We were there for 1 month and no one fixed it. Screen was missing on gazebo. Pictures on the ad looked like old ones. No pet door for the dogs to use or fenced in yard. First aid kit was empty, no laundry soap, furniture was dirty, vacumn did not work, one shower head did not work properly(no hot water), hot water in kitchen was only warm, cupboards had old, opened food, had a few cockroaches, no spectrum tv or DVD player, no popcorn popper, very few cleaning products and towels. Pans were dirty and no items to use for baking in the oven. Upstairs bathroom had a bad odor, air conditioner units filters were never cleaned. Outside grill was filthy and full of grease. Parrot room had a strong dog odor. Closets and cabinets had lots of items just thrown in them. They were a mess. We were very disappointed in the rental. Would not rent again or recommend it. The property is rundown needs a deep cleaning and freshening up.

It’s a shame that you had this much negative on our property as we know this is a not a new home and we provide much more then a lot of others do and are proud of how many others really enjoy the home and what we provide. The deck was repaired after you left because my husband did not want to disturb you during your stay. The gazebo is not the one pictured as the other one was taken away by a storm and we built this one to provide shade and is much sturdier. Perhaps you should have just booked a hotel instead and then you may appreciate more of what amenities not provided and more appreciative of what we have offered to so many in this home.

Kayaking Paradise
My husband and I stayed at this property for a few days of kayaking, and it was THE BEST location for getting to the Gulf! We had everything we needed and more to relax in the house and property as well. The hosts went above and beyond in what they have available for guests. I highly recommend this property!

We stayed at this property for 90 nights and had plenty of room to spread out with my office, my husbands office and the many guests that came to visit us. All the beds were comfortable and the linens very nice. The backyard we enjoyed the most in the morning having coffee and in the evening during cocktail time. The birds were so entertaining from the herons to the peacocks.; we also enjoyed a few visits from dolphins and manatee. We have a great video of a dolphin visit while our granddaughter was there - it really was a magical experience that we were able to capture on our phones. Fishing off the floating dock was a hoot and we even caught some blue crabs. The view across the canal is very pleasing and the neighborhood is friendly and nice. We took advantage of the kayaks and went to Hudson Bay and Weeki Wachee Springs (our favorite place to kayak and saw so many manatee). We also ventured to Hernando Beach area and enjoyed exploring that area too. The location of the house is perfect for day trips to the Clearwater and Tampa area. The owners were so easy to communicate with and very attentive to any problem that arose. I would highly recommend this house if you are not looking for a 5 star accommodation. The price point allows you a large house, super location and a wonderful backyard. We loved staying here.

We loved this house. We had everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving dinner and plenty of space for everyone to eat together. This house was pup friendly and our little puppy ran all over the yard and on the deck. She loved it! We had coffee under the gazebo in the back yard over looking the canal while the kids fished off the dock. There were also kayaks and the kids used them down the canal. Store was close for shopping. Boat rental and bait shop close by too. And Connie was so helpful. We will defanetly stay here again!

Quiet, roomy and comfortable place to get away
We live about an hour away and were looking for a nice quiet place for a staycation. This place was perfect. Lots of room, stocked kitchen that made it easy to prep meals, comfortable furniture, great wifi and lots of little extras. We used the gas grill, enjoyed some of the games, watched movies and enjoyed the back yard. Owner checked on us a couple times to make sure we had everything we needed which was nice. The property is not new and pristine but rather homey and warm, just perfect for us! We will use this location again in the future, if needed!

We had an overall great stay. Adorable house and would go back. The only issues was us not understanding the tv but they came over and helped as soon as we called. The other issue we had was our check in time. Connie was at work so when we arrived we didn’t have the key or code or anything and we was stuck outside in tge heat for almost an hour or more. We had to ask the neighbors for where Connie lived and he helped us find them. Her husband was very kind and felt pretty bad about it when we finally found there home and he gave us the code. But overall. Great trip

Everything was great. Well stocked kitchen. The kayaks and bikes were definitely nice to have. The owners are literally just a few minutes away and got back to us very quickly if they didn’t answer immediately. We only had a couple questions anyway. One of the TVs stopped working, which wasn’t a big deal to us, but they were very quick to bring in another and swapped it out. I would definitely stay there again and definitely recommend it.

Kids fished the entire time!
This was an amazing trip! The waterway, literally out the back door was fabulous! We were 3 families(my parent, my husband and I and our 2 children and my brother, his wife and their 3 children.) The kids fished in the back dock the entire time we stayed! It is an older house but there was plenty of space and the outdoor space was such a bonus. The house was clean, had ample sleeping space and we even had snacks provided. There was an issue with one of the bathrooms which was a bit of an issue but the owners attended to us immediately. Hopefully this will be a fix that won't be too painful for them after we leave, again, just the nature of an older house. The outdoor shower became a fun adventure and replaced the bathroom that was out of commission. For the price, this location cannot be beat. It is charming and the outdoors space on the water to sit and enjoy or for fishing is invaluable. New even had a swift visit by a dolphin one evening who made quite a showing down to the mangrove and back. I hope we can visit this area again! The location is great!

We all enjoyed our stay. Hudson beach has a couple of great restaurants to enjoy and watch the sunset. We visited Clearwater and St Pete Beach which are reasonably close as well as the Tampa aquarium. Fishing off the dock behind the house was good as well. Everything we needed for ten people to enjoy the house was there and Connie couldn't have been a better hostess.

Great July 4th Week for South Carolinans
Two families with 6 total guests enjoyed our week in Hudson in the tropical decor cottage. Cottage was perfect for our stay, clean, spacious, welcoming and cozy! It is obviously loved by its owner and it showed by the care placed from the beautiful decor and little expressions of hospitality from snacks and availability of any item you might need. We would highly recommend this cottage to all and would love to book and live in paradise again. Thank you Connie and family, The Gamble's and The Hunter's.

