The room was spacious but the furniture was old. The ironing board in the room was broken. There were no bath towel and floor mat. I had to ask twice. The 2 pieces of bath towels were old and worn out as well. Overall, I had a decent stay.

I think this was one of the nice hotels i Kota Kinabalu. Not too new and some better maintenance is possible, but for the prices offered, it's definitely OK. My observations from that hotel and from the next, in Sandakan, show that probably in all Malaysia (or at least in Borneo) there is something to be improved in housekeeping. It took some effort to receive towels, there were some chambermaid's hairs on the floor... things like that are definitely not the best, even though I won't remember the place with that. Rooms were very spacious, internet worked, even though wasn't too great, but the best thing in this hotel was the breakfast, included in the room rates.

Compliments to the housekeeping team for always making my room tidy and clean whenever I requested for it. Two staff in particular deserves a huge shout out for making my trip in Sabah pleasant. Nur Liza from the reception has been extremely helpful and has went out her way to make my stay comfortable. She assisted and handled my problems well. She is approachable and easy to communicate to in the hotel. Ronald from the Cafe was professional and recommended me the right dessert to eat in the hotel. The food from the cafe and breakfast buffet was decent if I need a quick meal or I am unsure of what to get. Despite the great team behind the hotel, the hotel is a little rundown from the rooms, gym, swimming pool showers and carpark. If there is a renovation to these key areas, Sabah Oriental Hotel would be a definite easy recommendation from me and will have a great potential as it is extremely near to the city centre and key tourist attractions as well. Until there is a significant improvement to the hotel conditions, this hotel will remain as a good budget hotel for travellers especially for solo guests. Will be happy to return back to the hotel when I visit Sabah soon again. Thank you for taking good care of me.

firstly I would say the room isn't properly maintained. The breakfast was served individually which was considered okay during this pandemic. i have to call twice to ask for towels which sent after 2 hrs waiting? towel for bathroom isn't stocked up properly. as for the check-in procedure, i wont comment much as it's on weekend and everyone on holidays. good thing that they serve us welcome drinks while waiting for our room key. room service? luckily its good, oh, food is so so, but the service is def great, kudos to that. check out procedure alright. but oh well, it's def worth the price value.

KK Vacation with elderly parents
Location was quite near to airport and other places of interest in KK. Booked 2 rooms for 5 nights with the hotel. Connecting rooms given on the 11th floor were spacious. Comfortable bed and wi-fi in the rooms good enough to stay connected with loved ones back home. Furnishing could be improved cos quite outdated. Safe boxes provided but locked and could not use. Chipped surface on the bath tub and stained WC for both toilets. Needed to request for towels, floor mat, room slippers and water stoppers cos not provided during check in. Staff were polite and accomodating. Breakfast good. Swimming pool functional but quite small. Overall, enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Thanks

The staff and Breakfast were the best in my opinion. No internet except in lobby (next to the reception, in the restaurant and the fountain). The room seems really worn out: the curtains had holes and there was a hole in the ceiling in the bathroom.
