Deze traditionele ryokan heeft ruime tatami kamers met eigen badkamer. Alles is heel verzorgd en het Japanse ontbijt is een enorme aanrader. Elke ochtend een verrassing en een feest voor je smaakpapillen en t oog. Geserveerd in een prive ontbijtruimte. Het personeel en de eigenaars zijn heel attent en vriendelijk. Wat ons betreft geen minpunten!

Echt een Japanse ervaring, de manier van ontvangst, de hygiene, het ontbijt. Alles is echt Japans. Je voelt het tot in je vezels.

Traditioneel Ryokan in downtown Kyoto
Wij verbleven 7 nachten in dit Ryokan. Grote kamers en naast de grote badgelegenheid, apart voor mannen en vrouwen, is er bij de kamer ook een eigen bad, douche, wasbak en wc. Prima voorzieningen dus voor een langduriger verblijf en bovendien in goede staat. Het Japanse ontbijt en diner wordt geserveerd in afzonderlijk kamers. Voor wie helemaal in het verleden wil duiken is het mogelijk net te weinig traditioneel. Het gebouw is van recente datum. Er zijn de nodige klassieke attributen, maar het is niet echt hoogstaand antiek. Op de tatami ligt ter bescherming een vloerkleed. Er is ruimte voor 2 futons en een lage tafel met sabuton stoelen, maar de futons worden overdag niet weggeborgen.

This ryokan was beyond my expectations. The photos doesn’t do justice at all. The ryokan has everything you will need and is super comfortable and quiet. The owners and very sweet and kind and always help with everything. The place is next to the Nishiki market which is very convenient to grab anything fresh to eat. Next time in Kyoto will definitely stay here again, Arigato!!

The owner was so nice and greeted us upon arrival. It felt like an authentic experience staying in this ryokan… it’s also like a 10 second walk to the bustling market which was really cool. I recommend this hotel and I’d stay here again.

Ryokan adiacente al bellissimo mercato. Struttura molto piacevole si dorme sui tatami e si fa colazione con kimono forniti dai proprietari in un ambiente piccolo e delizioso. Il Ryokan offre una piccola struttura termale che rende il soggiorno particolarmente piacevole. Colazione con forte connotato giapponese. Zona molto centrale.

The staff are so friendly and helpful and speak very well English. The place is so clean and dust free! It’s a well maintained facility with hot drinks, public bath and laundry service. My child loved it. And the place is only 1 min walk from Nishiki Market. I wished I booked more days.

Best place to stay in Kyoto!
Can’t recommend this place enough! Everything was fantastic, we stayed for 2 nights and absolutely loved it! They provided us with Yukata to wear inside the property, they were warm and really elevated the traditional Japanese Ryokan experience! We also had the breakfast and I definitely recommend it, I’m not much of a breakfast person and I tend not to eat when I go sightseeing, so it was the perfect set up to have a proper meal to start the day and it kept me full for a long time. The hostess was also incredibly kind, so nice and helpful with suggestions and information, and it’s actually her home as well! The place was absolutely beautiful, it’s clear they put a ton of work into it and was such a nice relaxing atmosphere after running around everywhere all day! The location itself is great, you’re right next to Nishiki market and the main shopping street in Kyoto, so bus stops aren’t that far either, maybe a 5-10 min walk? Even though it’s near some of the most popular shopping, the neighborhood itself is very quiet and the noise tends to stay within the market itself. If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese inn I can’t recommend staying here enough, the futons were very comfortable and the deep bathtub was an absolute delight!

The staff were very friendly and it is very well located right next to Nishiki market. The breakfast was incredibly good. This was my first ryokan experience and I loved it. My only complaint is that there was a bit of noise outside early in the morning.

Owner was very kind and attentive. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a traditional room in Kyoto. There is also plenty to do in the area around, as you are near Nishiki market here. The only thing to note is that there is an 11pm curfew here.

Great Stay!
We loved our stay at Kagihei! The owners and all the staff we met were super friendly and kind. Highlights included the public bath and the exquisite kaiseki breakfasts they served each morning. It was also really helpful that they had a laundry available and very reasonably priced, as we came to Kyoto after a week in Tokyo without access to laundry! Facilities were also extremely clean, and we loved being right next to Nishiki market.

Our stay was great all around. We had the Japanese Ryokan experience yet on a western friendly manner. Our room had a regular shower and toilet, while at the same time there was onsen available. The owners were extremely kind; Japanese breakfast delicious; tatami sleeping experience very good; and the surroundings were very convenient. Easy to walk around the market and stores nearby. The river side is close as well where we found a great restaurant. Gion is also close. We hope we had more time to go to the bars and restaurants in that area. There are subway stations nearby where you can transport to the many sites to see in Kyoto. Price was also more reasonable compared to other options. The Ryokan is not very large and there should be other ones with more fancy facilities, gardens and views. However, since we were going to be sightseeing most of the day, this was a pretty good option to us. We are thinking on another trip back to Japan next year and we will definitely repeat this Ryokan.

I had a fantastic stay and a memorable experience from my first stay at a ryokan. The landlady and the rest of the staff were phenomenal at making me feel welcome to their ryokan and I felt very well taken care of during my two nights stay. The room was extremely clean and traditional but had all modern conveniences I could ask for. The location is supreme; close to shopping, sights and public transport but still in a very quiet street and I slept like a baby on my comfy futon. The breakfast was wholesome and a fascinating sample of traditional Japanese morning food. Highly recommended!

One of the best and unique experience I have when traveling to a foreign country. The owners are very friendly, accommodating and helpful in many ways. Will definitely stay here again.