The property was easy to find. Tenant was very attentive, yellow jackets were discovered while maintenance mowed lawn on check In day and they took care of them immediately. Even checked about them the next day. There were eggs in the fridge and bagels and cream cheese, as well as biscuits and various staples. This was a very nice touch. Local live music drifts across the canal from nearby restaurant. Even when it rained it was beautiful and there was plenty to do for all ages. More than enough linens and pillows.

We enjoyed our stay. of all the places we have stayed, Connie had the best plates, silverware, pots & pans, etc. We didn't get to place until 9:15 pm and she met us there and had bagels, juice and cream cheese for our breakfast. Thanks Connie. The one disappointment was the 4th bedroom which is not a bedroom but a pull out couch. Room very crowded with tables and desk. The yard was nice, plenty of outdoor seating & umbrellas. 2 kayaks and 3 bikes, GREAT. Had dolphins visit just once but they put on a good show for us. All in all, would recommend a stay here. Nice Neighborhood, Missed Potential...Disappointing Experience
My husband, adult son and I chose this location as a location to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. She and her husband joined us from Colorado. Largely, we based the selection on the fact that when we booked the VRBO listing specified a King bed, and listed all the toys- tandem kayak, single kayak, fishing on the quiet canal, all sounded blissful..The rental rate of less than $100 was very reasonable. When we arrived, we immediately began to notice why the rate was reasonable. First off-three bedrooms, the fourth bed, as previous reviewers pointed out, is a sofabed in a sunroom off the kitchen. There was NO King bed, only a Queen downstairs, Queen upstairs in another bedroom, third bedroom- twin and full. When I mentioned this to the owner, she asked what rental site I used, and changed the VRBO listing to Queen during our visit. No apology, or concern that my husband and I can NOT comfortably sleep on a Queen. The second morning we noticed the dishwasher controls did not work. We reported this to Connie, and her husband Tom came over promptly. Three visits out of our vacation to resolve this, we washed dishes 5 out of 7 days until the repair was complete only to learn it had broken before. We found many items put away dirty, and washed everything we used first. Not an overall clean feeling to the house,but the decor was cute. Previous renters were to blame for all of the issues we pointed out. What is the cleaning fee for? Shouldn't everything be inspected before new renters arrive? We also learned during our stay in Florida that "sugar ants" are normal - but we took exception to sharing kitchen counters and bathroom surfaces with them.. We went to WalMart and bought ant "gels" and cleaner with bleach so we felt a little better. Connie did pay us back for them the morning of our departure. Overall the property is tired;deferred maintenance, scuffed paint, upstairs has a low angled ceiling, dark paneling, musty carpet- complete opposite of the light, airy first floor. Games, pieces missing. Blinds-downstairs bedroom broken, didn't close completely. Upstairs bedroom- sheer curtain on the window, no room darkening shade. Lamp but no plug. Bathrooms-NO working fans, can't stand in 1/2 bath due to the slope of the roof. Tandem Kayak-hole in it, unusable. Fishing poles-barely usable, we had to buy tackle. Left the home cleaner than we found it. Listing not as represented, owner did not respond to my request for compensation-bad business.

Quiet and serene
Our family stayed here over the New Year. The house is very spacious with two living areas and two rooms with dining tables. We migrated from room to room during our stay. There is also a large hammock in the back that we took enjoyed. The kayaks were a great addition as we took turns kayaking to the bay, which is very close to the house. Great place.

My husband and 3 others went to Florida for a golfing week. They were not at the house that much, only to sleep, because they golfed everyday from morning until evening. The only downfall was that the description states there are 4 bedrooms, this should probably be clarified. When they arrived they found 3 bedrooms, one bedroom did have 2 beds. My husband slept on the pull out sofa in a room downstairs, which I do not believe was really a bedroom but more a separate living room. If there were fishing poles, as pictured, they did not see them. Overall, they were happy with their stay. The owner was very easy to communicate with and was quick to respond to email and text. Thank you.

Wonderful mix of comfort, relaxation and activity
Our host, Connie Nies, is the most accommodating, cordial and thoughtful owner we have rented from. She greeted us on our arrival and gave a thorough tour of the house. She even returned later in the evening with goodies and juice for breakfast the next day! The house itself was exactly what we had hoped for a weeklong family celebration of Dad's 95th birthday. Being right on the canal offered a little something for everyone - fishing, kayaking, bird watching and daydreaming. Connie and her husband, Tom, have thought of almost everything you could need. The kitchen was well supplied with condiments, dishes and cooking needs. Connie has left paper goods left by previous renters and it was great to not have to buy those items immediately but to restock as the week went on. There are three dedicated bedrooms and a sleeper sofa in the sun room. Additionally, there are air mattresses (and room to use them) and a very nice pack 'n play for a baby. There are board games and bicycles. The dining room/living room combination is spacious and easy to have a conversation when the tv is playing in the other main room. Connie was very responsive to questions that came up while we were there (be sure to ask about the dishwasher start up) and quick to make a fix to the grill so it could be used. She is knowledgeable about restaurants, grocery stores and beaches. Our family felt at home and Connie Nies made that happen. We will definitely be back!

This was a family vacation there were 9 of us from 8 months to 53. The house is beautiful and there was plenty of room for everyone. We will definitely be back. Connie is awesome she gave us a tour so we knew where everything was in the home. This home is close to many attractions for all ages. The neighborhood is quiet. We spent many hours fishing and kayaking in the canal. I highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to stay on the West coast of Florida.
