'We had a wonderful stay in June in the woodlands chalet which featured a big hot tub and a huge comfy bed. The chalet was clean and modern, with all the essentials you could want provided such as tea, milk, biscuits and dishwashing liquid. The staff were all wonderful. We found our private courtyard with the hot tub was hot upon arrival and a great afternoon suntrap. It's just a 10 minute walk to local restaurants, cafes, cute shops, a bakery, a fantastic deli and some pubs. There is a train...

'From the first welcome to the final farewell, it was a joy to stay there. Substantive breakfasts, pet friendly, old manor house setting with great views. Good choice of relatively local (less than 10 miles) public houses for evening fare. Already hoping to get back there when next visiting the Lakes, which start only six miles north.'

'Property appears to have been recently made over, everything is new and fresh, extremely clean and although on the small side the rooms are perfect for overnight stays, comfortable bed and with more than enough tea/coffee supplies unlike a lot of places. The continental breakfast was excellent quality and plentiful. We could not fault the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall excellent value for money and we will definitely go back'

When I arrived at 8.30pm 25/5 the door was locked shut, the place was in darkness and a note attached to the door said to phone a mobile number to gain code keys and access BUT their number failed to ring. Tried multiple times, including 100m away in 3 directions. A landline number was given on the accommodation door, this also failed to ring. 'Its a grand old hotel. It has everything you would need. One of the highlights was having a bedroom with a balcony that looked out over Morecambe bay. Beautiful. If you like somewhere with a bit of character, and a peacock !, this is the place for you ! Thanks Liz'
