After being let down with our original booking, we found the Black Lion Hotel.
It's set in a small, quiet village near the river.
We had a superb evening meal, the pub was busy in both the bar and restaurant area all evening, which is always a good sign.... the food was superb, service was excellent
The room we stayed in was quiet, clean, the bathroom was a good size, the bed was comfy.

'This is an old-fashioned hotel with mostly elderly guests. The breakfast is very simple and typically British. No concessions to tourists. The beds are hard. It is simple and clean but not very pleasant.'
