'We stopped in Puntarenas on our way back from the west coast to San Juan. Unless you are curious to see all of Costa Rica, there is not much at all in this area. It's a filthy, poor area with little to offer, even though it is so close to the beach. The hotel is kind of old and tired with an unclean looking pool. Food is mediocre at best. We had a suite in the newly build tower, supposedly with a view over the marina. No view unless you stand on the balcony. We asked for a different room but got...

'This was such a fun experience for us! The place was great! Easy access to the beach, cold AC, private bathroom with hot water. The other guests were friendly and the staff was exceptional! Laurie does it all - she even changed my flat tire for me! '

'My experience at this hotel was pretty amazing. I loved the atmosphere, the staff were friendly and personable, the room was beautiful. I felt really taken care of, the cleaning crew were excellent and I felt welcomed. They helped me book a couple of excursions and I did some adventuring on my own. It’s close to the downtown so you can go to restaurants but it’s out of the way, and feels like an oasis. I felt very safe in Montezuma and didn’t have any unpleasant interactions. Really I was...

'Thomas was a great host. He was super knowledgeable about area and even drove us to a couple places before we decided to rent a car. This is a hidden gem. We got to see monkeys from our balcony in their natural habitat If you're looking for a quiet romantic getaway, this is it. I do recommend renting a car as things are a bit away. But close enough for day trips. '
